I like long walks down back alleys and chloroform. My hobbies include tree climbing, observational stealth, and flower arranging.

The duality of man is thinking “children cannot help themselves and we all need to be patient with them as they explore what it means to be human in public” and also “damn, I wish this crying baby was not on the plane rn :/“

really strange how you can be almost at peace with something that happened to you but it will continue to be a defining moment of your life for the rest of your life. you wont think about it much anymore but in a conversation about a film someone will mention the year it was released and you’ll think to yourself, “that was before it happened” and you’ll see an old photo and think how strange it is to have existed before it happened and somehow it’s like living a life in two acts

do you ever tell people you’ll be going to sleep but then you don’t and you have to not do anything noticable online for the sake of it seeming as if you didn’t lie to them

Nuance: Honestly it depends on purpose. Roadtrip vs commute. Most Americans I find can only tolerate so much in a commute, about 30 minutes seems fine go much more than that and we get testy. (Unless youre in LA, a 30 minute commute here is honestly shortish, most seem to be in the 45-1 hour mark but if youre commuting from like the inland empire to LA like so many do including a few friends of mine, it can be about 1.5-2 each way depending on traffic). These days I consider anything shorter than 20 minutes basically nothing. 40-60 is pretty standard, I'lll drive that far to have lunch with a friend then go back home after. 60-120 is annoying ish, so it would have to be something special like a friend who I rarely get to see who lives outside LA, or like a special event or pop up cafe kind of thing. 1.5 hours - 3 hours I would consider a day trip, like heading up to the mountain to skii for the day. Once we get to 4 hours I don't want to do the return trip in the same day if I can help it. I can road trip like nobodies business. Once took the 101 down and the whole 20 plus hours flew by I had a great time. So long as the scenery is nice I can handle a car ride for ages. If it's a trek down the free way its less enjoyable but I manage. I've done the 1000 ish miles from LA to Portland (and once, Seattle) in one leg several times, usually takes me around 16-18 hours. My car gets good milage so I can usually go about 3-4 hours with out stopping (once I made it nearly 6 and basically the entirety of Oregon)
There's a stereotype that USAmericans tolerate very long car rides.

Do y'all remember being a kid and trying to read in the car while it was dark outside and your parents wouldn’t let you turn on the light so you would try to grab snatches of sentences when you passed by street lights

I actually love hearing about reformed people's stories. I love hearing about people who were in toxic communities or people who used to objectively be dickheads talking about how they got out of that. How they made themselves better.
I hate how most people's initial reaction to stories like that are things like:
"How could you have ever done those things?!" "Oh my god, you believed those things?!" "Well it doesn't un-do the harm you did!"
People incessantly advocate for change but then refuse to allow people who have changed the grace of being acknowledged and given opportunities and chances.
I love hearing about ex-antis talking about how they don't spend their days being angry and sending death threats anymore.
I love hearing about ex-homophobes who realized there's no magic law about what is "natural."
I love reformed bullies talking about how they made amends with their victims and spend their days being considerate of others.
You can't scream about wanting people to change but then expect them to spend the rest of their lives stuck in the past and on who they used to be. You can't expect people to spend the entire rest of their lives grovelling and apologizing and demeaning themselves.
Instead of clinging to who they were, latch onto who they are.
Ask how they got out of it. Commend them on changing. Enjoy that there's one less cause of harm in the world.

outdoor cat defenders really are simply some of the most Delusional people on the planet, like you can list fact after fact all with verified sources about how bad it is to let cats outside for both them & the environment around them and people will cover their ears and be like "umm not my frumpkins he knows not to play in traffic & he has magical resistance to coyotes and disease"
