Get Away on a 2-Night Cruise: Port of Palm Beach to Grand Bahama Island
Get ready to embark on a quick, easy, fun 2-night getaway that makes you the captain of your amazing experience. Best of all, the Bahamas Paradise ships set sail every single day of the week, so they’re ready to go whenever you are. both of their ships (Grand Celebration and Grand Classica) are packed with fun and activities for everyone. The moment you board, you’ll never be bored. Dance under the stars, or really wherever the moment strikes, because everyone else will be dancing, too. Dine to your heart and stomach’s desire as you pair your meals perfectly with your favorite handcrafted cocktails. Let the freedom and relaxation of the sea come to life as you enjoy a treatment in the spa. Roll the dice in the casino and own the night. Sit back and enjoy amazing live entertainment, from Vegas-style shows to late-night comedians. And as you stop at Grand Bahama Island, the fun is just starting. Explore the island, enjoy the beaches or just shop for that perfect tropical souvenir. It’s all waiting for you!
I recently had an opportunity to tour the Grand Classica -- the 2nd ship in the Bahamas Paradise fleet -- home ported in Palm Beach, FL.
With two ships in their fleet, the cruise line gives guests the flexibility and convenience to take advantage of a two-night getaway any day of the week. Basically, you sail out one day and wake up the next morning in the Bahamas. After spending the day onshore, you re-board the ship, enjoy the festivities offered by an amazing crew, then wake up the next day back in Palm Beach. This short cruise is a great option if you just want to quick get away, or want to enjoy time on a cruise ship, or maybe just hop on over to the Bahamas for a day of shopping. Their daily departures also add a number of options to a unique Cruise & Resort Stay offering, with guests able to add any number of nights at a Grand Bahama Island hotel.
STATEROOMS:
The Grand Classic includes at a total of 658 staterooms and suites:
The ship offers10 suites located on deck 10. All feature a balcony, queen-sized bed, bathroom with shower and large jetted tub, sitting area with pull-out sofa bed and large closet, sleeps up to four.
430 oceanview staterooms are situated on decks 4, 5, 6 and 7. They’re comfortable and spacious, and feature cream walls and showcase a variety of upscale furniture, including a desk, table & chair, flat-screen television, large picture window (or porthole) and private bathroom with shower. Sleeps two, three or four guests.
There are 216 inside staterooms on decks 4, 5, 6 and 7. These are also comfortable, and offer a great value. They feature a variety of sleeping accommodations, a desk, table & chair, flat-screen television and private bathroom with shower. Sleeps two, three or four guests.
DINING:
There are eight dining options offering different cuisines and new concepts:
The Yellow Elder – The main dining room, is complimentary and was named after the national flower of the Bahamas. Two seating times will be offered for guests. A portion of The Yellow Elder will also offer MyTime Dining for those who prefer flexible dining times.
I had lunch on board and was really impressed with the selection offered on the menu, as well as the quality of the food. Between my companions and myself, we were able to taste each of the Appetizers served that day:
I chose the beef for the main course and it was perfectly prepared and absolutely delicious!
Several in our party chose the salmon and they were super impressed!
And no meal is complete without dessert! I had the Double Chocolate Raspberry Dome (unusual and absolutely wonderful!) Another companion tried the No Sugar Added Ricotta Cheese Cake (I grabbed a bite -- yummy!!)
Other dining options include:
Admiral’s Steak & Seafood – This is the Line’s signature specialty restaurant. It offers a five-course gourmet meal where guests can choose from fresh seafood or a succulent steak with exceptional cuts like Black Angus and Certified Angus beef.
The Rock Grill –A new interactive experience for dinner outside, located on deck 10 aft with ocean views — guests will cook meats tableside on a lava rock grill and can also order The Bull specialty burgers (a favorite concept already on Grand Celebration which combines premium meats with chef-created unique burger pairings), along with drinks and full bar service.
A Slice Above – Mama mia! A new concept for lunch and dinner on deck 9, serving Italian fare, including flat breads, calzones and build-your-own gourmet pizzas.
