“a sore back should at least earn me bedrest for a few days. it’s the least they can offer after the shit that the sandstorm caused. a petition would be nice, but i’m not even sure they’ll listen to our demands. you some kind of activist? because i know this whole thing has got to cross off a few inhumane acts for treatment of humans in some moral code of ethics.”
“then why aren’t you in bed? this couch can’t be comfortable at all when you’re back is like this. no, they probably won’t. and i’m nowhere near being activist. just seems like a thing that might make them listen if all of us are on board. the least they can do is provide us with one nice thing. can you imagine when it’s peak summer? a pool would be a nice way to relax.”

kalamities:
“Yeah,” he replied, looking up to catch her gaze. “Can’t seem to get to sleep…” … unless the sun was shining. Opening the tube he put a full dab on his thumb before recapping it and setting it to the side. “Well, welcome to the club. We’re doing arts and crafts if you want to join.” His mood had lightened from the previous days– from the newfound energy or being in his element it didn’t matter, but he gave her a genuine smile before nodding the extra pad beside him.
“doesn’t help this place won’t ever feel like home. no matter how hard we try.” she didn’t mind being away from home, but living here wasn’t her choice either. a small smile came to her face, sitting down next to him in front of the pad. “what are you making? or is it just a...free for all sort of thing?”

“well, we’ve got the medic on site, but…other than that…nothing to really help us relax. i tell you what—if we had like a pool or a sauna…i’d be so good with this, but instead, they really want to just treat us like prisoners.”
“that doesn’t really count. they aren’t going to help unless you say something’s wrong with you and sadly, i don’t know if a sore back is going to count. think we can petition for one or something since they’re forcing us to live here?”

“thanks.” kit mumbled, before feeling the girl’s hands in his back. “that’s perfect actually…” he let out a soft grumble with the pressure at his back. “i can’t tell you how much i needed this.”
she smiled softly at his reassurance, digging a little deeper into the muscles on his shoulders. “they set this whole thing up to...make up for whatever that training stuff was. but besides the food, they didn’t give us anything that might actually make us feel better.”

thalia jumped back in surprise, the events from the sandstorm having put her on edge. she’d seen the light on but not the person, stepping closer to see him and the art supplies. “i guess so. can’t sleep either?”
He supposed the sandstorm caused everyone problems in their own way: a messy apartment, closed bar and diner. For Asher it meant his drawings and paintings were strewn about the apartment (but were somehow collected into chaotic piles), half of his art supplies were diminished to reseal any light from coming in the boarded windows, and his lamps were broken. The last was less of a problem and more of an inconvenience– the lamps were usually off anyway but for the sake of emptying his mind into art he still needed them… he still needed to see color.
With paints and pencils scattered around him, he settled himself on the communal area floor and buried his focus into his work with one lamp on to guide him. Despite being past midnight, he was wide awake and despite being engulfed in his sketch, he heard the footsteps near him with clarity.
“Joining the night owls’ club,” he asked as he grabbed a paint tube beside him.

“oh, uh...yeah. sure.” thalia hovered over him, hesitant for a moment before her hands wrapped around his shoulders, thumbs gently pressing into his back.
laying down on one of the couches in the first floor communal area next to the kitchen hadn’t been his brightest idea, but kit was still reeling from all the shit they had all been put through the day before. “you think you could just…give me a massage. nothing weird…just…some kneading in my upper back. it’s real tense.”

jasper looked up to see thalia close to him. too close. he stumbled back into his room, groaning as his ass hit the floor. “no, no just… i just need quiet. please.”
thalia’s eyes went wide as he backed away far too quickly, “are you okay?” she didn’t know if she should try and help, deciding to ask first so as not to scare him anymore. “do...do you want help getting up?”

