Jfc okay i have to yap abt this series bc it makes me fucking insane and now i’m unable to rest
Because wow. LG really went back in time with full intention to kill Vein, and it’s foreshadowed very nicely:
As i was watching ep2 for the first time, this scene immediately stood out to me bc of the color of the threads… and the fact that right after this scene we get the after-credits of Vein walking around is no coincidence.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Mm so. Something something about how threads are a common metaphor for a human’s life, and cutting them results in their death… and they are an ancient metaphor for fate and destiny as well (for example, the Moirai in greek mythology)
Tumblr media
Soo isn’t it quite fascinating that Vein’s design incorporates A LOT of red lines and threads, not to mention that he has his hair threaded in a neat red braid too…
And what’s even more interesting: in some of the official art his hair turns grey/black at the end of the braid… Which is not the case in any of the Bridon arc episodes btw. His hair is fully red in the original timeline, in Xia Fei’s memories, in the op and ed, and even at his death.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
So now that he’s revived by whichever means, I assume his hair’ll be grey at the ends from now on, symbolizing how the thread of his life and destiny was unjustifiably cut short.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
But ig we’ll have to wait and see… or maybe i’m entirely wrong, who knows lol
I might be reaching w all of this, OR it might’ve been pointed out by someone else already. I’m genuinely unaware and clueless bc i’m extremely new to this show… as in i’ve only just finished binging all 3 seasons this very day.
So yeahh, i haven’t read any theories yet, i’m not even sure that i understand every established fact correctly, so i’m definitely planning on rewatching all 3 seasons to note down all the details and… just the plot in general😭😭
Bc holy shit this series is so fucking complicated, i feel like it’s tearing my brain apart into the tiniest of pieces and then throwing them in boiling water to marinate… like omfg, i swear couldn’t put a single coherent thought together while binging the episodes lmaooo

Some extra thoughts I am thinking after rewatching some Bridon scenes
So why'd Qiao Ling make that face when Cheng Xiaoshi brings up Bridon huh? I very well could have missed the explanation for this but it is DEFINITELY notable
Vivian case. Hallway scene. CXS yellow eyes. This part happens before they even consider going to Bridon. What makes this significant enough to cause someone, whoever it is, to dive into Cheng Xiaoshi's body? What's important enough about this someone needed to come and change it?
Could definitely be wrong and this isn't that important but the basketball scene in ep 1 I am inclined to believe it was Lu Guang's first dive back. We know damn well the Link Click crew aren't against mixing up timelines in the exact same scene, so I just found it interesting how confused LG looks when he appears back on the court. It's like he's not used to how it feels, possibly also explains why he was so rattled when convincing himself that "he's fine"
And idk I just love that Lu Guang just moves in. "You got hurt and I have superpowers so I'm just gonna stay here I think" and then he does. I do think it's a really funny dynamic that for the SIDE BUSINESS he's the boss but when it comes to the photo studio himself he just hangs out there. I'm pretty sure he's technically not an employee he just lives there and works anyway