The Grand Café – This specialty coffee and gelato bar offers a variety of hot or iced specialty coffees, teas and other beverages, including smoothies and freshly squeezed juices. In the morning, guests can indulge in chocolate croissants, Viennese pastries, muffins and quiche. Throughout the day, the Grand Café will offer delectable sweet treats, including delicious homemade gelato, sorbet, cakes, tarts, cupcakes and chocolate truffles.
The Crow’s Nest Sports Bar & Grill – A new concept for both ships, this outlet sits high atop deck 14 on Grand Classica and id yhe perfect place for sports viewings shown on numerous large LCD screens and served a selection of beer, cocktails and classic pub fare. Guests can also enjoy classic pub games such as pool, darts, skee-ball and vintage arcade games.
The Ocean View Buffet – A complimentary buffet located on Deck 10, serving breakfast, lunch, dinner and late-night snacks.
Room Service – Complimentary room service will be offered; guests can also order The Bull specialty burgers from room service, a la carte.
ENTERTAINMENT
Entertainment abounds on Grand Classica with venues around the ship featuring live music, Vegas-style shows, action-packed casino and comedy.
The Legends Grand Theater – A two-level theater located on decks 8 and 9, where live Vegas-style shows and performances featuring the Grand Classica singers and dancers will be held, along with comedy shows. There is also a bar and lounge area outside the theater for those who want to enjoy a cocktail before or after the show.
Par-A-Dice Casino – This large and spacious casino on deck 9 will offer a wide range of slot machines and table games for those seeking lady luck at sea. 101 of the most popular slot games, in addition to 10 table games, including Roulette, Blackjack, Craps, Three Card Poker and Ultimate Texas Hold ‘Em Poker are featured.
Encore Lounge – Located on deck 8, the spacious Encore Lounge is a great venue onboard to have a cocktail, enjoy live music and relax between events and activities. A central stairway serves as a focal point and leads to deck 9 where dining options, including A Slice Above and The Grand Café, are located.
THE SPA:
Ready to get pampered?
The Indulgence Spa, Fitness Center and Salon is the place to be when it’s time to get pampered -- there’s no better place to indulge. The spa offers massages, facials, skin treatments and more. The oceanview fitness center includes a wide range of equipment and free weights for those who want to stay fit at sea.
There’s also an awesome gym!

WHY ARE CRUISES YOUR BEST VACATION DEAL:
There are several reasons why a Cruise might just the best vacation ever!
1: VALUE – Cruises offer great value for your vacation dollar because the fares include nearly everything you'll need for a fantastic trip: food, accommodations, daytime and evening entertainment and transportation between destinations. We regularly see fares on mainstream cruise lines for under $100 per person, per night, which is astonishingly cheaper than you'd spend on land for a hotel, dinner and a show. On some lines, kids even sail free or at discounted rates when sharing a cabin with two adults. Looking for luxury? Upscale lines are even more inclusive, with alcohol and soft drinks, gratuities, shore tours, onboard spending credits, and even flights bundled into the fare.
2) FAMILY FRIENDLY – From tots to teens, grandparents to grandkids, cruises are fun for all ages. If you're struggling to find a vacation that your 5-, 10- and 15-year-old will all love -- and that has adult activities, too -- ships now have extensive kids' facilities, split by age. Teens have their own cool hangouts, far away from the play areas for the little ones (and certainly a nice distance from parent-friendly pools and bars). How can you not love a trip that features video games and swimming pools, while offering time for families to be together at dinner or on shoreside excursions? And parents can even sneak in a romantic dinner alone, by taking advantage of late-night hours in the kids' club.
3) ROMANTIC – Anyone who's watched "The Love Boat" knows that there's a romance to sea travel. The wind in your hair, the vistas of endless ocean, the stars twinkling above all set the mood for love may be clichés but they’re real experiences onboard! If you want to rekindle the spark with your sweetie, a cruise vacation provides plenty of together time -- sharing side-by-side lounge chairs by the pool, a table for two at dinner, dancing in the evening or sharing quality time onshore. Cruise lines also have special packages for honeymoons, vow renewals and weddings onboard and onshore.
