Well...first there was nothing, then there was everything. Then the good Lord saw fit to bring me into this world to kick the asses of those who need it most. So get ready, 'cause this day or the next--it's coming. 616 & MCU Carol Danvers/Captain Marvel

Between real life and other muses here on tumblr, I haven’t been very active on this blog in a long time and I want to change that. I figured the best way to get started again would be to get a little bit of a fresh start. You can now find me over here.

I blame my mother for never teaching me how to pray and you for encouraging my bad habits.
( comfortable calm explodes into action in an instant. an arm hooks around a side rail and she throws her weight to the side, ducking out of range. her free hand gropes for her gun. scrambling up the ladder one-handed takes some work and a few four-letter words but she makes it up in time to crack the butt of her gun across the guy’s jaw. )
Coulson?
‘ because we’re sinners, major, and we must be punished. ‘
that and no matter how many mission accomplished stickers they got on their report cards, they both seemed to piss off just the right people to get candied down into hell.
‘ well, that or we’re just too star spangled fantastic to trust anybody else with the job. can we go with that option, because i don’t think my ego can take anything other ans– ‘
there’s boot travelling at remarkable speeds into his face, ruining his witty repartee. hands slip on the rungs, but one lashes out to grab a leg, half hoisting himself up onto a platform phil really hadn’t noticed.

What, and miss the whole view?
( if her hands weren’t already having trouble keeping traction on the wet metal, she’d slap him on the ass. )
Remind me why we never get sent to storm a base on a tropical island?
‘ too late. ‘
a waggle of the eyebrows, a wink and he’s back to climbing up the fire escape.
‘ try not to look at my ass on the way up, i know it might be difficult, but you truly must stay strong in such trying times. ‘

( carol rolls to her feet and dusts her palms off. her gun stays strapped to her side, adrenaline and that patented air force jockey confidence rooting for a fist fight.
‘your call’--god she loved being a badass. )
The roof. They’re clearing out, not rushing in. Try not to slip on your drool, 007.
‘ no argument here. ‘
the guy groans; phil kicks him and steps over to see if she’s alright. ( and sort of, mostly, to check her out. a little. whatever, don’t judge. )
‘ there’s still three uncleared exits on the other side of the building, but i spotted a maintenance shaft on the roof. it’s your call. ‘

( rising to her feet, she offers darcy a hand up from the table. her assertion aside, it was a little strange to be on this side of things. she couldn’t say she had much desire to switch places but seeing the unidentifiable mass wiggling on the screen had set of more than one twinge in her chest. )
Ah, yes. I can’t wait to hear what their opinions of the sonogram are. ‘Mommy, why does the baby look squiggly? Mommy, is the baby always gonna look like that? Was I squiggly?’
( okay, sue her--she was excited to see the twins’ reactions. she and darcy hadn’t had much trouble deciding they were ready but that wasn’t a talk they could really go into with a pair of three year olds. )
Very creepy. But there’s a cool prize at the end.
( if this is carol’s response before darcy ever gets the belly, she can’t imagine how people will react to her at six months. either way she nods in satisfaction. she’ll take the wins where she can. )
That makes it seem like a guessing game. They might actually like that. This is your baby sibling. Somewhere in the bean.
( the technician hands her some paper towels to wipe the sticky gel from her abdomen, getting things ready to send them off. )
Still think it’s weird that the baby is more amorphous bean blob than baby. Pregnancy is creepy.

( for the sake of staying focused on the asshole trying to sweep her feet out from under her, she resists the urge to roll her eyes. a boot to his chest knocks her off balance but pushes him into phil’s line of fire. good enough. )
What can I say--violence has always been my best color.
‘ always ruining my fun. but for the record – ‘
three steps, two leaps - foot colliding with the side of the rooftop, onto the fire escape and a very cool ride down the ladder, rifle shoved back into his shoulder - one shot to the guy’s kneecap.
‘ – enough to break the ice. what’s up we’re here to kick your ass. major, you’re looking stunning as per usual. ‘

To be fair, most superheroes’ Plan Bs involve some chaotic, near ritualistic suicide of some sort.

( a blind man could see how very little the journalist wanted to help. the last person to try to get to castle through her had hauled her into an interrogation room and ruined her day. carol can’t blame her for her reluctance. if there were a safer way to contact castle, she would have. but an avenger reaching out to the punisher...no. she needed a middle man. and unfortunately, there was only middle man available. )
It’s only Captain when I’m in spandex--Carol most other times, or Colonel Danvers if familiarity isn’t an option. And no, no card. He knows where my hangar is. I’ll be there catching up the books tomorrow night.
( leaning down to fish something out of her bag, she came up with a file and slid it towards karen. )
Charlotte asked me to pass this along. The logo you got a hold of belongs to a group called the Kitchen Reapers. They’re relatively new. Trying to move in between the 69′ers and Satan’s Soldiers MCs. They’re fresh meat but they’re headed for the slaughter.
{ karen bites her tongue, doesn’t mention that she’s positive frank doesn’t want to take care of her. if he did, carol likely wouldn’t have heard he was asking about her until they were face to face. instead she laces her fingers together and sets them on the table. }
All due respect Captain, I’m not Frank Castle’s courier. I’ve been held under severe questioning for something I have no idea about by your husband. I’m not exactly interested about who’s in your hair and how pesky they must be for you.
{ she clears her throat and sighs. because frank is reaching out and he doesn’t ask for help often. god, he never asks for help. it’s probably important. }
So understand that this isn’t a favor to you or your husband, I’m just sick and tired of getting dragged into this. You gotta card I can give him or something?