My favourite analysis on Lu Guang's answer to the animal riddle is that he said detective, partly because he sees himself as guilty, by @curapicas (2025). (thanks muninnhuginn for finding the link!) However, I posit another answer: everyone.
You can set a forest aflame with a match, sure, but that doesn't cause devastation on the scale of lifeless charcoal. Where I live, our forest are born to be burned. Pockets of wildfire open up cracks in the canopy, letting sun shine on young trees; nutrients are released back into soil; the jack pine tree needs fire to reproduce (Natural Resources Canada, 2024). Wildfires have become an issue for us recently for one major reason: mismanagement.
Forest fires are bound to happen. Delay it endlessly, leave thousand of acres of standing, old wood, and that's when a forest fire becomes truly ravenous. Was it any one creature's fault? The fault of the elephant for dutifully putting out small sparks whenever they were seen? The fox for watching the forest grow thick and overcrowded without speaking up? The rabbits for planting the grasses that they adore as food? No one could have seen it coming, yet, everyone could. It wasn't anyone's fault. It was everyone's fault. It was a tragedy. It was an inevitability. Lu Guang would know: he's been fighting that inevitable fire for years.
A forest fire, and a death node. Never any one singular person to blame, one single factor that caused the fire: always a collision of dozens of entangled threads. Cheng Xiaoshi's death was never caused by one singular person, and the fire was never set by any one creature. The animals of the forest, in their attempts to make the forest a better home for themselves, set the stage for it to burn. The people who love and are loved by Cheng Xiaoshi, in their actions to protect him, attract the attention of executioners. 引火上身。*
Fundamentally, it's the same as Cheng Xiaoshi's answer -- that sometimes lightning strikes your life, and that's that. Only, Cheng Xiaoshi says 'it wasn't anyone's fault, no one did anything to start it'. Lu Guang, and maybe Vein, too, say 'they were all at fault, no one did anything to prevent it'. Lu Guang answers everyone, because he has come to see disasters as not the result of a singular person's actions, but rather a product of everyone's decisions. Even though Vein may not be a time traveler well-versed in the crowdfunded nature of tragedies, he still may well be cynical enough to write off the idea of innocent victims.
Lastly, consider that Lu Guang doesn't plot Vein's death because it would prevent him from killing Cheng Xiaoshi. He does it because it creates a new node; a new fire. Controlled burning**.
*Meaning "to attract fire onto one's own body." An idiom for when you cause your own problems, especially by attracting the attention or ire of others.
**An actual forest management technique where you set small, controlled fires, which clear out the dead wood and fulfill the same purposes as a big fire without it getting out of hand. Many Indigenous peoples have been doing it since forever. (BC Wildfire Service, 2022)

Why I think Lu Guang's answer to the riddle was the detective:
It's given at the same time Cheng Xiaoshi gives his own for misdirection. The one who gave the same answer as CXS was his own dad, a guy that for all his failings, was loved enough by SYY to try and change his death node - WQ is also attached to him, therefore we expect/hope CWM has an ethical side to himself; meanwhile the one who gave the same answer as LG was Vein.
It happens right before LG bets on Vein being murdered on that room, an antithesis to CXS changing the past for what he hopes is for the best to those involved (note: I'm fine with the guy trying to fix a death node by dumping a death node on his bestie's murderer, just pointing out them as a partnership don't EVER do things intending to eliminate the bad guys, ya feel me?)
CXS' answer presumes innocence (more on how to me, this reflects on link click's overall messages under the cut), but LG is analytical; he'd take in consideration that the detective is poor and the animals had a coin;
the riddle states that "you" are the detective. LG spends yingdu burdened by knowledge and trying to solve a disappearance along with CXS; we also know LG feels guilt over what he's doing and CXS' death (which is why he was harsh on Vivian not deserving CXS' sympathy when they were on the phone). Therefore, he not only has been functioning as a detective throughout yingdu and link click as a whole, but also presumes guilt for himself (meanwhile Vein presumes that ppl have hidden intentions like he usually does, I guess)
In other words; LG answers he's the detective bc he not only takes the seemingly innocuous clues into consideration, but by the end of yingdu he feels guilty and burdened by what he has done and feels he has to do. A far cry from the 1st episode, where he identified with the noble heroine who goes into a doomed quest; now he thinks of himself as the sharp detective who would burn a forest down to get what he wants.
Now, personally I vibe with LG and CXS pointing to two different directions: LG makes the audience aware that amidst all of the tragedies in link click, someone is benefiting; there's a person or a group who doesn't care others are being stepped on, which has been the case of the antagonists so far, be it LX or the typical bullies; and LG puts himself among them, since he doesn't justify to himself he has noble intentions so it's okay that they won't help with Emma's investigation, for example.
CXS is the other side of link click: actually, bad things will happen without anyone meaning to, as is the earthquake, the noodle lesbians' divergence, the time nodes getting messed up by well-meaning intentions.
Note: The big takeaway here is that LG thinks it's the detective bc he thinks he's the detective and LG knows himself as guilty. Not that his answer was (or wasn't) the most logical/obvious and CXS' was too naive, I'm actually trying to prove that even if he answers purely using logic, LG is being emotional about it too! A correct answer is NOT the point of the riddle
btw, the positive spin of LG going from the tragic heroine to the cruel detective is that he no longer is passive about fate, and sees it as something that can be seized, which gives him hope

