‏‎MUSCLE MAGIC #5: THE CORE IS CORE- The Core muscles stabilize the central trunk of your body and include the abdominal wall, back, pelvic floor, and diaphragm muscles.The Core muscles help you maintain proper form when doing a plank or push-up. As you contract your Core muscles during these exercises, you need to learn to breathe short breaths rather than hold your breath. The other exercises for the Core are variations of the Sit-Up. Keep your back straight and put an 8 inch soft beach ball or fit ball behind the lower back. As you touch the ball with the lower back contract your Abs and sit up without curling your shoulders. Abs need a lot of work. Start with 10 to 15 repetitions and build up to 20 to 30. If you elevate your legs, the lower Abs will be strengthened. So do both types of Sit-Ups. Hip-raises also called a bridge are another Core exercise that also builds the Glutes. Lie flat on your back with knees bent and feet flat on the floor. Now raise your hips off the floor keeping your abs tight until the hips, knees, and shoulders are in line. Tighten your Glutes at the end of the movement and do 15 to 20 repetitions. The Core muscles also support arm exercises like the Bench Press and Biceps Curl so that the arms and shoulders are supported. This helps prevent injuries with heavier weights. Your Core is Core for a well-rounded workout but like the Base, it is often ignored. To get a Six-Pack or bulging Abs, you need to eat right to lose superficial fat and build the ab muscles. That means getting the right amount of protein from food and Protein-Rich Shakes every day and at every meal. Have a Protein-Rich Shake with at least 20 grams of protein within 30 minutes to 1 hour after your exercise session.
