some thoughts about Yeerk Empire propaganda and my AU for Aftran

I’ve been thinking a lot about the unique awfulness of the main messages that the Yeerk Empire seems to indoctrinate its citizens with. “Our natural bodies are inadequate and weak, we need hosts to reach our full potential as a species”, and “other species are ours to conquer and use as chattel” is such a poisonous combo.

It’s also a really effective combo for the Empire’s purposes. Keep your people convinced that they not only deserve host bodies, but that they need them, and questioning/defecting from the Empire becomes linked not only with personal failure and denying yourself opportunity, but wanting to deprive all of your people of opportunity and progress.

Plus, citizens with low self-esteem make for pliable soldiers.

I haven’t drawn any Animorphs art for a minute, so here’s the return of Aftran 942 in her measuring cup. Maybe Cassie put some flowers in with her to celebrate the anniversary of the day they became friends instead of murdering each other in the woods.

(safety note: while Yeerks have an excellent sense of smell and can appreciate diffused aromas, concentrated chemicals will hurt their delicate skin, so you should never put them in water with perfumes or essential oils. Certain plants and herbs are ok, though.)

that post about negotiation with hoas by threatening to set up a ham radio tower bc the fcc would back you up will not work at all even slightly but i will say that the blood feud between hoas and ham radio ppl is real & eternal. like if you want to get around hoa rules a ham radio person will probably have ideas