4) AMENITIES/ACTIVITIES – Today’s cruise ships are designed to keep everyone happy. Want to pamper yourself at the spa while your spouse hits the casino? Or lounge in the sun reading a book while your family plays basketball. You can go to an educational lecture, a wine tasting, a computer class or a dance workshop; paint pottery, play bridge, learn a language or do yoga; dine at a casual buffet, a fancy sit-down restaurant, a sushi bar, a diner or a steakhouse; and watch a movie, a comedy routine, a song-and-dance show or live music performance. And if all you want to do is nothing while the ship sails from port to port you can do that, too.
5) DESTINATION – On a cruise, you unpack once and your floating hotel takes you from city to city or from island to island and there’s no need to mess with train or ferry schedules, or lug your suitcase along cobblestone streets. Every morning, you'll wake up in a new place. Can't decide between St. Lucia and Barbados, or Italy or Spain? Why choose? Pick an itinerary that visits all the cities on your wish list.
6) STRESS FREE PLANNING – It’s such a relief when you don’t have to worry about the logistics of your vacation! A cruise is a convenient way to visit multiple destinations while avoiding all the anxiety that can come with dealing with local hotels, restaurants and transportation. There’s no more driving around in the middle of the night looking for a hotel, no maps to follow and no need to worry about finding a decent restaurant.
7) CRUISE OPTIONS – Today’s cruise experience is completely customizable to offer whatever you’re looking for as a variety of things to do exist both on board and on shore. You’re in complete control: you pick the cruise destination that offers the ports of call you want to visit. You can then choose shore excursions tailored to the activities you enjoy, and you don’t have to worry about the hassle of not speaking a language or trying to figure out foreign currency exchange rates. Norwegian Cruise Line is constantly adding ports to their itineraries providing even more choices for your cruising pleasure.

Do you believe in MAGIC??
Travel Agents had an opportunity to tour the Carnival Magic this week and get an up-close and personal look at this amazing cruise ship!
Currently homeported in Port Canaveral, MAGIC will be relocating to Miami -- our Thanksgiving 2018 Group Cruise will depart on MAGIC from Miami on November 18th!
So, let’s take a look. Personally, I am in LOVE with MAGIC -- she is absolutely incredible! One of the things that blew my mind right off the top was her 1A cabins. I NEVER recommend a 1A cabin to my clients -- because they are smaller, poor traffic flow and often have little glitches that just make them awkward to move around in. But Magic’s 1A’s are really cool! They’re roomy, well laid-out and will work great for the single guest ... but aren’t all that bad for two passengers (upper and lower bunk beds).
This is a 1A Porthole cabin ... It would be perfect for the single passenger traveling alone!
Another example of one of the four 1A cabins on the Carnival Magic. This will sleep two ... upper bunk not shown.
Another example of a 1A on the Magic ... you can see the upper bunk above the bed. I love the little sitting area! Passengers traveling alone do pay 200% of the fare but it’s generally less than larger cabins and the layout of these 1A’s make it a viable option!
I only focused on two categories of cabins during my visit -- the Interiors and Balconies that our Thanksgiving 2018 Group Cruise guests will be berthed in. This is one of the Interior Cabins:
One of the things I really like about this cabin is that it has great storage ... you can see on the right a cupboard that includes storage space ... here’s another view of the cupboard:
Then, you also have this cupboard:
This one has drawers. There’s also plenty of closet space.
A lot of our November cruise guests have selected Balconies ... so here’s a view from the Carnival website.
I think we’re all going to be very comfortable onboard! I visited each cabin that we have berthed for the group cruise and was not disappointed in any!
There is so much to do on Magic! Another thing I really love is that there are two buffet restaurants onboard ... so you don’t have to fight everyone on the LIDO deck! And, on the lower deck (can’t remember which deck number! sorry!!), you can take your meal outside and enjoy the sunshine!
I think this would be a great place to enjoy your morning coffee and breakfast!
The layout for the Lido Deck buffet is different than I’ve seen on most Carnival ships ... it’s not as noisy and the traffic flow is far smoother!
Okay, I confess that I plan on spending the majority of our At Sea days in the adults-only area! It features a pool, two beautiful hot tubs, lots of seating (both in the sun and in the shade), a bar and ... drum roll ... a Tandoori food bar! Indian cuisine is my all-time favorite, so I am going to be one happy momma!
Great socialization opportunities in the Adults-Only area. I envision lots of great card games here!