Xia Fei's whereabouts
I've thought about it for a bit (2 days to be exact), and I found an theory that could potentially make sense, so hear me out...!
Tumblr media
Bridon Arc Episode 6
from the last scene of Bridon Episode 6, we know that Xia Fei went missing 3 years after bridon arc and also after the "Li tianchen, Li tianxi incident", but what else also happens 3 years after bridon arc and after the "Li Tianchen, Li Tianxi incident"
Tumblr media
Season 2 Episode 12 (btw I love this scene so much help-)
Liu Xiao returning to China and "recruiting" Li Tianchen (atleast in the original timeline, but I'll believe Vein "dying" doesn't effect this event), and it is also confirmed in an earlier episode that Liu Xiao only came back from Bridon recently.
Tumblr media
Season 2 Episode 1
After what we've seen in Bridon arc, I'll assume Liu Xiao "recruiting" Li Tianchen is probably the start of his and Vein's plan in china (ignoring what Vein has been doing on his end), basically they're gonna cause havoc, but where am I going with this you may ask.
What if, Xia Fei returned to China with Liu Xiao, which basically implies that he's still working with Vein and Liu Xiao, whether that be because he knows what Lu guang did or something else, that's for another theory, anyways for obvious reasons (cause he's famous and all) he had to sneakily take a plane from Bridon to China with no one noticing. And in that case, he would indeed be considered "missing" to the people of Bridon and China etc, but not actually missing if you get what I mean.
Tumblr media
Bridon Arc Episode 6
Plus, Xia Fei got to know about the “時光照相館” so that's one way to explain why the season 3 gang would know where Cheng Xiaoshi and Lu guang are (not like they need it though, there's probably hundreds of other methods for Vein and LX, plus Li Tianchen probably knows, but just something to note)
On an unserious note though, I wonder how that plane flight would look like😆 or would Xia Fei make sure he doesn't sit next to Liu Xiao on the plane, that is, of course if Liu Xiao doesn't buy the tickets for him, and basically forces Xia Fei to sit next to him- you know, friendship and stuff
Tumblr media
Bridon Arc Episode 6
And you may ask, "But what about that Jack guy that literally none of us care about" ahem, the other missing model — Jack, and look, I actually have no idea why he's reported missing at the same time. Oh but while I was brain storming, one thing (not related to this theory) came to mind, which is, what if he was disguised as Vein so Liu Xiao could get the real Vein out of the mortuary, but alas, I don't know how that would work, cause like a ten is a ten and well, Jack....Jack's not a ten. Ok,ok on a serious note, I think it could still work with enough make-up and stuff, but like...it wouldn't make sense for him to be reported missing 3 years later, unless people just don't give a sh*t about him, like us.
And I have another weird thought about Jack's disappearance, for context though, I was watching someone talk about Xia Fei possibly getting an ability from someone before or during Season 3, and don't know why but Jack came to mind, I was like "what if Xia Fei (or LX) killed Jack to take his ability or something" but the more I think about it, Xia Fei, being in the Bahati school, which is assumed to be like a school for kids with abilities, probably has a higher chance of having an ability than this Jack guy, so....
If anyone has any guesses regarding Jack, or is able to link a Jack theory to the "Xia Fei flew back to China with Liu Xiao theory", please, be my guest😌 but yeah, that's basically all I have for you all.

