i need to talk about alex talking about teto in the latest team torque episode because he starts by, hesitantly, like just the tiniest bit of hesitation, identifying teto as carlos' friend and then it's like a multiple fold thing because what's the source of hesitation? does alex, like most people still struggle to figure out what teto actually does? is it that teto is definitely carlos' something but the most camera appropriate word that alex can find is 'friend'? or is it that alex has been made aware of carlos' strange relationship with the world 'friend' and therefore does not know when it is appropriate to use it? and then alex continues to say that teto "comes to every race" and immediately corrects himself because it seems like he doesn't want to make teto appear jobless and misrepresent him and he looks to carlos to get some kind of confirmation or a 'go ahead' but carlos is just checking his nails out, so alex continues to say that teto "comes to a few races when he isn't racing himself" because teto most definitely has a job outside of just being a sugar buddy. basically, can alex albon tell me his every thought on team 55, please?

i do appreciate the way that we tumblr users have evolved our language to discuss our feelings related to The Character/The Guy. you used to have to just say he was hot or he was making your ovaries explode or he was a precious cinnamon roll even if he looked bad or was just kind of standing there or whatever. now you can say things like “the creature” or “he looks so sopping wet here” or “i want to chain him to my radiator” like it’s just more inclusive and adaptable to the situation

I know I promised 84 years ago that I would try to write this, so here goes.

Lando watches as Carlos releases the bowling ball and sends it sailing down the lane, direct and sure. There is a floating moment, where they are all watching the ball approach the pins, and then the ball makes contact and every pin drops to the wood of the alley with a clatter.

Carlos whips to look at Lando, face breaking into a massive, excited expression as their scores tie. He raises his arms in triumph as the team cheers for Carlos. Lando is folding in half with giddy laughter that turns into a sharp squeak as Carlos rushes towards him, arms already reaching to grab.

Carlos falls to his knees and goes for Lando's legs as Lando bats him away with a half-serious hand. Still, Carlos snags him around the knees and drags them both to the floor of the alley, wrestling Lando down through his cawing laughter and Lando's high giggles. As Lando loses his balance and falls on his bum, Carlos softens his fall with a supportive arm and then slides over Lando's body and puts his hands on Lando's chest to shake him.

"A tie, Landito," Carlos crows. "A fucking tie, Cabrón."

Lando is still laughing, chin tucked as he thinks Carlos is going to plant his hands on Lando's neck next. He has his arms locked out with a palm on each of Carlos's shoulders, holding him back. His stomach is full of something twitching and fluttering, body scrunching under Carlos as he can't control his laughter.

Carlos pushes, tries to break Lando's locked-elbow hold, and when he can't get closer, he sucks in his cheeks, doing something with his mouth. Lando is confused for all of a second, and then Carlos opens his lips for a loogie of spit to drop out, small at first but growing and dropping towards Lando.

He feels the fight leaves his body, back going flat and pliant to the floor as he watches the loogie descend, swinging between them for a moment, reflecting back the neon lights on the wall behind the bowling lanes.

Lando doesn't know why he does it, a gut reaction from somewhere deep in his brain that tells him it's what he is supposed to do: He opens his mouth.

Something widens in Carlos's gaze, a flash of confusion even as Lando watches his pupils grow. Then, he cranes down slightly, Lando's palms now soft against his shoulders, elbows having some give. He drops the line of spit into Lando's open mouth and Lando softly closes his lips.

They stare at one another, Lando's face and chest suddenly going bright and hot, panic making his chest thrum under Carlos's hands. He wonders if Carlos can feel it, if his heart pounding is like the thrum of the engine through a steering wheel.

But when Lando focuses on Carlos's expression again, Carlos is breathing through his mouth, eyes huge, dark, and unblinking as he stares down at Lando.

Lando swallows.