Of course, we all know one of the great things to do on board a cruise ship is attend the nightly song-and-dance Broadway-like shows! The theater on the Carnival is absolutely beautiful!
Like to play a few games of change? Check out the Carnival Magic Casino:
Carnival Magic is a Fun Ship 2.0 ... which means it has super specialist dining opportunities and fun options, such as Guy’s Burgers, Guy’s BBQ, the Blue Iguana, the Red Frog Pub and so much more!
How would you like to spend an evening here, watching a current movie on the outside pool-side movie screen?
Carnival Magic has a Ropes Course, Waterworks Park, Miniature Golf and more ... so there’s plenty of adventure programs to keep enthusiasts busy!
Cruising is a fantastic vacation option -- it’s pretty much all-inclusive and a great bang for your buck! It’s a great way to share time with family and friends, meet new friends, and ... you never know what kind of characters you’ll meet onboard:
As of this publication date (March 5), we only have 6 cabins remaining for our Thanksgiving 2018 cruise. If you’d like to grab an amazing GROUP RATE and join us (for just a $25/per person initial deposit!!), then contact T & D Travel Partners at [email protected] or call and leave a message for Terie at 727-235-3224.
Happy Sailing!

Walking on sunshine ... the Carnival Sunshine that is!

Walking on Sunshine! Getting ready to board the Carnival Sunshine to take a closer look at what awaits passengers! I was super impressed with this ship!
The first thing you see when you board ... a beautiful spot to grab a “Welcome Aboard beverage!
So, of course the first thing that greets you when you board is a beautiful location to enjoy a Welcome Aboard libation!
The Lido Deck is hopping with lots to do and happy cruisers ready to have a fun get-away!
Just in case you get thirsty, there are plenty of options available. The Red Frog Rum Bay is a great place to grab your favorite Caribbean beverage!
Ready to cool off? One of several pools onboard.
THIS is where folks onboard will be watching the Super Bowl during THEIR week-end cruise. It’s also a great place to hang for awesome movie nights!
Anyone afraid of heights? Views onboard are incredible!
If you want some privacy and a relaxing place to just hang out ... Sunshine has you covered!
Can you picture yourself HERE? (I sure can!!)
So ... we know it’s all about the FOOD, right? The most amazing buffet is available all day for your pleasure -- there’s little you could crave that isn’t on this buffet!
Did I hear Pizza AND Beer?
The Sweet Spot blew my mind! Just one more part of the buffet!
If you’d rather get dressed up (that is, a little more than super beach-casual!), you can enjoy lunch or dinner in the formal dining rooms. This was the menu for lunch during our visit!
Smoked Duck Breast -- I’ve never been real keen on duck but I gotta tell you: this was GOOD!
Penne with lobster was delish!
Prime Rib is always a winner!
This Malted Big Apple Cheesecake was divine!
Some passengers really like to go all-out for the Fine Dining experience -- there’s a charge for dining at these “specialty” restaurants, but the food is beyond amazing!
The MOST incredible steaks EVER!
The atmosphere here just calls my name ... Sushi anyone?
Another lunch or dinner option (no charge) is the Mongolian grill ... it stays busy but it’s oh-so-worth-it!
YUMMY!
There’s also a Guy’s Burger Joint on the Lido Deck -- grab a burger (again, NO charge!) while you’re hanging at the pool!
The toppings bar includes just about anything you could ever want on a burger!
If a burger isn’t calling your name at the pool, try the Blue Iguana Cantina for a burrito, taco or whatever suits your Mexican-style fancy!
PUSH don’t PULL -- we got a laugh at the restrooms on the Lido Deck! Just a tip on how the doors work!
Marjie really loved the automatic hand-washers!
So ... when you’re in between meals, what else can you do? Why not check out the Sports Bar?
Or stop in at the Piano Bar ...
... you can sing along or ask the Piano Man to play just about anything!
The Library Bar ... where great literature meets great wine! This intimate wine lounge features state-of-the-art self-serve dispensers. So swing by, pour yourself a bit of vino and unwind with quiet conversation, a board game, or by simply plucking a new book off the shelves for a good read.
If the library isn’t your cup of tea, you can always try your luck in the Casino (over 18′s only).
Or try some adventures at sea ... there’s something for both young & old passengers!
