Moving to --> thyandrascorner
To anyone still following me: since it has become harder and harder to manage this account, and since I have been inactive for quite a long while now anyway, I decided to just make it official and move to a new sideblog connected to my main. You can find me at thyandrascorner (the new multifandom sideblog) or at bloodycarnation (which is still my main - Tokyo Ghoul only blog).
Thanks for the attention and have a nice day!

So a while back, a week before my first con as a trader, I really wanted to sell Haikyuu prints. But it was a week before the con and I wanted to draw ALL. OF. THEM.
So as one does I experimented with a new style and a new idea, and sure enough I managed to finish these babies (besides Tsukki, Yams, Tanaka, and Ennoshita) and ended up with little Haikyuu positivity postcards! (which ended up being my best sellers interestingly enough)
So I just finished the last 4 Karasuno members and I figured its high time I put these online. RIP
I hope they bring a bit of positive energy to your day ^_^

I have a pressing question that has been in my mind for months. I'm super curious, so hope you can help? I still haven't watched nor read Haikyuu, and I wonder why is everyone so obsessed with Oikawa? Why do they love him soooo sooo much? Omg
Before I answer your question, let me tell you that you’re missing out on something great. Please consider following Haikyuu. I can promise that you’ll come back to thank me if you do.
Ok so, back on topic. I can’t really speak for the whole fandom, but I can tell you my reasons for loving Oikawa Tooru so much. Get ready, because now that you asked me to open my gates, a flood of words is about to come out. You have been warned.
1. Oikawa is a very multi-dimensional character.
You see, the first glimpse we get of him in the manga is during a practice match that the protagonists are playing against an opposing team. He appears out of nowhere, right when Karasuno was about to win, and doesn’t make much of a first impression off-court. He appears like your average, flirtatious and childish pretty boy complete with fanclub attached. Then he steps on the court, and the atmosphere drastically changes. Karasuno immediately understands that despite his deceiving looks, Oikawa is truly, overwhelmingly good at what he does best. And that would be being the ace setter for his team, the best one of the whole prefecture, and one of the best captains of this whole series.
These aforementioned skills include: a killer serve, razor-sharp both in power and precision, that immediately gains him a fearsome reputation, and the ability to draw out the best of every single one of his team mates by means of his sets.
The readers then come to learn that these super sharp and polished claws are a result not of plain genius, like some other characters of this series, including one of the protagonists, but of hard work. Super intense, self-destructive hard work. And here the reader re-evaluates that first impression of a vapid, shallow boy that never existed, and understands that for all his false bravado, for each and every petty remark, every smirk, for all of the childishness he shows, there’s a deeper layer, a much more vulnerable one, for all of his acts, which makes him really human. And that brings me to my second point:
2. Oikawa is a really relatable character.
Many characters of this series are presented like geniuses who have an earthshaking amount of raw talent, and who are, as such, considered the future aces of their respective teams, because everyone can see from the beginning that they’re going to go really far.
Well, Oikawa isn’t amongst them, despite all I said about his incredible skills. Oikawa is, by no means, talented. Everything he does, every individual or collective victory he achieves, is thanks to his aforementioned hard work. He doesn’t have any particular inclination that make him the brightest of his generation, and yet, he sits amongst the brightest nonetheless, and at the same time manages to be looked up to by some of those geniuses (mainly by his underclassman and rival Kageyama Tobio, co-protagonist of this show), and even manages to sit undefeated on the throne for a very long time.
What appears to be an incredibly satisfying position, though, comes with consequences, because, as you might have noticed by now, Oikawa is far from being a perfect character. One of his biggest flaws is that he’s self-destructive.
And here the reader comes to learn the other, darker side of Oikawa’s character: his vulnerable and petty side, which only surfaces when he’s under extreme pressure.
Having grown up in an environment full of competition, he developed this (baseless imho, but indeed really relatable) insecurity that if he lets down his guard, one of his super-talented underclassmen will soon loom over him and outshine his own improvements, taking his place - those very achievements he’s fought so hard to accomplish, even going as far as subjecting himself to a career-threatening injury.
But still, even during his darkest moments (like when he almost punched Kageyama, who was something like 12 at the time, or like when he busted his knee while practicing his jump serve too much, overworking himself), everything Oikawa does, is with a clear goal in his mind: his purpose is that of bringing his team to Nationals. This, he swore, and he’s ready to do whatever it takes not to let his team down. Including pushing his own limits too much, until he finally breaks.
And here’s the one thing that makes me love his character so much: his determination. Faced with so much overwhelming talent from every side (first Shiratorizawa, now Karasuno, too - meaning, his two main opponents), the most human reaction would be that of giving up, right? He never managed to bring his team to victory against Shiratorizawa in years, so he may as well give up by now, right?
And yet, he never does. Not even when his team breaks down, when everyone else crumbles in tears when facing the ultimate demise, he allows himself the same luxury. Imagine how hard that would be, for someone who’s always valued his own worth by measuring himself up to someone else’s standards, imagine how crushing the realization of having failed not only himself, but his team too, would be. And yet, he doesn’t shatter. He doesn’t break down. Instead, he remains the one, solid pillar of his team. He’s the one who keeps them whole when they’re crying their hearts out, offering emotional support.
Has he gained your respect, yet? :D Because I could probably talk about him for hours!
#I may as well reblog this here too#since bloody was supposed to be a TG-only blog#haikyuu#oikawa tooru

