hi, im dai. i got turned into a poochyena like a year ago, and tbh it was probably the best thing that ever happened to me. i was kind of in a shit position before then, but now i'm healthier and happier than i've ever been, and i got adopted by a family that actually cares about me.

i used to live in castelia, but i moved to johto a while back to live with my new family.

there was some other stuff that happened i think, but i can't really remember much of it. but for some reason i'm dark/ghost type, and i can make weird portals, and like, invert stuff. not sure what the deal is with that, but it's pretty cool. figure it means i'm some kinda special poochyena, like, cooler than your average one, or something.

i do freelance work making costumes (you mightve seen some contest coordinators wearing my stuff) but outside of that i dont really do a whole lot, mainly fucking around on the internet and watching anime and stuff

Dragons are basically fish, when you get down to it.

There’s no such thing as fish. The word doesn’t have any taxonomic meaning. It’s a word we’ve used to describe everything from hagfish to goldfish, even though a coelacanth is more closely related to a camel than a salmon. But because they inhabit the same ecological niche of “vertebrate animal with gills and fins,” we call them all fish.

Likewise, there’s no such thing as dragons. We call anything that fills the mytho-ecological niche of “dangerous animal that blocks the way” a dragon. And that’s why any kind of argument of what does and doesn’t count as a dragon is moot — wyverns are dragons just as much as a jabberwock or a jaculus or a tatzelwurm, not because they’re closely related in a biological clade but because they fill a narrative niche.

Dragons are also lobsters, but that’s for unrelated reasons.

I'm a Pokemon and I think that term is absurd.. some people are just rude.

I'm still upset about that anon who suggested "monfolk" as a replacement for the term "eeby".

"Monsters who can think and talk like folk". No. I can't even begin to describe how horrible that is.

We aren't "like" folk, we are folk. We're not monsters, we're people. And it doesn't even at all acknowledge that we're still human, even with our bodies being different now. There's nothing in this term distinguishing us from regular sapient Pokemon.

I really hate the term "monfolk".

You have no idea, my friend. Though mayhaps she could use a Psychic TM. Many 'mons use that move to speak with telepathy and a Ninetales using isn't unheard of.

But also.. what's really stopping a Kanto Ninetales from burning the tree? Or an Alolan from freezing it solid and, I dunno, smacking it hard enough to shatter it?

Speaking of smacking.. both regional foxes can learn Iron Tail, and with the strength we have it should be easy to cleave a small tree in two.

Oh well. There's always other ways to get around.

I understand why using HMs for field moves has fallen out of fashion but I do kinda miss when every traveling trainer had an HM buddy. it's good for trainers to need to have a partner whose job is not to be a strong battler. it reminds them that Pokémon have value outside of competitive viability

Hello, hello!

Just as I stated earlier, my name is Alzis Myers. I am a historian and an archaeologist, although I have not been able to do proper field work in some time. I primarily study Pokemon that were created by ancient civilizations, though that is far from the only thing I have worked on. (:

I am not a Pokemon trainer, but I do own two Pokemon.

Delphi, my Absol. She's simply a wonderful companion, and quite skilled at easing my anxieties... as well as being an ideal Pokemon to have around while I am working, for many reasons. She's wonderful, truly wonderful.

And... Atlas, my Sigilyph. The main inspiration behind my primary field of research. I caught it back during my first experiences with field work, back in university... Incredibly, incredibly odd.

It's much larger than the average Sigilyph, with a unique color variant, as well. It's been over half a decade since I caught it, and yet my knowledge on it is lacking... I suppose that is just how Sigilyph are by nature. Always so elusive and cryptic.

Other social media websites feel overwhelming and at times, hostile, in my experience, and frankly a pain to use, but I am hoping that I will be pleasantly surprised here. (I have also stumbled across a few rumors pertaining to this website, and I am very, very intrigued...)

That aside, however, I do hope at the very least, I can spread knowledge and interest in our history. I promise you all, it's worth learning a thing or two! (:
