This series captures the billboards of NYC, but instead of advertisements, they hold cartoony unblinking eyes, saturating the urban landscape with a sense of dystopia. This way of editing my photos serves as a metaphor of surveillance culture of our digital age where privacy is rare. My edits where I exaggerated saturation and intensity aims to evoke a sense of unease; a sense were viewers relate to with the unsettling reality of constant monitoring.

Dystopian Proposal Proposal 1: After Humanity Abandonment
This photographic series will capture scenes of urban decay, focusing on buildings, streets and infrastructure. The streets would be empty, buildings abandoned/crumbled with trees everywhere (AI manipulated). The composition will focus on the contrast between what would be if humans are not living in a certain area anymore. The interplay between light and shadow will enhance the sense of abandonment. To enhance it even more, my photographic series would have desaturated and muted edits. The viewers would get a sense of an eerie and dystopian landscape.
The concept behind my photographs are based on a bunch of what ifs. What if the economy collapses? What if a pandemic happened and we got cut off from the outside world in order to contain the virus? This series aims to convey the consequences of environmental degradation and economic collapse. Through the images manipulated by AI such as crumbling buildings, a lot of trees covering the landscapes and abandoned streets, it will explore the theme of loss, abandonment, isolation and the fragility of human civilization.
Proposal 2: Billboard Eyes
This photographic series will capture scenes of Billboards, which are everywhere in NYC. The billboards would be replaced with a bunch of eyes instead, making it dystopian with such intensity. It would act as a metaphor for how people, nowadays, feel like they have no privacy and are being watched 24/7 (constant monitoring). The composition will focus on the edited eyes on the billboards together with the everyday landscape. Edits would be very saturated making it look dystopian.
The concept behind the series would explore the dark side of society in general, how everyone feels like they have been stripped out of their freedom unwillingly or unknowingly and how we’re being watched by unknown forces out there in this digital age. By transforming the urban landscape into a dystopian area of watchful eyes, the images will explore the nature of surveillance and the loss of freedom.

Project Statement
This project explores the interplay between perception and identity through the metaphors of mirrors. Here, the mirror, as a symbolic portal to the inner world of ourselves, reflecting not only the physical appearances but also revealing a person’s feelings and inner truths. The composition was carefully crafted by centering the mirror, creating the sense of conflict between reality and illusion. This attempt was carried out by overlapping the images instead of manipulating them. People tend to fake their emotions in public instead of actually showing how they really feel. By capturing the moments of truth, self-discovery, and emotional conflict within ourselves, my project aims the viewers to question their own assumptions of self and reality.

Forced Entry Proposal
Proposal 1: Manipulation/control
The subject will be focused taking up most of the composition in the photograph. The main subject in my photographs would appear to be manipulated or controlled by unseen forces. The edit on my photos and the color palette would mostly be muted and dark. Props such as strings, toys, hands and remote controls would be used. As for the facial expressions, the subject would appear to be clueless of them being manipulated or controlled.
The concept behind my photographic series would explore themes of control and manipulation by unseen forces in nature. Everyone is somewhat controlled by our society without their acknowledgement one way or another. Either it’s digital or physical manipulation. We are often told “what to do” and “what not to do” unconsciously. The photographs would be metaphorical in terms of being controlled by the hands of external influences.
Proposal 2: Masks
The subject will be in focus together with the mirror. But with some edits and alterations, I would make the environment of the main subject different from the reflection of the subject. Compositions will be carefully crafted through different types of edits such as value, light, tone and color palette.
The subject in front of the mirror represents reality (a person exposed to the public) and the reflection of the subject represents the person’s true inner self (what they’re thinking or what they want to do instead). The mirror acts as a metaphor, a realization of our innerselves, revealing our hidden thoughts and emotions not shown to the public.
