brooding men who cannot communicate their feelings if their life depended on it are only hot when they're fictional. if i have to deal with one in real life i will curse him and pray for his downfall every night before i go to bed

no one's mentioned how viktor has his cane here even though he's not even standing and it's jayce's hallucination/fantasy
jayce meant it when he said he loves viktor wholly, not excluding his disabilities, and that he thinks viktor's imperfections are beautiful and admirable
viktor's cane, and therefore his disability, is a part of him and not something even jayce's subconscious could cast aside as he was losing his mind. his high opinion and adoring perception of viktor has always included the parts of him that viktor himself views as flawed and shameful

As a wheelchair user I'm trying to reframe my language for "being in the way."
"I'm in the way," "I can't fit," and "I can't go there," is becoming "there's not enough space," "the walkway is too narrow," and "that place isn't accessible."
It's a small change, but to me it feels as if I'm redirecting blame from myself to the people that made these places inaccessible in the first place. I don't want people to just think that they're helping me, I want them to think that they're making up for someone else's wrongdoing. I want them to remember every time I've needed help as something someone else caused.

an ask game for physically disabled people, just for fun; remember that you do not have to answer any of these questions if you feel uncomfortable doing so!
1. were you born with your physical disability/disabilities or were they acquired later on?
2. what would you tell an earlier version of yourself regarding your physical disability/disabilities? (ex. “it gets better”, “you’re gonna be okay”, general advice etc.)
3. are there any positive things that have happened to you due to your physical disability/disabilities?
4. do you have any mobility aids? if yes, do you name them?
5. do you use any type of disability aids? (compression socks / gloves, braces / orthosis, cgm, nebulizer, glasses, hearing aids / cochlear implants, screenreader etc.)
6. do you have any physically disabled friends? (both online and irl count)
7. have you had any surgeries done with the intention of curing or alleviating symptoms of your physical disability/disabilities? if yes, did surgery help?
8. what is something you wish was more understood about either your physical disability/disabilities or just physical disabilities in general?
9. is there something you could do in the past that you can’t do today due to physical disability/disabilities, that you really miss doing? (ex. hiking, playing the guitar, art etc.)
10. if money wasn’t an issue, what is something you’d purchase to help with the symptoms of your physical disability/disabilities?
11. do you have a job? if yes, do you feel accommodated at your workplace, is it working out for you? if no, what type of activities do you do to pass the time?
12. do you ever wish that you could be cured of your physical disability/disabilities? (think an ideal world where there’s no strings attached or negative consequences, no ones forced to take a cure just purely optional etc.)
13. besides “traditional” medications prescribed from a doctor, what have you found helped the most to ease your symptoms? (physical therapy, weed, braces, various liniments etc.)
14. what is the most inconvenient symptom you experience? (ex. unpredictable incontinence, sudden migraines etc.)
15. do you suffer from any psychiatric disorders/symptoms due to your physical disability/disabilities? (ex. PTSD, depression, anxiety, phobias etc.)
16. if you experience any type of chronic pain, what would you consider a “good” day on a scale of 1-10? and what is your normal on a 1-10 scale?
17. starting this question with stating i am pro self-dx. are you diagnosed, diagnosis seeking, or self diagnosed? (note: all of these can be true at the same time)
18. what is your favourite meal when you’re in a bad flare up, when complicated dishes might be hard to prepare?
19. do you live in an accessible home? what would you change to make it more accessible? (ex. ramp, ceiling hoist, stair lift etc.)
20. free space! feel free to share whatever u want about your physical disability/disabilities, maybe a silly story or advice for people dealing with the same issues as you :]
