Recently got enamored by the scene artstyle and had to try it out
#fuck you no tags#tag it yourself if you're so inclined#because I'd rather not embarrass myself by misusing scene tags

When you want to make an entire character based on the scene aesthetic for your Y2K story, but the story takes place in 1999, and scene wasn't officially a thing until 2002, so you gotta rethink it.

Opinion on each OFF remake track so far
Trailer: This thing instilled so much hype in me on first listen and it's still a wonderful piece divorced from its trailer context. I've been theorizing that this will be the Avatar Beat replacement, and in that context... it's still great, but Avatar Beat is one of my favorite final boss themes of all time, so it's an impossible act to follow. Also, Toby Fox song that doesn't sound like Toby Fox, impressive.
White Meat: Okay, hot take, I actually like this more than Pepper Steak. It's a different take on industrial swing that I find much more fun to listen to than the original due to having more involved progression. However, I will admit, the more ominous and heavy industrial side of Pepper Steak is lost... but I'm sure that's what the Zone 3 battle theme will be there for. However, two cakes and all that.
No Precipitation: Without a doubt my favorite preview track so far. This feels very much like an ACC ambient track without directly blending in with any of the original OFF soundtrack, which means I don't have to choose a favorite child. It's an enchanting and slightly sad song, perfect for Zone 1. Makes me look forward to the other ambient tracks much more than before.
Clocks Work: Going for the "legally distinct [original song]" approach is a very risky take because it means one will certainly have my preference over the other... and I prefer Clockwork for its more involved percussion. This is still a good track that serves its purpose, but in terms of individual listening, I most certainly prefer the original.

A small doodle of Mima's transformation over her life and death. She was a teenage occult fan who got dragged into Hell after performing a ritual from a sketchy website and was reborn as an evil spirit. (my interpretation)

Is this a replacement to the game controller puzzle, or a spiritual successor as part of one of the new secrets?

Every single Rhythm Heaven sequel from GBA to Fever ranked. I did this by grading on four criteria, each on a 1-10 scale.
Individual Presentation: How it looks and sounds without factoring in its predecessor.
Fun Factor: Do I enjoy playing (or tapping along to videos because I haven't been able to play any of the games on hardware besides DS) the minigame?
Presentation Distinction: Does it look and feel different from the original in a constructive way? A minigame that's distinct for the worse is typically scoring lower here than one that isn't distinct at all.
Gameplay Distinction: Does it play in a way that feels different from the original? Does it build off the original mechanics in a successful way? Like the above, a game that's distinct for the worse is usually scoring below a game that's not distinct at all (the exception is Munchy Monk 2, which I gave a 0 in gameolay distinction mainly because I posted my extremely long-winded reviews in a server that is very critical towards Munchy Monk 2).
I'd love to share my reviews publicly, but they're each at least a paragraph long and many are multiple paragraphs in length, all in discord message format, so there's no easy way to do that.