Analyzing "Lull"
Verse 1:
"The Endless Night, The Intertwined Smoke of Repeated Cycles, Could I See Again, The Red Maple Leaves")
"Smoke" and "cycles" evoke the idea of an endless loop, which can represent both time travel and emotional pain that seems to have no end. The "red maple leaves" symbolize a cherished memory, something beautiful that is no longer within reach but which the protagonist desperately longs to recover.
Verse 2:
"没法预测的落点在时间的缝隙中蔓延雨滴般透明的谎言拒绝" ("The impossible-to-predict falling point, Spreads in the cracks of time, Transparent lies like raindrops, Rejection")
The "falling point" reflects the uncertainty of fate: you never know where you will end up. This may be a direct reference to Cheng Xiaoshi's missions, where he cannot predict the exact consequences of his actions. "Transparent lies" allude to the illusions we make for ourselves to justify our decisions, while "rejection" indicates a resistance to accepting the painful truth.
Verse 3:
"直到一切都不再需要妥协无论过去还是不变" ("Until there is no need to compromise, Regardless of the past or the unchangeable")
Here is a hint of a final acceptance, a surrender to the inevitable. "Not needing to compromise" means to stop trying to change what cannot be altered, a recognition of the weight of fate and the impossibility of completely rewriting the past.
Chorus:
"Once again I see those images, That only provoke a surge of emotions, Without asking what the future will be likeI only feel the pain in my eyes now")
This passage describes how memories from the past generate intense emotions and, at the same time, pain. It speaks of living in the present moment, despite the uncertainty of the future, and of dealing with the emotional impact of those memories.
Verse 4:
"An indescribable perception, Opens a little, Out of control and unrecoverable, The burning heat burns my vision")
This verse reflects a loss of emotional or even physical control. The "indescribable perception" can be intuition or an overwhelming feeling that leads the protagonist to face something inevitable, something that burns and leaves an indelible scar.
Verse 5:
"思绪迸发回转跳跃最后能捕捉到你的瞬间直到我们越过了漫漫长夜"("Thoughts burst, spin, and jumpI can finally capture a moment of you, Until we cross the endless night.")
There is a mix of mental chaos and a moment of clarity here. The "capturing a moment of you" could be a cherished memory or a fleeting connection with someone important. The "endless night" represents struggle, pain, and time that seems to have no end, but there is hope in "crossing it."
Repeated chorus:
"就算过去不能重写不愿看到那些只能让心跳冷却的执念"("Even though the past cannot be rewrittenI don't want to see those obsessionsThat only make my heart cold")
The emphasis here is on the acceptance that the past cannot be changed, but also on a resistance to getting caught up in obsessions or memories that cause pain. It is a call to move forward despite emotional scars.
Closing:
"When will I be able to fulfill my wish? Countless times I returned to the starting pointWhat words, Could bring me comfort?")
The ending is deeply melancholic, with a desire to fulfill something that seems impossible. Returning to the "starting point" suggests a repetitive cycle of failed attempts. The protagonist seeks comfort, but it seems that words are not enough to ease the pain.
Overall interpretation:
This song encapsulates the emotional struggle of coming to terms with loss and the impossibility of changing the past. It speaks of the beauty and pain of memories, of the longing to capture what is gone, and of the effort to move forward, even when fate seems insurmountable. It is a reflection on the fragility of human emotions and the complexity of time and decisions.

