Urban Swarm Contemplated
Contemporary Artist, Susan Logoreci, has caught our eye with drawings of aerial views one would see as they are descending on an airplane. The way she captures the angles and layouts of these sprawling cities and landmarks is remarkable. Her pieces are something worth checking for. Some of our favorites are below.

Reason Number 4 Why You Should Never Go To Jail
Somehow a picture taken on a cell phone from behind the walls of Burruss Correctional Training Center in Forsyth Georgia has gone viral. An inmate or inmates of this jail managed to sneak a cell phone in (most likely a smart phone) and get a humiliating emasculating picture taken of ole boy. In the picture of  3 inmates, 2/3 of the inmates are taking a cliche jail pic but the 3rd inmate, not so much. Ole boy posing in a crouching position with his left eye almost swollen shut while a belt is tied around his neck to look like a dog leash. Ima give ole boy the benefit of the doubt, he most likely was jumped by the two inmates he's pictured with plus the cameraman so odd were not in his favor.
One of the first things that comes to mind is Biederman from Let's Go to Prison in a guilty humorous way. I have so many questions about this photo and everything surrounding it. Are these inmates that shot the fuck out that they took this picture and sent it to someone on the outside? How did they get the phone? Is this a juvenile jail or a county?  Is the jail's wifi free or does the phone have a plan? Why did media outlets publish the inmate's name, further endangering him? (we choose not to) Will this photo be used to try and keep young people away from a life of crime? Isn't this picture a sign of regular abuse of this poor inmate and what type of security does the jail have to allow this? Can the inmate with the belt tied around his neck ever go back to his hood? Was this photo worth getting the whole tier locked down until further notice and everybody's cell searched? I can go on and on and on.
What should be taken from this photo is, if you not built for this shit stay out the life. Ain't nothing cool or fun about being locked down with a whole bunch of angry violent dudes. Even if you can fight, you got to wins with a bunch of dudes trying to jump you. This is fucked up for all parties involved, the jail, the inmates who did that to ole boy face and posed with him, the photographer, the person who sent the picture, the person who's paying for the phone's plan, the cell block and everybody from ole boy's hood. Ahead Of Their Time: The Kennedy
A traditional "selfie" of some of the Kennedy family has surfaced over 40 years later. In the mirror taken photo Jackie is looking modelesque as she casually snaps of picture of her sister-in-law, Ethel and husband President John F Kennedy. JFK looks preppy but cool in his polo shirt and khakis while Jackie O.....looks sexy AF without trying (with all due respect). Ethel looks aight. As i'm writing this I keep staring at Jackie O and finally get the paparazzi's infatuation with this widow's former FLOTUS. She looks in shape, not too skinny and casually stylish. JFK is standing there admiring how fly they looks as a unit. Still earning style points half a century later.

License Plate Scanners: What If Police Departments...
Police Departments across the country are using license plate readers (LPR) to supposedly fight crime, I guess, but what the collected data finds is a lot deeper. Police Departments can zero in on your habits like what bars your frequent, what ATM machines you use and or what malls you go to. On some Minority Report type shit this data can possibly be used to anticipate you breaking the law in some instances. Gizmodo goes deeper into this story all drivers and car owners should be aware of. And gtfoh with that "if you're not breaking the law you have nothing to worry about" invasion of privacy is invasion of privacy. For more on this developing story click here.

World Hood - Mar y Monte
West Coast Afo-Latin Dub group, World Hood, came up as I casually browsed the web looking for Misfitt tunes. After listening to a few joints I came away impressed with their sound. Only thing is I didn't understand a word outside of the samples they used on the track. Your ears don't need to understand a word to know something sounds dope. This track Mar y Monte is a hybrid of many sounds but its west coast hip hop and hipster vibe is what caught my ear. Let us know what you think.

The Return of X-Files
Sci-fi fans rejoice Fox has officially green-lit a six episode return of X-Files. After hinting in January of the shows return, the truth that was left out there is David Duchovny and Gillian Anderson will both be returning. The show had a nine season run from 93-02 plus two movies. I don't know whether to be excited or disappointed. This is another example of Hollywood's lazy ways as its reprising a proven show rather than give shine to something new and original. Only time will tell if kids of then who are adults now will care enough to tune in. One thing I demand is that they use the same theme song, maybe that will creep out my 4 year old and force her to bed earlier.

Nike Air Max Day 2015: Air Max Zero
Nike is celebrating Air Max Day (March 26, 2015) by releasing the 30 year old unreleased Tinker Hatfield designed Air Max Zero. These first versions of the iconic running shoe was never released because it seemed to ahead of its time but it quickly inspired the classic Air Max 1 which still gets hella run on these sneaker streets.Hatfield sits down for an interview with Designboom and discuss the process that lead up to him designing the very first Air Max, you can read the interview here.
In addition sneaker designer Ronnie Fieg is helping Nike roll out the Air Max Zero with a release date lead up marketing campaign. Starting March 21 Fieg will scatter casts of the Air Max Zero around the 5 boroughs of New York City placing pieces of the sneaker's history on street corners that are near and dear to his heart. The 100 casts will be concealed in NYC call boxes wrapped in tri-branded KITH (the name of Fieg's SOHO sneaker boutique), Nike and Snarkitecture dust bag in custom boxes. The bags come with 1 ticket which guarantees an opportunity to buy a pair of Air Max Zeros on March 26.
Maxheads and Snearkerheads alike, check out some pics of the Air Max Zero below

