Writer, how he wished he could say yes to that. But because he didn’t want misconceptions to arise, he shook his head. “Intern,” he repeated. “I want to be, but right now… I don’t get to write anything that gets published.” Or at all, though he was hoping any of this would lead at least somewhere.
Zhyan nodded with a smile, refraining from saying Astoria was the first and only beach he had ever been to, yet he did hold fond memories of the place. Memories of a person he dearly missed. But before he could say much about what photos he had been looking for, she introduced herself and Zhyan was swept away into the next part of their conversation. “Zakary, and I don’t mind the rambling on and hijacking,” he added quickly with a smile. Or the company in general.
+
“Oh...so you’re like a writer-in-training? Cool!” If anything like that exists, then she hopes that he’s well on his way to getting a real job offer after the internship ends. "A cool name, and you don’t mind my rambling,-” Taylor’s very pleased about that because it tends to happen often, particularly when she’s in a good mood. “-we’re going to get along just fine, Zakary,” she declared with a grin. Taylor took a sip of beverage before asking another question. “Do you have any idea what sort of writing you want to do eventually?”

Leon chuckled. He didn’t always run into Taylor whenever he went the gym, but it was simply because the shifts system at the animal hospital kept him from having an actual 9 to 5 routine, but he actually kind of liked the way things worked for him. He could pick Andy up whenever he worked night shifts, and he could program vacations. It was nice.
Plus, his run-ins with Taylor made things funnier than his regular work out sessions.
“Everything you own? That’s tempting.” He chuckled, offering his hand once Taylor was done stretching. “Besides showering because I’m disgusting, I’m not doing much. It’s my day off and the kid is still at school. Why? Got any plans for me, T?”
+
“Don’t get too excited, I have like only one thing to my name,” she’s exaggerating of course, and couldn't help but laugh at her own folly. “I’m sure we can think of something,” the proverbial wheels in her head began turning. A shower is definitely on the top of the list then perhaps food. “Say, what do parents spend their child-free time doing?” It’s a question that she didn’t believe she had the answer too. Aside from what the memes on the internet shared Taylor never really thought that much about it. “Sleep I’m guessing?” Children seemed exhausting but rewarding in general.

Topher really hated the idea of doing sports. It felt kind of useless unless if it was like competitive team sport. They wondered why people even wanted to do work outs on a daily basis to stay fit… maybe it was this strange obsession with health and self-image, maybe they were just too Topher to ever understand.
Sadly, it was part of being a firefighter that you spend at least four hours at the gym every week. But they luckily had a work-out buddy, which made the time more bearable. Though they were still awkward Topher, wearing a sweat-shirt so big the hem of it reached their knees and they had to pull up the sleeves to get their arms out. “I think that is going to hurt the both of us,” they informed her. “I can barely lift a dog.”
“I was going to pet some dogs in the park,” they said. Which, to anyone who knew Topher, was the most natural answer to any type of late evening event. Walk the park, pet some dogs.
+
Taylor’s stretching got interrupted by her need to burst out laughing. Topher saying that they can barely lift a dog filled her head with imagery of her friend trying to accomplish this task and failing miserably. “This is why we’re holding each other accountable every week to make this happen,” Taylor flexed a bicep. Without making this commitment to one another who knows if either of them would have given working out this much of an effort. “I need to know that my badass firefighting star is in tip-top shape.” Even though Topher’s just a rookie right now, Taylor couldn't wait to see them thrive. “Of course, dog park vibes.” Now why wasn’t Taylor surprised by that response. To say she’s happy that Topher’s back in Astoria is an understatement. "So, the usual?” a little smirk played on her lips as she teased them. “All I see in my future is a shower, food and sleep. Aren’t we a wildly fun pair, especially after gym,” she chuckled.

