The Great Empire
When the Old Gods ruled over humanity, they kept the humans in small towns and villages. After centuries of living like this, Valdir, the god of light, gave one lord a weapon that was capable of killing the gods. The lord used this power to free his city from the rule of their tyrant god.
Decades after, the free city of Seplia became the largest and most influential city on the continent of Sorella. The weapon was wielded by each subsequent lord of the city. When the sword passed to the ninth lord of Seplia, he had the ambition of unifying humanity to finally defeat the Old Gods.
Decades later, the Old Gods had been nearly eradicated and the Lord had almost united all of Sorella. he had formed the Great Empire. This empire would last the next thousand years and bring humanity close to full unity, but after Ramesses' Rebellion in the western provinces, the Empire collapsed in on itself.
When the series starts, the Great Empire is still the dream for many ambitious rulers who see themselves as the next unifier.

The Old Gods
The Old Gods were the beings that came into the world at the same time as humanity. While the origins of the Altar is a mystery, the oldest records in universe describe the existence of powerful beings that dominated humanity. A few of the gods were kind, caring beings who helped humanity grow as a civilization; however, most of them were cruel tyrants who found pleasure in torturing humans.
One god took pity on the humans and gave them a weapon capable of killing gods. Soon after, humanity began its revolution against the gods. Over the next century, humanity successfully united and eradicated the gods and creatures that once lived in Sorella. Few of the Old Gods remain, and even fewer are still worshipped by humans.
Some of the Old Gods:
Draeyr, God of Life
Yuvera, Goddess of Fertility
Unja, Goddess of War
Valdir, God of Light
Rhodes, God of Strength
Matella, Goddess of Dreams
Phemastis, Goddess of Death

Maps of the Altar
Throughout the series, there will be several variations of the same map. The map consists of two continents: Sorella and Adelfos. These continents have very different histories and cultures that inhabit them.
Sorella:
Commonly referred to as "the West", Sorella is the ancestral home of humanity. The continent was once united under the rule of a single emperor, but with the lack of external enemies, it collapsed into ruin. The continent contains the origins of most religions and cultures. Those religions and cultures then spread to Adelfos with the colonizers.
Adelfos
Commonly referred to as "the East", Adelfos has a very different history and culture than Sorella. While Sorella unified to fight the gods and monsters, Adelfos was once the home of them. After humanity cleansed Sorella of their enemies, they traveled to Adelfos and colonized it, bringing their petty kingdoms and cultures to the land. Unlike Sorella, Adelfos still has thousands of monsters that hide in the shadows of the kingdoms, waiting for their time to strike.

Prince of the Altar
The prince of the Altar is a series of novels that I have been working on for the last several years. The series is a dark fantasy set in the world of the Altar (named after the device that is feature throughout the series). The first novel in the series is also named the Prince of the Altar and involves dozens of characters as they fight corrupt kings, uncover the murder of prominent houses, and chase the mythical Altar. A device so powerful, it can reshape matter and timelines.
The world of the Altar is grand and filled with thousands of years of lore.
Gods, magic, and demon-like creatures called Draujurs once populated the lands of Adelfos and Sorella, but by the time of the first novel, they have nearly been wiped out.
The world consists of two continents: Sorella (the West) and Adelfos (the East). These continents are full of petty kingdoms and republics that constantly war with one another.
The characters of the PotA series range from a broken man who is over three centuries old, to a young and ambitious student training to become a squire.
At the moment, the series is planned to be four novels that span over the course of a decade (in the books) and each one ramps up the stakes and tension of the story.
This series has been my passion for the last few years. I have carefully crafted lore that I think is interesting and unique. I have also created a number of drawings and maps for the series to better illustrate the characters and setting.