“i swear to god, be quiet!” jasper yelled, opening his door to the new living area that just so happened to be outside of his door. “i just want a little quiet, is that too much to ask for?!” his head had been killing him since the night before, not quite remembering how he made it back to his room. rubbing at the back of his neck, his body sagged against the door frame. “just please… please be quiet.”
the yelling startled her, a bit jumpy after the events at the training facility. she finished getting her wrist bandaged up before meet jasper at his door, eyeing him up and down. “i’d ask if you’re alright, but...can i get you anything to help?”

what is your daemon?
your result: hummingbird
your daemon is flighty, distracted, creative, imaginative, perfectionistic, visionary and dainty. your daemon serves as your muse and go-between, allowing you to access ideas and information that would be difficult for others to find. though s/he seems harmless enough, your daemon can be quite fierce if the situation calls for it.

csxblu:
open
he’d known that something was happening before the announcement. the rush of people taking shelter inside the building had been a near shock: one second he’d been barely coping with the sensations and the inputs and the fear, but then the invisible hand around his throat tightened its grip, and his lungs were dry and there were too many people and no place to focus and caden had slammed himself into the wall, trying to make himself as small as possible. “please stay away,” he choked out, a hand thrown out in a physical attempt to make the sensations stop increasing in intensity. “i don’t know how to stop it.”
thalia couldn’t help but notice the amount of people concerned with what was happening outside, the feeling of panic palpable throughout the room. she was trying to stay calm herself, even if her insides were going crazy with worst possible outcomes to all of this. thalia saw the other going against the wall, stopping in her tracks with her hands up. “okay, okay. i can stay back here....just breath.” she said calmly. “it’s only a storm and will probably be over soon.”

indiasandoval:
For India, who despite everything had managed to remain considerably calm through the initial part of training, it was finally starting to wear on her but the storm raging outside was the thing to finally tip the scales and not in her favor. One thing was to self distance on your own terms and another very different thing was to be forced into confinement, especially with a group of people who although were not all unpleasant company, were certainly unpredictable with their abilities—herself included. On any other day, if she was feeling claustrophobic during a session, she could always look outside the window but now, the only thing she could see was sand clouding the view in every direction. Cabin fever was definitely setting in early.
A flickering of lights overhead made her stomach clench and she looked to the person at her side, perhaps as a distraction. “I guess we’re having a chaperoned, adult sleepover.” There was a hint of concern laced into her tone. “How long do you think the electricity will stay on?”
thalia had been so focused on her own power, the sandstorm went unnoticed until the other’s around her started to panic. she’d gone to the window to see what it looked like, quickly retreating to a safer part of the building. the flickering lights didn’t help to calm her nerves, a wimpy smile crossing her features for a brief moment. “not exactly what i was expecting to do after this was over.” her eyes glanced up at the lights, shoulders coming to her ears in a long shrug. “hopefully, until this passes. i can’t imagine having to be stuck here and it be pitch black.”

“i…can’t just use it when i’m bored. i’m clearly under-qualified. but my…ability…it doesn’t just…happen. i have to really work for it.”
“i mean i can’t do anything crazy when i’m bored, and usually it takes forever and i use a lot of energy. but i have managed to revive a dead plant so far. that’s pretty fun. growing something though, that takes a lot of work. the easiest part so far was getting our power apparently. everything else is going to take time.”

“then show them. make something crazy happen, and then they’ll have to listen.”

“maybe they didn’t want any loose ends to have to tie up in case something went wrong. seems like while we’re here, there isn’t much they can’t control.”
“well until we actually learn how to control the powers we have, we could be a real force. i mean a group of mutants? we could be real badass one day.”

“probably use us for some super powered army shit or something, which i did not sign up for. but who knows…trust is a two way street. if we show them that they can trust us, maybe they’ll show us that we can trust them.”
“i get that, but trust also involves actually giving us more information than they have. it’s still early though, there could be time for that.”

“yeah, ‘course i looked around. it’s kind of silly for these people to think we’d be able to actually do anything since we haven’t had any time to even practice since we’ve been in their custody.”
“you don’t just use it when you’re bored in your apartment?”