Zhyan smiled apologetically, not meaning to hog the table, but aware that not everyone did it as him. He was quick to move out of the way regardless of the situation. “Oh no… that would be wrong,” he said, because he truly believed that. “Though… maybe not for the stressed out law student,” he suggested, refraining from being judgmental about people they didn’t know. She sat down and Zhyan felt better for it because at least he hadn’t made himself out to be an insensitive person. “Oh… transcripts,” he said. “They conduct interviews and want me to transcript it,” he said. “Uhm, I intern for Astoria Times,” as if that explained why he was doing such a time consuming task. “But I was… actually just looking at photography blogs on google,” he admitted.
+
While she listened to him talk, Taylor swapped her scone for her travel mug to take a sip of tea. It’s her preferred hot beverage, the only caffeinated drink she indulged in had to be iced, and topped with a ridiculous amount calorie-rich sweetness. At the mention of transcripts there was a bit of confusion that clouded her expression until clarity reigned. “Ah, so you’re a writer? Nice!” she guessed, even though the idea of doing transcripts sounded more like grunt work. But what did she know? "Oh, that sounds fun, I like checking out the ones with beach scenes, sometimes if you close your eyes and imagine that you’re in that moment it’s sort of like taking a mini vacation,” she grinned. “Oh shoot! where are my manners?” she laughed at herself. “Here I am rambling on and hijacking your time without an introduction.-- I’m Taylor.”

setting: mid-morning at Gym Winchester
status: open to friends
Yes! Another workout crushed, or at least done to the best of her ability, but she liked to think the former just to hype herself up. Starting and maintaining a routine like this can be a challenge, so any bit of intrinsic motivation she can stir up, Taylor doesn’t hesitate. “After I’m finished stretching here, I don’t think I’ll be able to move,” she admitted to her workout buddy. From her comfy position on her yoga mat, the Actor continued to run through her regular stretch routine. “I’ll give you everything I own for you to carry me out of here,” she joked.
Taking another deep breath, she stretched her arms up in the air, then out in front of her and down to her sides. Speaking of sides, she then continued to lean to her right then she held that position for a bit. “What do you have planned for the rest of the day?” Taylor wanted to grab something to eat before heading home.

sara.
setting: skye bar, around noon - weekend
status: open | feel free to assume connections
— Sara knew today would be a hard day from the moment she’d woken up that morning, but the reminder on her phone, which included a photo album made specifically for that evening all those years ago, turned even the water bitter. That’s why she was sitting there right now, going through pictures she told herself she’d stop looking through, wasn’t it?
“Are we day-drinking now?” Sara mumbled to herself, in Korean while twirling the glass of rose in her hands. “Wow, Sara-yah… you’ve really outdone yourself. Congratulations…” A single tear rolled down her cheek, which she quickly wiped off and straightened her back while drawing in a deep breath. Sara then closed her eyes and scrolled through her contacts before landing on a random number and calling it.
“Hey… are you busy? Do you feel like meeting and catching up? I’m at Skye… Mkay, I’ll wait for you.”
+
Sara’s call didn’t exactly catch her at a good time, but Taylor could tell from the tone of her voice that she needed a friend. Their friendship had blossomed nicely over the short time within which Sara’s here. Which is why the Shape Shifter didn’t mind tearing herself away from her couch for some day-drinking. Generally she avoids visitors because sometimes getting invested in them often leads to sadness down the line when they ultimately decide whether or not Astoria is for them. While she could understand that some people love being tourists, she couldn’t imagine calling anywhere outside of Nova Pangaea home.
Taylor’s arrival at Skye Bar took her bit longer than she anticipated. Initially her aim was to get ready quickly and be out of her house to make her way from Birchwood to Hearthstone Bay. Alas, she got carried away with her makeup, and quite frankly she should know herself and getting ready that quickly isn’t in her repertoire.
“Hi darling!” she grinned in greeting. “It’s great to see you,” Taylor is genuinely happy to see Sara, regardless of the circumstances. Taylor slipped into the free seat at the table. Out of her peripheral vision she could see the server already making their way over. “Do you need a refill or anything?”

