My dad (my actual father) is one of two men in my otherwise trans lesbian exclusive discord server (other is a gay dude my wife knows from college) and he's there just to play minecraft and league of legends on occassion.

He has a tendency to they/them my friends when talking about them to me, and I always correct him on it (the first and really only strictly enforced rule of the server is to she/her people by default and to put different pronouns in your name if you want something else) and yesterday I got frustrated with him and tried explaining that again, that he shouldn't ever be defaulting to they/them and that the server is basically all women.

He brings out the predictable defense of "I thought it was gender-neutral and I was trying to play it safe," but then he did something peculiar, he started talking about how he struggles with pronouns with his friend's child, who uses they/them, and while talking about this repeatedly misgendered them, calling them "her" and his friend's "daughter" and when I corrected him each time, he got defensive and went "well, 'they' doesn’t make sense for a person, it's plural" and i pointed out how, moments earlier, he was using they for women who don't go by it, to which he goes oh huh yeah I guess so, and then the conversation moved on to other things

Anyway let this be a lesson that even when transmisogynist degendering is unexamined, it is always in bad faith, and to never tolerate it, even when it's from the swathes of tme queer and trans people on this site who somehow don't have feminist politics much better than my dad's
