HC that Getou's parents sent him to a therapist who didn't try to challenge his "delusions" and instead told him to talk to them. Probably thought the curses were representations of his emotions.

He managed to subdue some of them into balls and brought them to the therapist. The therapist said to try different things with them until he felt he could control them. The balls were a sort of stasis, but the curses would eventually get free and run if he didn't either kill them or control them another way, and he didn't want to kill them. Hence, the swallowing.

His therapist also suggested that he do sports to take his mind off of the curses, which got him into martial arts. He feels he owes a lot to his therapist.

Then, the therapist gets killed by a curse from one of his other patients. It's ruled a suicide, but suguru knows better. That was the first higher grade curse he swallowed and it put him on jujutsu society radar.
