"No worries, I'll take you there!" The idea of being able to spar Dan Heng is exciting in itself - and so Yanqing leads the Nameless member to his usual training spot. The chitter-chatter that Yanqing mainly leads as they walk together is enough to distract him from the occasional glance they get from a Vidyadhara who looks at Dan Heng the wrong way.

Bitter undercurrents still exist within the Luofu, and Yanqing does wish that he could change things - but he does not have that much power.

They come to a training area that is currently unoccupied - but is surrounded by trees. There's a few training dummies who have been very, very much beaten up to the side, and the sand on the ground still shows imprints of feet from where he had been standing earlier.

This is the place where Yanqing goes regularly to train - a place that Jing Yuan had shown him before, and the place where he and Blade crossed their swords not too long ago, when he had been trying to recover.

Does Dan Heng too, wonder what happened?

That is not what they are here to do, though - Yanqing excitedly moves forwards, throwing open his arms to gesture to the area.

"This is the training area I use when I want to be alone - it's the General's, technically, but he lets me use it a lot since he doesn't really need to train. I think it's pretty cool, if not a little old-fashioned," he explains, the excess energy leaving him restless.

Upon hearing the query, Yanqing pauses to think for a moment. It's true - his wardrobe consists of the same thing, basically. On his days off, he simply wears a simple shirt and pants - but his wardobe is very bare. Training and official duties take up most of his time - so the idea of going to get more clothes just simply doesn't cross his mind.

"Ah... well, I have one outfit that I use on my days off. And I usually attend other official matters in the outfit I use when I'm on duty, as a symbol of my status. However... It's kind of true, I don't really have a plethora of outfits." he admits. "I don't really think about dressing differently, either - I'm usually really preoccupied with work."

The sentence is adorned with an awkward laugh. Now that he thinks about that, isn't that a little... lame? Ah, but the first priority of a swordsman is the sword, not his outfit.

"But I appreciate the fact that you wouldn't rat me out if I had an extra lazy outfit," he chuckles. "Thank you, March."

Yanqing didn't know what he was expecting - but it certainly hadn't been this. An entire tavern dedicated to cats was a surefire way to drag people in and to get new business - and unfortunately, the lieutenant wasn't immune to the allure of cute kitties. They're his favourite animal, so he couldn't help but maybe just take a peek inside to be able to pet them...?

However, as he went in, and looked around, he found that the path forwards (to more cute cats) was blocked by a peculiar young woman, who was cooing at a cat who was under the table. Understandable, due to its adorable little face and fluffy coat, it was a very adorable creature and was very deserving of love.

He finds himself crouching down to get a better look at the cat she's trying to get, before he kind of awkwardly crouch-steps towards her with a wave and a smile.

"A very cute cat!" He says, starting up conversation. "I like calicos - they're adorable. Even though this one doesn't really seem to want to say hi..."

Yanqing laughs, despite the gruesome situation that they're in. Despite the dead body in the room, the taunting of an unsolvable case over his head, the idea that his skills would not be enough to solve the case - he manages to let out a giggle upon hearing Gallagher's words. Scare him off to a desk job?

If there's one thing about Yanqing, it's that once he sets his mind to something, despite the bitter taste of defeat, he won't give up what he loves doing. In this case, it's detective work. Even if he manages to never figure out who the murderer is, even if he fails - his passion for this may fall, but it will never be extinguished. Giving up isn't in his vocabulary.

"It won't," he promises, with a confident smile. "Even if I don't manage to figure out - or help figure out - who the killer is, I won't be scared off to a desk job. I love what I do, and one failure isn't enough to deter me."

After being the victim of failing to finish up another case that he'd gotten before transferred to this one, it had hit him hard - he had been a prodigy with a clean record of being able to figure many things out. Being set on a failure was enough to bring his spirits down, but it wasn't enough to take him out entirely - so here he is, dealing with a cold case. He doesn't mind the challenge.

He won't fail, after all.

"I suppose there's nothing specific that goes into making the gel - and even then, if there was, it would be hard to track down who was getting the materials because they would intentionally make sure their tracks were covered up. I'm sure security cams were checked over and over to see where she'd been... but maybe it wouldn't hurt to check them one more time?" The assistant detective wonders aloud, his eyes flickering around before settling down on Gallagher's face, looking for a confirmation - approval.

Yanqing is far from a swordsmaster, but he is a swordsman - and to someone who wields the blade with proficiency, the blade is simply a part of the self. Long has it been since Yanzhuo first made its way into his hands - how many years, he does not know, his memory a foggy thing when right now, there is an opponent in front of him - and he holds it with all the certainty in the world.

It has been broken, before, but it was reforged, and with it he, too, was reborn. Still, even so, his oldest friend fits nicely in his palm as he takes a stance he has taken a hundred, thousand times before. There is a calm before the storm kind of feeling, here, as Acheron allows him to have the first move - just a moment of silence where they both stand, in their respective stances.

