On death’s door, delirious with pain, but still flirting, because of course he is.
Lucas: Aren’t healers supposed to stroke your hair and whisper nice things?
Dorothy: *strokes hair*
Lucas: Now for the whispering part…
Dorothy: *whispers* You just shut up and sleep
Lucas: You'll work on it

So Why Aren’t You Watching Emerald City?
A Detailed Presentation:
Tumblr media
Promo Picture Time THIS is Emerald City. Look at that beautiful cast. Look at those beautiful costumes. Look at all those badass women.
Tumblr media
This is Dorothy. She’s a badass Latina heroine who looks fabulous in stolen red dresses and magical gauntlets (in lieu of the iconic slippers). She’s a nurse and she keeps saving people’s lives and having just the best bedside manner. Seriously, everyone loves her.
Tumblr media
This is Lucas. Well, at least that’s what Dorothy calls him when she comes across him, tarred and feathered and crucified with no memory. So we’ll go with it. Lucas has no problem with this name. When asked why she chose it, she said it was the town where she grew up.
“So, Lucas is home?” “Yeah.”
*cue the shipping*
Tumblr media
I was not kidding.
Tumblr media
Here we have our Cardinal Witches: East, Glinda (North), and West. If you’ve seen The Wizard of Oz you can guess what happens to East.  Glinda: shady af. Runs a nunnery. May not by so nun-y herself. Superiority complex through the roof. Keeps lots of secrets. West: fabulous af. Runs a brothel. Extremely maternal. Likes drugs and hates magic. A little lost and depressed at the moment.
Tumblr media
This is Tip.
Tumblr media
This is also Tip. Seriously, if for no other reason, watch for Tip’s gender identity storyline. A orphan who was being held prisoner by a witch and forced to drink a potion everyday that made them present as a boy, Tip is out in the world navigating Oz’s options for girls. Namely: nun or whore, as she discusses with Glinda and West in one particularly memorable conversation. Tip’s journey is seriously the most emotionally resonant of the show and soo well done.
Tumblr media
Meet our Tin Man, Jack. Involved in an accident, he’s now predominantly steampunk metal (like the rest of Oz). He’s navigating a new kingdom when he comes under the employ of Lady Ev. He’s also grappling with what percentage of him can be metal before he ceases to be himself (and have a *heart*).
Tumblr media
Lady Ev. Fabulous masks. Fabulous dresses. A cool and distant personality. She’s the king’s daughter, and used to getting her way. It’s a shock to Jack when he starts to serve her, but the two come to an understanding, while also resisting the Wizard of Oz.
Tumblr media
This guy. Frank Morgan. The Wizard of Oz. The biggest meninist you will ever find. Oppressed an entire gender into the nun/whore dichotomy. Banned magic. Wears a terrible toupee. Just the worst.
Tumblr media
Did I mention Toto the police K9 german shepherd???? Love this guy. 11/10 well behaved, would recommend.
Tumblr media
Let’s talk about locations for a second. Holy crap. They’re beautiful.
Tumblr media
They use iconic European landmarks pretty blatantly and I must say I love it.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
I think the Alcazar in Sevilla is my favorite one.
To sum up: Holy Crap Emerald City is visually stunning, politically relevant, has a beautiful and diverse cast, and is wonderfully entertaining. Please check it out, it’s sooooooo good.

EC finale
My subconscious gave me a nice confusing night of Emerald City dreams after I watched that cliffhanger of a finale. Thanks for trying brain, but I’m still going to need that second season.

Audio
So I'm going to need some enterprising Emerald City fan to make a Knightgale fan-vid of this song: See her come down, through the clouds I feel like a fool I ain't got nothing left to give Nothing to lose So come on Love, draw your swords Shoot me to the ground You are mine, I am yours Lets not fuck around Cause you are, the only one Cause you are, the only one

I saw a review of Emerald City
that was complaining about how Lucas/Roan didn’t seem to have any motivating purpose outside of his relationship to the women in the show.
Dude. Welcome to being a woman in film for the past hundred years.

'I searched everywhere for you, Roan'
Well yeah, but, he was on a mission to Nimbo when he was attacked on the road to Nimbo, and left for dead on a Nimbo signpost just outside of Nimbo, so, like, how hard did you actually look, Glinda?
