Yon picked up the phone and turned it off.

"There, now she can rest undisturbed. Do you need me to move her to a bed or anything?"

“Yeah, that’s a safe way of thinking, but my friend isn’t a pushover.  Especially when they’re commanding birds to go for the mercs eyes.”

“Wouldn’t they be wearing goggles or some sort of mask?” Riley asked.

“And do they have self cleaning lenses?”

“Why do I feel like you do?”

“Did,” he put emphasis on the word.  “Well, you’ve got a safe space here at least.”

"Anywhere that has signal available. If you don't have a department that can set anything up something like this for you, there's plenty of firms that you can hire to do so."

Kalis decided to steer the conversation about the original subject. "So shall I have this vase packed up for you or would you like to browse some more?"

"I see."

He didn't, and it was likely obvious by the tone.

But he understood that there were more important things to focus on.

"And this is... accessible from anywhere? That is how websites work, yes?"

At least he was assuming it was a website. Regardless, it would be even better if he could get his father to pick it out himself; the spirits knew Azulon would automatically criticize any choice he made.

And I don't think being around a bunch of kids is the safest option right now. These folk were shooting first and asking no questions." Yon knew that Meg would never want to put anyone else in danger, especially someone younger than her. "I'll discuss it with Java once she's conscious. We'll think of something."

“Good to know,” Riley smiled gently.

“Well, a friend runs a halfway house for teenagers,” Tyson remarked.  “And by that I mean he watches over an abandoned apartment building where runaways hide out until they figure out what to do next; he makes sure they’re safe and aren’t taken advantage of by the criminal element.  You ever read the original ending of Cinderella?”

note: the categories are for organization and suggestion only. For instance, 37- the bottom of the ocean- could be written as fantasy rather than ‘futuristic,’ and nothing under the ‘romantic’ category necessarily has to lead to romantic interaction between muses. It’s all up to the writers!

"I hired a developer to make the application. I'm not a programmer, so I don't know the details. I just told them what I wanted on there and what I wanted it to do, and they did it. It went through a couple of trial versions until we settled on this one."

Kalis had no problem adapting to using new technology. While he didn't understand the meat of it, as long as he could use it, it would embrace it.

"I learned that functionality over form is best for these kind of things, especially when it's an app that's just going to be used within the company."

Ozai nodded slowly, eyebrows furrowing.

He understood the general concept, and if he had more experience, it would likely be convenient.

"How do you get the information on here?" he asked, uncertain if the question even made sense.

He wasn't sure if the company ever got a website; he remembers it was discussed, but as logical as it may be, father most likely shut the idea down.

Hmph.

Yon simply nodded in understanding. "Don't worry; our lips are sealed. Well, mine mostly. She probably doesn't realize this conversation is happening."

They shifted some. "Do either of you know any good, cheap places to stay? She's not going to want to go back to her apartment until we figure out who those guys were and what they were doing there, though I think shooting at us is a good indication of what they wanted."

“Oh that’s good,” Riley laughed.  “Because I’d hate to be in trouble with the law.  Had enough of that when a quasi-demonic entity of malefic evil possessed my body and had me kill a high school bully.”

“And maybe…just need to get that stuff cleared up with said malefic evil then I can practice medicine publicly again.”

It wasn't the first time that Kalis dealt with a customer who didn't quite grasp current technology, but he was used to them being a little older. No matter, he could be accommodating for the sake of a sale or possible future deals. He stepped a bit closer, attempting to not invade Ozai's personal space, but close enough to operate the device if he needed him to.

"Just take your finger and drag it down the screen. It'll scroll down and you can see what we have. I can also get you a paper copy to take back with you if you want to discuss purchases with your family."

He couldn't help but wonder that if when Fumetsu had his own body and took over the more unsavory part of the business, if he would be as good with people as he was. Fumetsu chose to ignore that question and quietly observe the situation.

"Of course. I am well acquainted with how important reputation is."

That was why Iroh handled PR for their company. As much as he despised the man, Ozai had to begrudgingly admit he was much better suited for it than he was. Ozai simply had no patience for pandering to idiots.

Took one to know one, he supposed.

Grinning idly at his own thoughts, he snapped back into attention at the offered object. For a moment, he simply stared at it, before he finally unfolded his hands and took hold of it. It was a clumsy thing; awkwardly supporting it with both hands on its underside.

Truthfully, Ozai personally had nothing against technology. To him, it seemed to be the way of the future; computers offering processing capability beyond the smartest humans. But Azulon hated it; said it was too new and untrustworthy and hackable, and that the traditional way was the best was and that no one was going to 'hack' pen and paper documents securely stored in their office.

He had a basic understanding; because he had a cell phone for emergency use, but his expression was still contorted with confusion as he stared down at it.
