NOTES ON SORCERY AND THE SPELL-CASTERS WHO WIELD IT Unlike many forms of magic as well as types of Magick, much research has been done into sorcery and sorcerers (also called mages, magicians, witches/wizards/warlocks, charmers, conjurers, magic-harvesters, enchanters, spell-weavers, spell-binders, occultists, thaumaturges (that’s a personal favourite; its etymology can be found here for the linguistically-inclined), miracle-workers, satanists, and demon-worshippers but the last two are widely considered magick-slurs and should be retired), and this research has, unusually enough, been conducted by the sorcerers themselves. No other Magick has expressed such desire and enjoyment for studying, developing, and documenting its craft; no other Magick has also had such a presence in the Mundus world while still remaining secretive, mysterious, and protective of their magical secrets.
From the legendary demagogue Great Merlin to the infamous Ingarian, Madame Suliman, sorcerers make their mark upon the world in culture, politics, and history, wherever they go and whatever they do. The following notes seek to explain what distinguishes these great Magicks from the rest.