WHEN: Saturday afternoon WHERE: Coffee Spells WITH open
Mug of tea beside him, laptop open on the table, and a whole transcript awaiting his full attention, Zhyan - although known in Astoria as Zakary - had every opportunity to work on what needed to be finished for Monday. Instead he was roaming on the internet, just clicking random things on Wikipedia and Google, without really thinking too much on what he was doing. He found a photographer’s blog to the Ranakpur Jain temple, scrolling through the pictures of a familiar building, searching for familiar faces in the crowd.
He pushed the laptop closed when someone came over to his table, noticing how within the hour he had been there, the whole place had grown crowded, and he was hogging a whole table for himself. “Sorry,” he said, quickly, moving his stuff away with a self-conscious smile. He touched the tea mug to move it too, realising it was cold to the touch, and sighed. “Always the tea.” He pointed at the chair. “It’s free, I’m just… I take far too much space.”
+
Taylor tried to get a seat at two other tables before she spotted Zakary’s as an option. Unlike the previous encounters he looked a lot more friendly, so with her fingers imaginarily crossed she approached. Thankfully, she didn’t even have to utter an awkward ‘hi can I invade your space because every where is full’ spiel. "Thanks,” Taylor beamed. “For a minute there I thought I was going to have to fight you for a space,” she teased. With an invite extended to her, Taylor wasted no time in settling in as a space on the table cleared up. She set down her things and settled into the empty chair.
“The other person I tried to ask practically chased me away from their table,” a slight shrug punctuated her explanation. “They seemed like a stressed out law student, so it is, what it is,” she couldn’t blame them, because she knows how stressful school can be. “So, if you don’t mind me being nosey...what were you working on that required ninety-five percent of the table?” Taylor asked, before taking a bite of her scone.

