I’ve had this set of notes sitting in my drabbles forever. I’ve had this itch to write a long-ish SharkyxDep fic that flashes between the events of 5 and the events of New Dawn and how they end up back together. It’s wild to me that it’s still nagging at me, like 4+ years after the game released and at least 2 years since I last played it. Any thoughts on if I should go for it?

Sometimes she thought the isolation had gotten to him more than her. She still knew who she was, even if her actions didn’t reflect it. She didn’t preach to the shadows, babble apologies to long dead siblings. One second. One second was all it took for her world to be torn apart. A stray bullet from [enemy?] Tore through her shoulder, and she went down. Blood was pouring out fast, but the Security Chief cleaned up the enemies faster. Rushed over and pulled off her mask, despite her attempts to keep it on. Trying to stop the bleeding, calling for Sharky to come help. Sharky. Charlemagne Boshaw, her rock. One second for Sharky to lock eyes with her and know. Sharky didn’t know what love was, not really. He loved Hurk, yeah, but that was familial. What he was feeling for Rook, that wasn’t familial. For a long time, she believed that the bomb was all part of a Bliss-induced hallucination. She had replayed the memory hundreds of times, and she knew that physics [is this the right word?] didn’t work like that. But as time went on, and Joseph’s sanity slipped further and further away, she realized that there had to be some truth to what he was saying. Maybe that specific explosion hadn’t been real, but the world really had ended.