Yurio going back to Russia makes me so sad. I'm kinda mad at Victor :(
Yurio going back to Russia makes me feel pretty sad as well. :( The air about him was so incredibly different than that he had previously– He accepted his humility, showing that even he, an angry, arrogant teen, is still vulnerable to other emotions as well as being defeated. Despite this though, he doesn’t give up on skating. I honestly think that such was beautiful character development so far and definitely establishes him as a very well-rounded character.
Anyways, I can definitely understand why there would be anger at Viktor. I can’t really blame anyone for this, as it definitely seems like a unbelievable dick move upon first glace. He forgot his promise again… his memory must be worse than mine! :”D Or is this not actually the case? I want to offer up my own analysation of the events in episode 3 that lead to Yuri returning to Russia.
First of all, I would like to point out that Yuri didn’t wait for any comments or possible compromise from Viktor after Yūri completed his program. Neither Viktor, nor Yūri ever stated that if Yūriwon, Yuri couldn’t remain in Japan and have his program choreographed by Viktor asYūri was being coached, unless there is something I am missing that was lost in translation. Yuri was the one who stated that Viktor would leave Japan and go back to Russia with him if he won. Now, Yūri does not strike me as the type of person who would force a 15-year-old to go back to Russia just so he could have Viktor all to himself, and I think most people agree with that.
A common argument against Viktor and his actions that I’m seeing, that I may as well touch on, as I considered it myself as well, is the fact that there was a hug between him andYūri that did not take place between him and Yuri (man these sentences are getting a bit hard to follow :”D). The same goes for the whistle being interpreted as a sign of approval towardsYūri. Both actions have been interpreted in a way that suggests that perhaps Viktor didn’t encourage Yuri the same way that he did with Yūri…
…However, I think it is important to note that it wasYūri who initiated the first hug, not Viktor. Viktor did not go out of his way to “show more support” toYūri at the beginning with a hug. The other two hugs may or may not have taken place ifYūri hadn’t initiated the first– I can’t say for sure. I would also like to bring up the fact that Yuri did not display the same amount of nervousness thatYūri did, therefore it is incredibly possible that Viktor did not see the need to comfort a skater who, from what he’d seen, did not lack in confidence.
As for the whistle, I personally do not think that such an action would have been an appropriate sign of approval at the beginning of Yuri’s performance, as the whistle was unarguably of sexual nature.Yūri’s program was Eros, its very meaning being sexual, where as Yuri’s was Agape, which was simply not of a sexual nature (not to mention that from a general moral standpoint, a sexual whistle at a 15 year old from a 27 year old would be somewhat questionable. I mention this, not out of my own opinion, but due to the fact that thus far, Yuri has not been subject to the same flirtatious nature from Viktor that Yūri has, and that probably won’t suddenly change).
Finally, I shall bring up the fact that Yuri chose to return. No one forced him to. To restate what I said in my third paragraph, he simply did not even wait for the event to finish. And honestly, I think that’s what makes his development mean more. He could have chosen to remain, to possibly attempt to pull a guilt trip, to derail Viktor’s work in coaching Yūri, or any number of other things, but he didn’t, and showed a huge amount of maturity in making his own choice.
This is my own set of opinions, and in no way am I stating that anyone has to share the same thoughts as I do. I am definitely not trying to shift absolutely all blame off or onto any of the characters, as it should go without saying that we probably don’t know enough about each of the character’s inner thoughts yet to completely understand them and their actions. As I said, this is merely my own understanding of events, and I fully accept that I may be wrong.

I have a few questions:
- How is Akaashi so elegant even as he runs?
- Am I the only one who can picture Bokuto falling flat on his ass a few seconds later judging by the momentum of his jump and his current pose?
- What the fuck is Yamamoto doing with his hands in his pants?

It makes me sad that Tanaka really believes that Satou is idealistic and will really take them anywhere with what he’s doing. Satou is only in this for the thrill, but Tanaka has yet to fully realize it because he’s probably blinded by his own bloodlust (that and the fact that you can’t really imagine how a psychopath’s mind works, I guess).
But this also makes me wonder about his dynamics, honestly. Up until this point we’ve only seen his legitimate wish for revenge against humankind. But at the same time I think he’s at least a bit idealistic. He’s also thinking about the long run. In the manga he started to show doubts about Satou’s directions, he started to mistrust him at least a tiny bit. Tanaka is thinking about their future, about what change they can bring to the ajin world. Satou is just playing the main character in a game that supplied him with endless lives.
So, Satou’s bloodlust is just driven by insanity and probably boredom too. But Tanaka’s? Will we ever get a backstory for him too? I’m curious as to what kind of life he led before he was captured. Did he have a family? Was he betrayed by his own blood? That would explain a lot.
As of now Tanaka is a Follower, not a Mastermind. But I wonder if he’ll take the lead one day, leave Satou, and be the own bringer of his change. I also wonder if he’ll join Kei’s side, or if he’ll oppose him in his own way.
#reblogging this again because yay I saw it coming and yayx2 this is really happening#ajin#tanaka#satou#samuel t. owen