PLACE OF BIRTH: New Seofonac, NP
NEIGHBORHOOD: Birchwood
HAS LIVED IN ASTORIA FOR: 13 years
BIOGRAPHY
There’s a story behind every person
Taylor is the last of three children born to Ingrid and Leon Moore of New Seofonac, Nova Pangaea. Leon Moore had always been a rebel while growing up, and much to the chagrin of his parents he tarnished the picture perfect image they perpetuated. What Leon didn’t know is that his parents had their reasons. The Moore’s were supernatural beings; they come from Shapeshifter lineage. They struggled to get to the point they are today, and even though Nova Pangaea was the safest place they have ever been, back then the paranoia didn’t ebb yet. Thanks to Leon being kept in the dark about his true nature, he didn’t care about obeying or being cautious. As long as he lived life to the fullest, Leon was on cloud 9. This unfortunately meant going against what they expected of him. Just when Leon thought he couldn’t do anymore damage to their seemingly impervious reputation, he met and fell in love with Ingrid Roche. Their relationship was like something out of a romance novel– too good to be true.
The Roche’s were a family of humble standings in the community, much beneath the ones that the Moore’s had set for their golden boy, Leon. His parents (Naomi and Alfred) could not see beyond class, and rarely let people get close, therefore they didn’t hesitate to meddle in their son’s relationship. Things went sour after that, resulting in a failure of said plans. The lovebirds conquered the obstacles put in their path; rising above the naysayers, Leon and Ingrid left Southwold behind and to set up roots in New Seofonac. They tied the knot soon after the move, and got started on building a family.
Ryan was born first, then two years later the couple welcomed their only son, Noel. After a year or so, their final addition, Taylor, joined the lot. The trio were raised well and had a childhood that left them wanting nothing. Their parents encouraged, nurtured and ingrained in them good values that would carry them throughout life. As the youngest, Taylor lived up to the baby of the family trope and gave the most trouble out of the Moore offspring. The family would always compare Taylor to her father because they were so much alike. They shared a love for the performing arts that rivaled any other members in their household. Whenever they had a chance, the father and daughter duo would fly their theatre loving flags high by; making trips to Astoria just to revel in ‘The District’, breaking out into iconic covers of their favourite songs, and also getting together to gush over the latest Musical or prepare for Taylor’s next big role. Overtime, she found her niche at school within the drama club, she also had private writing and acting lessons added into the mix as she got older.
Throughout her performing life her family has been her greatest supporters, and probably her biggest fans. That same supportive spirit carried over into her love life when Taylor explored her sexuality, among other things. Her best friend in high school became her girlfriend, and while her parents accepted them, Dominique’s family didn’t. As a result, the young couple had to keep their relationship a secret from the Harris’s. Thankfully, a few factors were in their favour, and Taylor’s name and her supernatural abilities were on the top of that list. With those tricks and more in their arsenal Taylor and Dominique were successful, at least up until their high school graduation. At a party thrown in their honour by friends and family, the pair were caught making out by Dominique’s father who made that night one that they would forever remember, for all the wrong reasons. Weeks after their graduation celebration went up in flames, Taylor and her girlfriend were still reeling from the fallout. There was drama, accusations, shouting matches and the like which only pushed the couple to move up their Vision Board timeline. A move to Astoria was planned for a year later for the couple, but after everything that transpired they had to make that move sooner rather than later.
Taylor had her sights set on taking Astoria’s Theatre District by storm. After-all, the stage forever called to her. While waitressing, the budding performer started taking courses at Astoria U toward earning a Bachelor of Arts in Theatre Arts. Taylor’s Astoria life was an adventure. The people, food, and experiences were so different from New Seofonac, it was easy to get swept up in the glitz, glamour and fast paced life. If it wasn’t for the solid foundation she had, the heady Astoria effect could have led her astray. It’s a great thing that Taylor had a good head on her shoulders and was focused on building her career. However, the same could not be said for her girlfriend. Dominique’s emancipated (from her parents) journey started off on a good note, despite what prompted it.
Together the couple worked assiduously to crush their goals. It was certainly not an easy road that they were on, but determination was supposed to be on their side. Unfortunately, all the gung-ho spirit they possess can’t pay the bills. Between odd jobs and other struggles with their own dreams seeming to slip away, the stress began to chip away at their relationship. It also didn’t help when Dominique got involved with the wrong crowd. At least, from Taylor’s perspective it seemed that way because Dominique got distant and secretive overtime. Whatever her girlfriend got involved in caused a rift between them that seemed irreparable. Taylor had never felt more alone in those months. Things weren’t supposed to turn out like this. They were meant to take over the world together, but instead the real world chewed them up and spit them out.
A few years later, Taylor is 27 years old, and Dominique is no longer her girlfriend. With their relationship ended, neither of them moved out initially because of finances. Trying to move on while sharing the same space was a fool’s errand. Dominique and Taylor ended up blurring the lines of their breakup more often than they cared to admit. Yet, it still wasn’t about for Dominique to come clean with her. Around a year later, Taylor got a job as Teacher and finally moved out. The separation is what they needed, and surprisingly they actually managed to maintain a pretty decent friendship over the years.
Within the next 5 years Taylor made her mark on the musical theatre scene in Astoria. Starting out was tough, and if she didn’t have her teaching job it would have been worse. Even though this career was just to ensure that she maintained her creature comforts, Taylor soon came to realize that she loved it. Teaching and exposing young impressionable minds to Theatre Arts was a gift within itself. Still, the passion for the stage never withered. From her first role as The Witch in the musical Big Fish, she has been fortunate to land a few major roles along the way like The Leading Player in Pippin, Esmeralda in The Hunchback of Notre Dame, Susan from Tick, Tick,…Boom! and The Wrong Man where she played Marianna. Taylor’s good fortune didn’t end there, as the next role she scored was that of Elsa in Frozen. It was by far one of the most nerve-wrecking, lucrative and enriching roles she’s had to date. Taylor’s professional life continues to blossom before her eyes, and she can’t wait to see what next is in store for her. Watch out theatre world, here she comes!