High Adventure awaits with Carnival Sunshine’s Water Works and Sky Course!
Not into the High Adventure stuff? How about some great shopping?
If you want some “adults only” quiet time on deck, be sure to check out the Serenity area!
For the ultimate relaxation experience onboard, you just have to visit the Spa!
Stop in and book your favorite indulgence!
Visit the Spa on the day of embarkation for some really great specials!
You can get a new “do!”
... and mani and a pedi ...
... sauna and steam room both available ...
... or relax in the Thermal Suite!
Okay, so these things are HEATED and they feel amazing! I’ll see you after my nap!
Love the rain shower in the Spa! There’s also a awesome gym that everyone can use during the cruise! Imagine working out while catching a beautiful view of the ocean!
Be sure to check out the musical shows every evening ... there’s also fun family games during the day!
If you’re a game “show” winner, you could go home with an AMAZING gold (plated as in PLASTIC!) Carnival Ship trophy! The most sought after souvenir on board!
There are auctions onboard for art lovers ...
Let’s not forget the kids! Carnival’s camps provide daily and evening activities for kids 2-17 (broken down by age). It gives parents a chance to do things as a family ... or just time for mom & dad!
At some point, you may decide you need to return to your cabin for a nap! Here are some photos of various staterooms to get an idea of what awaits! (If you’ve never cruised, let me tell you: sleeping onboard a cruise ship is an experience you’ll never forget! Even the most staunch insomnia sufferer will slide off into an incredibly peaceful sleep!
Photos capture the moments that take your breath away ... when you reach home port, you’ll want lots of photos to remember a vacation of a lifetime! Be sure to stop by the photo shop to view all the photos taken during your cruise (you can have formals taken as well as lots of photos onboard ship).
Because, when all is said and done -- the experiences with family & friends are the moments of a lifetime!
(CIndy, Marjie, Lisa and me with an unidentified passenger!)
Join us as we celebrate the New Year (2019) at sea! Cabins are EXTREMELY limited; deposit of $150/pp due March 12th!!! For more information, contact us at [email protected] or visit our website: tdtravelpartners.com

Before you sail, hit the dollar store!
Let’s face it, there isn’t a lot of space to spare in your cruise ship cabin and packing can be a real challenge. We’ve put together a list of items you can grab from your dollar store that will make your cruise go a little easier and make you feel super organized!
1. PILL BOX -- no need to pack that large ziplock bag to hold your medications and vitamins! Just grab a Weekly Pill Box. You’ll know what to take each day and you’ll save lots of space and headaches!
2. ZIP LOCK BAGS -- I can’t even imagine traveling anywhere without a good variety of zip lock bags! Use them to store items that might leak (shampoo, mouth wash, body lotion, etc.). Stuff a few in your beach bag to keep your electronics dry and a few more to store your wet items until you get back on ship. I used to use gallon bags to pack entire outfits for the kids: undies, socks, shorts & shirts. Grab a bag and off you go! (Works for adults too!)
3. PONCHO: One rainstorm can really ruin a day in port! Pack a dollar store poncho in your bag when you leave the ship and be prepared for the unexpected!
4. TRAVEL-SIZED BOTTLES: You already know that you’re limited to 3-oz containers when you board an airplane ... so travel-approved bottles are probably on your travel list already! They can easily handle your face wash, lotion, shampoo, hair condition and mouth wash.
5. NIGHT LIGHT: Normally, we prefer interior cabins when sailing (the exception being if we’re cruising somewhere like Europe or Alaska where we’d want to see the scenery while at sea). And what we really love about interior cabins is they are super dark -- it’s like sleeping in a cool, soft, pitch-black cloud! But it makes it a little tricky if you have to get up in the middle of the night, or if you’re traveling with children! A night light from the dollar store will ensure that you don’t run into a wall or smack into the bathroom door!
6. MAGNETS: Most cruise ship stateroom walls are metal, so pick up a package of magnets to take along with you on your voyage. You can hang up the daily ship newsletter, notes on where you are, and other useful things.
7. NET LAUNDRY BAGS: Keep your soiled laundry in one neat place by picking up a mesh laundry bag at the dollar store. They’re available in pop-up styles, too, which make them easy to tuck in a corner of your cabin. The mesh will allow clothes to breathe and not become damp and full of mildew, and the bag will keep everything contained.