"It seems everything is changing. If death cannot be avoided then it might be better to face it now"
If we take the theory that Lu Guang was the one who died in the original timeline and Cheng Xiaoshi sacrificed himself in exchange for Lu Guang''s life. A scene at the start of Ep01 Season 2 can support this theory. Lu Guang accepts the stabbing as his fate??? Maybe lg knows what happened and what cxs did for his life, but lg just can't let cxs go and wants to find a way to save him too???? (Also maybe Vein is after them bcz of this, cxs clearly made a pact to exchange his own life for lg but lg tries to bring him back again and again, breaking the rules???)

manifesting lu guang's death in Yingdu last episode 🕯️🕯️🕯️🕯️🕯️🕯️🕯️🕯️🕯️🕯️🕯️🕯️🕯️🕯️🕯️🕯️🕯️🕯️🕯️🕯️🕯️🕯️🕯️🕯️
cuz see, if he dies in the prequel then he definitely survives in S3 right? I mean if he has already died, his death can no longer be a shock factor at the end of Link click. I am coping so hard.
But honestly, why do we theorise shits like "at the end, lu guang will fix things, cxs will survive and lu guang will vanish/die/no longer exist in that timeline" ? because CXS died , at least once, so his death in our timeline is very anticlimactic. It won't make sense. He IS dead, how many times do you want him dead? But for lu guang, we theorize crazy shits of sacrifice and people forget him. If he dies in the prequel, most certainly this same thing can't be repeated at the end.
They both died. They are both diving to save each other. Vein/Xia Fei whoever the fuck is that who aims to kill Lu Guang, do you think they never succeed???? eh????
also the sus line from Vortex
Knowing it all, am I destined to fall?
Like once you did for me.
Fall means death, I presume. There is a strong sense of reciprocity. NGL the more I listen to Vortex now, it feels like it's from Lu Guang's pov and The Tides , where I used to think that Fan ka's lines are Lu Guang's pov and JAWS's are Cheng Xiaoshi, I am feeling more and more uneasy. The pov seems to blur. Even dive back in time
All the heartaches and smiles never faded
I know you will be my side when we make it
come back from the dive
back in time
I DON'T KNOW I AM CRAZY and I desperately want Shiguang to be together at the end ALONG with Qiao Ling.

The cycle of sacrifice
In the original timeline, Lu Guang was the one who died. Perhaps it was an event that deeply marked Cheng Xiaoshi, pushing him to search for a way to reverse that fate. He discovers the power of time travel, but with a hidden condition: every time he changes something significant, his own fate comes closer to sacrifice. Thus, Cheng Xiaoshi might have made a deal with “someone” or “something” (perhaps the rules of the universe itself), where he traded his life or his repeating fate to save Lu Guang.
The “halo” that appears over Lu Guang could symbolize that, after that deal, he became something more than just a human, like a temporal anchor that ensures time doesn’t completely fall apart. This would explain why he always seems to be aware of timelines and changes: he is aware of Cheng Xiaoshi’s sacrifices, but he can’t say it openly because it would break the rules of the deal.
However, in each timeline, Cheng Xiaoshi ends up dying or sacrificing himself, and this could be because the universe is trying to restore its balance. Lu Guang could be caught in a desperate struggle to protect Cheng Xiaoshi, knowing that his life was “borrowed” from him and that he is dooming his best friend.
Perhaps the end of the story will revolve around a heartbreaking choice: Cheng Xiaoshi must decide whether to accept his fate to save Lu Guang one last time or if they both must break the cycle, even if it means Lu Guang loses the life he was never meant to get back.

My theory is that Lu Guang takes Xia Fei hostage to use him as leverage against Vein, and that’s why we have that scene in the ep6 preview of a guy wearing short white sleeves pulling Xia Fei back (only LG has been shown wearing short white sleeves). Xia Fei realizes he can’t have new friends, Vein goes ballistic, Cheng Xiaoshi dies, and Lu Guang is traumatized into a new timeline 😎