Untitled: What Does The Cover Mean?!?!?!
On Midnight March 11, 2015, Kendrick Lamar, posted what is only his second photo ever on his Instagram page for his 1.2 million followers to see. The provocative image, which most people believe is the cover art for his highly anticipated untitled sophomore album, has all of us wondering WTF does it mean? To further throw us off, he follows up the post with some cryptic  nonsensical quote that’s even more confusing. So much can be drawn from its possible meaning but in order to reach a conclusion, several factors must be considered while studying the image: the artist its meant to represent,  the racial climate that hangs over today’s society, the perceived location of the photo, the photo subjects' mannerisms and finally, the photo's overall intent.
Kendrick Lamar has managed to pull off a rare trifecta in today’s music industry.  He can sell a shit load of records in the digital age. Hereceives critical acclaim from all music aficionados. And he’s already dropped what is arguably considered a classic hip hop album, “Good Kid Madd City.” No other artist from his generation of MCs can say that. His first album introduced him as a kid from the hood who has an affiliation with the street life but also possesses the intuition and foresight not to cross that proverbial line that leads to either jail and or death. He raps with the same perspective Nas had  on “Project Window”: one foot in the streets with the other one out. Since the release Kendrick Lamar’s first album,he has put out consistent noteworthy material and has had some dope performances. In interviews, he is articulate and intelligent yet you sense this weirdo type of vibe from him that expressive artists tend to give off. I even read somewhere he vowed not to cut his hair until his second album was complete. He knows what the fuck he’s doing and is very calculated.
With the release of the US Justice Department ‘s results on its investigation of the Ferguson Police Department, Oklahoma University's Sigma Alpha Epsilon video along with countless police shootings of unarmed African Americans over the last 12 months, racial tension in the country is at 30 year high. Everybody's on edge or sensitive depending on their perspective. Social media has been dominated by discussions on race relations with people losing friends over ideological differences. The country's divided to put it bluntly, which makes this cover art that much more intriguing.
The photo looks like it was taken on the White House lawn but it’s safe to say this was probably the work of Photoshop. Especially since, under President Barack Obama, the White House lawn has had numerous security breaches and he’s received the most threats of any President in the history of the United States.  Which begs the question? Why did Kendrick Lamar want the location for his cover art photo to be at the White House? The photo comes off as like bold Instagram flick with a silent caption that says "We getting money and don't give a fuck...we stuntin on the White House lawn!!" Or maybe "This how we look in the eyes of America with a black sitting President."  It seems like each month some public figure, TV personality or political pundit is making a stereotypical, offensive statement about the Commander-in-Chief anyway, so let’s turn the mirror around.
The 22 people in the photo have some interesting mannerisms. Some are holding cash. I see one holding a bottle and another one holding a child. But when you look at their faces, all of them, you see it’s full of the same kind of aggressive and boisterous confidence. The picture is so hip hop: good, bad, or indifferent. Lying under a pile of these 22 turnt up cats, is a white man with Xs over his eyes who looks to have just lost hold of a gavel, which is laying just a few feet out of his reach. The white dude could represent the judging society or perhaps the old guard of America and how theiropinion no longer matters. Whatever it represents, I can already see all the of the conservative pundits on cable news screaming reverse racism andcalling this a double standard.
This photo is art, meant to get us to talk and debate its intent, but is it meant to be taken seriously or is tongue in cheek? To me, it’s satirical but on anunconventional platform, one that’s not used to interpreting satire. Most satirical images are political in nature, in the form of cartoons complete with caption bubbles that assist the reader into formulating an opinion. Today's satire is delivered on fake news websites and or television shows so weautomatically approach what we’re reading or seeing with the knowledge that it’s intent is to make a mockery of something serious. However, the still image and caption of this cover art is so cryptic that it’s hard to swallow but the purpose of satire is to make a serious issue seem so ridiculous that we can only laugh at some sad realities, like the one that Kendrick Lamar is seemingly trying to convey.
Take the Key and Peele skit for example.  In this skit, Barrack Obama is meeting with some Republican lawmakers in a conference room.  In the skit,Obama uses a Bugs Bunny method to make his rivals do what he wants them to do. Obama proposes things Republicans are normally in favor of butdue to their unwavering opposition to the President, they now oppose them. Instead, they make suggestions that are completely opposite of everything they would normally support. He tricks them into thinking they’ve won but in actuality they did what he wanted them to do all along. Oncethey realize what he's doing, they begin to mutilate themselves. The skit ends with Obama looking into the camera and saying, "Ain't I a stinker!" This is the art of political satire at its finest, making light of the ridiculous levels of obstruction Republicans have subjected our President to.
Only time will tell if Kendrick Lamar is thinking that deep with this cover art but with his track record, he deserves the benefit of the doubt and time to explain.

Michael Jordan Reaches New Milestone
His Airness, Michael Jordan, is now in the Billionaire club according to Forbes magazine ranking as the 1,741st richest person in the world. MJ is the majority owner of the Charlotte Hornets a franchise valued at $700 million and collects a guessimated $100 million per year in royalties from the Nike Air Jordan line. We say "guessimated" because Jordan's business manger said they did not comment on the Forbes report. Regardless of the actual numbers MJ continues to layout blueprints for professional athletes to follow. Salute to the greatest basketball player ever.
