saw an absolutely hilarious animal crossing theory that i now 100% accept and it’s that in the animal crossing world, humans are going extinct, and so all the animals have locked you in an elaborate zoo enclosure and are trying to give you enrichment. and that’s why they give you infinite pointless tasks, hide money in trees and rocks, invented debt that doesnt matter etc. it’s why they always act so happy to see you even after you raze the entire island, relocate their houses twice, and always act so pleased about your choices no matter what. it’s all to keep their little endangered human healthy and enriched. and thinking of it this way has genuinely improved my experience of the game

Ecocidal Maniac - Cut down all of an island's native fruit trees.

Menace to Society - Hit villagers with a net 20 times.

Emergency Prank Caller - Call Rescue Service outside of the valid service area at least 5 times.

Just Wrong - Give a frog to a frog villager, an octopus to an octopus villager, a hamster cage to a hamster villager, etc..

Betrayal - Anger a villager with whom you have achieved best friend status.

I Want to Play a Game - Trap a villager by digging holes around them.

Return Address - Regift a villager an item they previously gave you.

I Made It Special - Gift a villager a DIY item made from trash.

Formative Experience - Attack a bear cub or kangaroo villager.

Just a Terrible Person - Throw trash into a body of water.

Your Problem Now - Gift fake art or trash to a villager.

Have Fun - Place a villager house on unrouteable terrain.