what i find really interesting is that when qiao ling was possessed, she talked about punishment and the "game" restarting due to breaking the "rules"
Tumblr media
but you know the only other character that really talks about punishment:
Tumblr media
which is odd to me, meaning that the Red Eyes we saw in S1 cannot be the same red eyes as in S2, because if that truly was the case, Li Tianchen technically should enjoy killing and know about this "game" or so-called punishment throughout S2. Moreover, the killing styles are different since Li Tianchen kills others through suicide and specifically remembers his first kill as such.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
however, i find in interesting when Red Eyes makes these claims because throughout S2, we never see Li Tianchen address this ever again or try to take Cheng Xiaoshi's powers via death which we see when qiao ling gets hers from li tianxi or when cheng xiaoshi died in the previous timelines. this means that Red Eyes already knows of the existence of other powers, i.e., probably lu guang, and how to take them as well; either from their own knowledge, or perhaps someone else (i'm looking at you, liu xiao). it could also explain lu guang's surprise when he learns about "someone having the ability possess spirits" as he probably never reached this far into a dive (assuming this actually takes place in 22/10/2021). this is also supported by the fact that in the yingdu/bridon arc when lu guang had a nightmare, cheng xiaoshi didn't say anything about the xu shanshan case.
and the only way to reset the "game" is technically to kill off the one who keeps doing that and the one who possesses the powers to dive back in time.

Left is Up; Right is Down
This is a continuation of Red and Green; Up and Down (aka Traffic Light Theory)
In traffic light theory, I talked about how, in Mandarin Chinese, time is viewed vertically: The past is above you, while the future is below you. Thus, Past is Up, and Future is Down.
However, Yingdu is fictional England. And in English, time is viewed horizontally: The past is behind you, while the future is ahead of you.
But as there are no Behind and Ahead in the four cardinal directions, let’s just adopt the two directions on the x axis, Left and Right. And since English is also written from left to right, then we can say: Past is Left, and Future is Right.
So, in the context of time, Left and Up are the same, and so are Right and Down. To summarize:
Past = Left/Behind = Up
Future = Right/Ahead = Down
(Remember the list above. It will be important.)
Miya, why are you talking about more directions? Was Up and Down not confusing enough???
Because Vein is fucking ambidextrous. That’s why!
In YE1, he uses his Left hand to hold a gun meant to punish Lu Guang for changing the Past.
Tumblr media
But in the YE2 nightmare, he uses his Right hand in a Green room while chasing Lu Guang Down:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Then, in the Red room, Vein’s Left hand is emphasized when he pulls Lu Guang Back (Behind)
Tumblr media
In YE3, when Vein reaches out to save Xia Fei who was Under(Down)-water, he uses his Right hand:
Tumblr media
But after he pulls him Up, his right hand is completely hidden while his Left hand is in focus
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Conclusion
Once again, I bring you no definitive answers. But there’s definitely something about Vein’s hands and how he uses them for his power (whatever it may be). I’m still waiting for a Vein-centric episode to confirm my speculations.
But for now, I’m dragging the rest of the fandom into confusion :3

Traffic Light Theory
A series of posts analyzing the significance of colors and directions in Link Click: Yingdu Chapter
Tumblr media
(Read them in the order set below. Otherwise, it won’t make sense.)
Initial Thoughts (there are some good insights in the replies of this post)
VeiFei: Blood and Fire
A little about Yellow: Xia Fei’s Baptism
Red and Green; Up and Down (this one’s the most important and is where the title “traffic light theory” comes from. see also some interesting additions in the reblogs)
Vein’s Hands
Left is Up; Right is Down (part 2 of #4)
Currently working on: The significance of Yellow, and how Xia Fei is the key to everything
Other points I might analyze on:
Xia Fei and Red Vehicles
ShiGuang is Blue
Liu Xiao is Violet (Blue + Red)

I don't think they would do this, but wouldn't it be fucked up if the Cheng Xiaoshi who died in the first Bridon episode was actually post season 2 Cheng Xiaoshi? Like the Bridon arc isn't really a prequel. It's another redo following after Cheng Xiaoshi dies again.
What if the Cheng Xiaoshi we first knew and loved is dead, just like Lu Guang's is?
