I know many of you came for Kacchako, but stick around for Zutara! I’ve started a new aged-up mid-war Zutara fic focused on the Blue Spirit/Painted Lady dynamic. Find it here!

hello! it's the person who asked you about writing fanfiction in a previous ask! i just wanted to say thank you for all the advice. i wrote and posted a small one shot and it was actually kinda well received and it got me writing again and i'm feeling good and motivated and i just wanted to say thanks. so yeah, thank you :')
Good! I’m so glad! Sometimes people look at me like I’m crazy when I say that I think fanfic is an awesome way to learn, but I think that a lot of writers wouldn’t be where they are today without it (even if they would never admit it).

hellooo ok so you said that you were writing ur own stories and trying to move on from fanfiction. i’ve started to write fanfiction (mainly because i want to force myself to write again) but i’m afraid it will make things worse for own stories because my imagination is already terrible and im bad at world building and just most of that stuff would you have any tips for this like things i should avoid doing idk who to ask sorry :-( anyway, i love your writing :) hope ur doing well !!
I actually think fanfic is a great way to practice! I got into writing in the first place because of fanfic and grew from there. With fanfic, you can immerse yourself in someone else’s world/characters and get a feel for what those things are like and how they should work before delving into creating your own. It’s an awesome stepping stone and you can learn SO MUCH by studying someone’s else creations in this way.
I would focus on how you can learn from others rather than being worried about it affecting your own world negatively. When you’re working on a fanfic, take the time to truly study the world and the characters and how everything works together to create a story. Be analytical about it and find what you like and what you don’t like in the world, then use those lessons as you go into your own stories. Focus less on the facts of a given world and more on the general feel and how it works, if that makes sense.
It’s okay to look to other works for inspiration. Without Gandalf, there might be no Dumbledore, for example. BUT think about all the ways in which they are alike and different. If you find something you like in someone else’s work, mold it until it becomes your own.
There’s a famous saying “Good artists borrow, great artists steal,” and I think this is very true with writing. It’s okay to find something you like and recycle it, but you have to make it your own. You have to change it and make it fit into what you’re doing. You have to play with it until it becomes a style of your own. Once you’ve done that, you’ll realize that it probably isn’t much like the original thing you liked at all, but it’s probably better because it’s yours.
I guess the overall point I’m trying to make is that you can’t be a good writer without reading/watching/learning from others. It’s just like drawing or painting or anything else. You can practice by looking at someone else’s stuff (or writing a story with someone else’s world and characters) and that practice will then help you develop your own style/world/etc. Don’t be afraid to use fanfic as a way to practice. I think it’s wonderful.

I was just wondering is there a reason why you discontinued two black dots? I understand that circumstances might have made it so I just wanted to know for sure cause I came across your fan fiction and I love it
Thank you! Yes, unfortunately, the fandom in general turned out not to be a great place for me. There are tons of AMAZING people in it and lots of people that I’m so glad I got to know, but for me the drama and the hate, etc. etc. kind of wore me down. So I won’t be finishing TBD. There is this post on my Twitter detailing generally how I planned to end it, if you’re interested in that! And I am working on original works as well that I plan to post about in the future.

loved two black dots! i love the way you write :) it feels so real and the story is amazing 💗 i don’t know if you’re planning on finishing it but do you have any fic recs for kacchako because i’m dying for some more well written slow burn
Thank you so much! I honestly have no plans for finishing it, but I’m working on original works at present alone and with @nessascribbles so hopefully I will be able to give more info about those in the future! I can tell you now they will likely be mature YA fantasy (so like 17+).
As for fic recs, I’m afraid I haven’t read Kacchako fic in a LONG time, so I couldn’t give recs based on my own opinion, unfortunately. I’ve heard great things about many writers, including EmeraldWaves, KarmaHope, and megwritesfanfiction, but I also feel like they’re probably the ones that everyone recommends so I’m sorry that I couldn’t be more helpful! And I’m also sure there are tons more that I haven’t heard about because I haven’t been very involved in the fandom in a LONG time.

No hate, but I know you said you’d get back to regular posting of SMD but I also noticed the new projects like the Got fanfic (loving it so far!) just wondering if regular SMD is still a priority or we can expect chapter to be posted less regularly. Sorry to bother just really love your writing xx
Unfortunately @nessascribbles and I have left the Kacchako/BNHA fandoms with no current plans of returning. We made a long joint post on twitter as that is where we’ve both been more active. SMD has been officially discontinued and is labeled as such. We’re very sorry to see the fic go and we’re sorry to all those who enjoyed it, but our hearts just haven’t been in the fandom for a long time now and we knew we needed to move on to other projects or risk losing the writing spark entirely.

New Game of Thrones Fanfic up! Hope you enjoy!
We’ve begun a new project!
Like many of you, we were disappointed by the rushed, often out of character ending given to the show, so we we decided to write our own version. The problems can be traced all the way back to the point where George R. R. Martin’s books ended and the showrunners had to write everything themselves. This is not to say that they didn’t do some great things, but they set a lot into motion in season 6 and we want to take it our own way. We are extremely excited and have put a lot of work and effort into this project, wanting it to feel real, for stories and decisions to have weight and consequences. We will be focusing on many of the characters and exploring many new ideas. Beginning at the end of season five and moving forward along our own route, we hope to do these characters some justice. Check it out here!

I started reading “Strip Me Down” and loved the both of your writing skills and went to follow you on twitter and realized that you’d be taking a break from the fandom 😓 I’m really sorry to hear that one person could ruin the experience of the fandom for you, and I hope you can find happiness again with it some day, but just know that you have fans supporting you no matter what it is you’re writing because the two of you are incredibly talented writers! 😊💕
Thank you so much! This is so sweet. 💕😭 @nessascribbles and I have already starting planning fics for other fandoms (currently Marichat and Jily with more to come!) and some OC stuff, so we will keep you posted! Thank you again!

Fanfiction is becoming people’s primary form of entertainment right now because most media right now is so cheap, bland, recycled, and sponsored by people who love money more than the source material. Fanfiction is written for free by people who genuinely love what they’re writing about. That’s why it’s better. That’s why it’s more satisfying. Fanfiction is a home-cooked meal made for yourself and for your friends. Media today is junky fast food spoiled by too much grease and the knowledge that the people producing it are being criminally mistreated and underpaid.