Yanqing has never seen this kind of swordsmanship, but he is more than happy to witness new things, see more, learn more.

There is no moment of contemplation before he swings his sword, after that moment of silence. He crosses the distance swiftly (she sees it all happen, most likely, she is quick, too) and swings upwards with his sword with the precision of someone who has done this before.

Yanqing brightens at once, Childe's easygoing demeanour being something greatly appreciated. Hands unclasping from behind his back in where they had been, they come to rest by his side (he does this when he is nervous, it is a tell but he just cannot get rid of it - old habits die hard). "I would absolutely love to show you some of my moves," he says, excitement gleaming in his eyes. The passion of youth is something clearly woven into his very being - a love for the sword is a constant that has been in his life ever since he was young.

He had ben drawn to the art of the blade ever since he could walk - or so the General says to him, with a chuckle and a ruffle of his very carefully-put hair. His pride is not what it used to be - there is no doubt, that in the past, he would have risen to the compliment with a promise to put whoever in front of him down a peg (in friendly terms, of course). But this is not home, not the Luofu, not the soldiers or the people he spars with regularly. This is not a place where he can underestimate his opponents (although he knows he is strong, the cracked pieces of the porcelain outline of his self-esteem rattle uncertainly).

A guide is always something he's happy to have - wandering around by himself hadn't gotten him very far in the past few days that he had been in Liyue. So, with a big, gleaming smile and slightly crooked teeth, he accepts.

"Thank you so much for offering," he says. "I would really appreciate a guide of any sorts - it's very easy to get lost, here..."

Yanqing takes his duties as Cloud Knight Lieutenant very seriously - but he also takes his position as General Jing Yuan's retainer also very seriously. He's used to walking in on Jing Yuan who looks like he's about to doze off, so sometimes, during work hours, he'll offer to help with paperwork (even though he really hates paperwork).

Yanqing sneezes like a cat. Also, his pupils expand when he's excited or in darkness, so he can see well in the dark as well. Why? Because I can. He will also stare up at his sparring partners if he's knocked down like a sad, wet cat.

Yanqing fiddles with his fingers or plays around with his sword when he's excessively bored. However, when he's stuck in meetings, he's forced to merely tap his foot against the ground as a means of getting out excess energy. He was not made for politics, he just wants to go out there and stab a few things.

There's a traditional Chinese dessert/breakfast food that is called Jiu Niang - which is basically fermented rice, and I personally love to put little sesame balls into them to eat alongside it. It was one of my childhood's favourite dishes, and therefore, I think Yanqing would also have that as his favourite kind of dessert. It's quite delicious, really - if you ever have the chance, y'all should try some. :)

"No, really, don't worry about it," the lieutenant is quick to jump in and assure Misha. "I think about it too, when I come to visit sometimes - how there are so many other places other than the Luofu, and how there are so many opponents out there, amongst the stars! There are so many people I'll get to test my swordsmanship against, and all sorts of places to push myself to the limit," Yanqing says, obviously very passionate about this subject. "It's always something interesting to think about, and wonder about."

However, Misha's offering had the lieutenant pausing to think about. "I actually haven't ever been to the other car," Yanqing wonders aloud, interest thoroughly piqued. "I've just been in the main car to stargaze and talk to Caelus a couple of times, but I've never really explored..." he mutters, gazing around. "I would love to grab something to drink - I've actually spent a good earlier part of this day training. Gotta keep up, you know?"

Taking out Antimatter Legion packs isn't something Yanqing is necessarily used to, honestly. He's used to taking mara-struck by the handful, wiping them out one by one. A Qi sword to the head of the first, a proper strike to the second through the chest, and then a turn of the body with swiftness to slice through the head of the third.

He skids out of the way of a blade that would have removed his own from his neck, but it catches against his face, drawing blood red as rubies, trailing down his face as he draws back. Keeping up an eternal assault without any mind for defence is an easy way to get yourself killed. When he had first come to Fontaine, he had honestly hoped for a vacation - but after seeing enemies from the cosmos come in, Yanqing's sense of duty had kicked in.

First and foremost, he is a lieutenant, and it is his job to keep peace wherever he goes - even to a foreign planet, where his title of Cloud Knight holds little ground. Who is he to sit around and relax while others spend their time protecting and saving others? There is no way that Yanqing can go against his own morals, so he had picked up his sword, and had ventured outside the walls of the city to go Antimatter Legion hunting.

Dancing around hits and jumping from one flying sword to the next keeps him in his own element, swords of frost and Qi attacking his enemies swiftly. With a few blows, one after the other, they come tumbling down, like snow in spring. Yanqing grins to himself, bringing a hand to wipe the sweat (and blood) off of his face. It leaves streaks of red against his hand. He'll have to wash it off later.

However, in the distance, the sounds of battle do not cease - and Yanqing wastes no time hopping aboard his sword to go and find the source of the battle. When he does arrive at the scene, though, the man seems to be handling himself just fine - however, Yanqing jumps in all the same, even if to just lend a hand at cleaning up.