8. OVER-THE-COUNTER MEDICATIONS: It’s always a good idea to be prepared for whatever might come up: Benadryl for allergies, ibuprofen for pain, Dramamine for seasickness, basically, any medicines that you think you might need on your cruise for different small ailments can probably be found at your local dollar store.
9. RAFTS: Any place you go is going to charge you for a raft or water noodle. Although taking a noodle onboard might be a struggle, a raft is nicely folded and can be left if you don’t feel like dealing with it.
10. CUP, WATER BOTTLE or THERMOS MUG: Buy a cheap cup, thermos mug or water bottle that you can fill up with water or juice, etc. on the ship and for keeping your coffee hot as your stroll around the deck. Usually the glasses a cruise line will provide are pretty small and don’t have lids, so if you’re a very thirsty person (like me!), it’s nice to have something larger to carry around with you.
11. SUCTION HOOKS: Staying organized in small spaces will make your cruise go smoothly. Again, since the walls of your cabin are metal, suction cup hooks will attach (and stay attached!) easily. You can suction your loofah to the shower wall, or stick a few on the closet doors for a jacket or sweater hook. There are lots of possibilities, and they’re small so they won’t take up much room in your precious luggage space.
12. STRAWS: No, these aren’t for your drinks (they’ll come with a straw!). Straws make a really great way to pack dainty necklaces -- so they don’t get tangled. Just string them through a straw to keep them in a neat loop. No tangling today, jewelry!
13. OVER THE DOOR SHOE RACK: These are great in the bathroom to hold your personal items ... or use them to pack undies to save much-needed drawer space or shoes so you’re not falling over them! To make sure you don’t damage any doors, place a towel over the door before attaching your rack ... or use pipe cleaners or twist tags to attach it to a clothes hanger and store it in the closet.
14. ELECTRIC POWER STRIP: First, make sure the ship allows them and, if they do, be sure to ALWAYS UNPLUG IT when you’re not in the cabin! Also be sure it has an automatic reset switch. Power strips are great for all the equipment you tend to lug around: your phone, camera, notebook, etc. Also a plus: a power strip with USB port (I use to recharge my FitBIt!).
15. BATTERIES (AA/AAA): This is so obvious, but so easy to overlook. Not everything is rechargeable. I also suggest bringing a spare camera battery, too.
16. EXTRA SD CARDS: If you’re taking lots of photographs, you’ll want to back them up every night so you don’t lose them. An Extra SD card means not having to delete precious photos when you run out of room. And finding a brand name SD Card in many ports is next to impossible!
17. COLLAPSIBLE CLOSET ORGANIZER: These take up very little packing space and give you extra storage for clothing. Just hang in the closet!
18. DRY ERASE BOARD: Great for leaving messages for other members of your group!
19. CLOTHESPINS: Hang up wet bathing suits. There’s a retractable clothes line in your shower but it only has two (if you’re lucky) clothespins!
20. LANYARDS: You’ll be issued a Sailing ID card that you’ll need to keep with you at all times. Inexpensive lanyards are a great way to make sure you don’t set it down and forget it somewhere!
I started packing all of these items in one small suitcase and leaving them between cruises so I don’t have to scramble when it’s time to get ready for our next cruise. I’m sure you’ll think of a few things that I didn’t mention (I just thought of a deck of playing cards!) -- keep these items handy for your next get-away at-sea and you’ll have a far less stressful, more organized vacation!

Do you know the story of the Dash?
The dash is the space between the day you’re born and the day you die. None of us know how long that space will be. But each of us has a choice on how we’ll fill that time!
Life is an adventure ... or at least, it should be! You can spend your life going through the motions, waiting for the perfect partner, the perfect job, the perfect house, the perfect vacation. OR you can spend your life creating memories that will take your breath away!
I believe your Bucket List is a living, breathing thing that needs constant attention and refreshing! It might include something as simple as a walk on your local beach, a picnic in the neighborhood park or watching the sunset from your front porch. It could be a swim off an exotic island or ziplining through the mountains overlooking a beautiful waterfall!
You only take this trip called life once -- make sure it’s a trip that you’ll treasure every day of your dash.
