Alright baby its done.
Basically, this follows the idea of Eddie making it out of the upside down with everyone, and as I said previously, the government helps prove his innocence using the following information to do so.
Im gonna ad lib in some areas, but if I get anything wrong here please reach out to me, or if you have any ideas to help perfect this little headcanon of mine, I welcome you to message me. I’d love to hear what people think of this and if they’ve got any contributing ideas.
Okay okay, lets get into it.
CASE THE GOV USES AGAINST JASON:
Eddie was seen with Chrissy only because he was rumored to pedal drugs. Records with the counselor show that she had been experiencing severe headaches, among other things, and other students testify that she had been asking around for someone who could provide her “meds” for her ailments
There's two ways that things can go, Eddie can either come clean and announce that he did have and sold marijuana (Omitting the most serious drugs and only taking the fall for what will give him the lightest sentence,) or he can lie and say Chrissy was only invited over to his place to give her company during a difficult time, and try to convince her to not buy from any dealer, and to get help for her issues in other ways.
If Eddie does opt to lie about his drug use I can see all evidence of any being found in his trailer (Because I doubt they couldn't find any when they searched it initially) would be thrown out by the feds to better a pretty picture. They might even surprise drug test him as a cherry on top, and regardless of the actual result, it would no matter what come up clean.
I doubt any people who previously bought from him would come out to say that he did in fact sell drugs, because they would face some sort of retaliation as well. (unless they got some kind of offer from the police? Though the gov and police would be working with Eddie not against him) But if someone did I can see the police and government tossing that out too.
Either way, the same night, Jason attends a party for which he is seen all throughout, but he is the last to sleep and first to wake. He wakes up far before anyone else is, and he sleeps after them all, which leaves hours where he cannot be accounted for.
Jason is then sewn into a story that goes as follows. Word travels to him during the party that Chrissy isn't there, not just because she and Eddie left together, (which was seen by many who can testify) but also that they went to the trailer for drugs. Jason, mad, and assuming that Chrissy is being forced to do things against her will, or that she's cheating, goes to follow and confront the two.
Max may testify that she saw Eddie and Chrissy enter the trailer, maybe that Jason entered later on, but that Eddie left in his van in a hurry, and soon after so did Jason.
What happens in that trailer is a mystery to all. Only Chrissy and Eddie can say, Jason too.
It's believed that while Eddie left to (depending on the option he went with) clean his place to make it more presentable for Chrissy's presence, or to find drugs in his house, Jason comes in and angrily confronts Chrissy. In the beginning it's obvious that he's out for Eddie's head, so Chrissy tries to calm him down and say she's here out of her own volition and convinces him of his innocence. Jason blows a gasket at this, and thinking that either Chrissy is throwing her perfect life away to risk taking drugs and/or cheating on him with Eddie “The Freak” Munson, he grows even angrier and brutally beats Chrissy.
Jason either: Leaves before Eddie finds her, leaving Eddie to scream at the discovery of her corpse, or Eddie walks in on Jason killing Chrissy, scaring Eddie to hell and back, who speeds away and flees the scene before or after Jason.
Eddie went into hiding not just because he was scared, but also because he figured he had no chance to prove his innocence when facing Jason. He also begins to hide and run from the town when its proven that Jason was up for killing Eddie, and that the whole town was after him too
Jason begins to be spun as an abusive boyfriend, as well as an aggressive bully. Friends of Chrissy as well as observers of the couple can vouch and say that they observed cracks in their relationship as well as aggression on Jason's side (against Chrissy)
His hunting for Eddie, his assault on Eddie's friends, speech at the town meeting, confrontation with Nancy, and his assault on the Sinclair's helps tie this web together.
Patrick's death is labeled as a freak accident, not a murder, as even Jason's friends can testify that Eddie never laid a hand on him. The information and manner of his death is never revealed, and he receives a forced closed casket funeral.
Fred cannot be accounted for. He may be seen as a byproduct of a copycat killer.
Chrissy is still left up in the air as being murdered by either Eddie, Jason, or some outside party.
I'm no lawyer or judge so it may not be realistic, but I'm in favor of Eddie being ruled innocent and Jason being put down as the killer of Chrissy, but given that he's the town's good boy, and how Fred doesn't fit well into all this, it's possible that he could get off scot free.
Okay Eddie Munson fans, currently working on a case against Jason. Like a “if the government wanted to prove Eddie innocent as thanks for saving the world” type of deal, I’ll be posting it when it’s done, sometime today I hope.

Okay, Jesus Christ I just finished the last two episodes of stranger things season four, and as a prime Eddie enjoyer you know I can’t just leave it like that, so hooo baby, we’re doing this shit, we’re making it HAPPNEN!!! We’re making fix-it-fics headcanons.
I literally just saw the last two episodes so maybe the headcanons are not the most canonically accurate but it’s better than nothing. I absolutely doubt it but if anyone reads this and wants to take bits and pieces for their own writing, by all means please do, just credit me.
MASSIVE SPOILERS FOR SEASON 4 AHEAD!!
Okay, first off, Eleven manages to fight off Vecna in time. Meaning the gang in the upside down is able to kill him before he kills Eddie or Max.
Max is lifted into the air and her arm is broken, so is a leg, but ultimately gets dropped before she flatlines. She passes out but she isn’t dead, Lucas cradles her in his arms until Erica can call her an ambulance.
Jason is still in the attic, the gate doesn’t open so he doesn’t die. He too is taken to the hospital. The kids are questioned by the police and the story is spun as an unjust assault against Lucas and Erica. All those involved in the assault face jail time, though Jason’s rich family bails him out.
Eddie lives, he’s banged up good but he lives. He thinks he may die, so he lays there in Dustin’s arms as the bats finally dissipate, he gives him his canonical speech before passing out.
Dustin assumes he's dead but has a twang of denial in him. When Steve, Nancy, and Robin return, they give him the best medical help they can and he ends up surviving.
The gate never opens as previously mentioned, and with vecna gone and no earthquake, they all have their happy reunion.
With the attack against Lucas and Erica, Jason becomes a suspect in the death of Chrissy and the brutal attack of max (they assume that her broken arm and leg are a product of him) and the story is spun from a satanic cult to an abusive boyfriend gone mad.
The town still hates Eddie, but at least he’s alive and gets to graduate
Max is in the hospital for a while, where Lucas often visits her. Jason was actually placed in a nearby unit, but after recognizing the two and entering a violent fit of rage where he nearly attacked the two again, he his switched to stay on the opposite side of the hospital, where he waits to face more serious charges.
