i also like don’t engage in discourses on this topic usually bc whatever i have to say someone has said before but it really is remarkable how people will point out the implicit racial narratives irt louis’s treatment but absolutely bend over backwards to explain why this isnt present in armand’s story or how he’s essentially aracial or even functionally white and in fact doesn’t even know what racism is because racism was invented while he was living in the sewers in rome(?????) to excuse some VERY racially charged dynamics in the show. to the point where they will pretend that he completely made up the abuse he faced from the coven and there is no way for it to have actually happened, as if a group of people who found a way to be overtly racist against louis & claudia would not be just as racist against armand as soon as they sensed any sort of weakness to exploit because, uh, idk, they saw him as white somehow idk.

I personally adore Eric Bogosian’s interviews because I, like so many of us of a certain age, had to grow up with actors discussing their queer roles where it was always how grueling and mentally draining it was to play these tragic stories out where horrific things happened to their characters and the struggles of doing the gay stuff. And now we’ve got a guy who is vibrating with excitement for any chance to talk in detail about how playing a gay role and doing gay stuff on screen is the coolest best most awesome thing to ever happen to him in his 7 decades of life. It’s just so joyfully refreshing. We didn’t use to have this kind of thing. And I’m so grateful for it now.
