Koya: 0AM the other night, I received a message from Tegoshi: “Kei-chan, can you come here?”. I asked him what’s wrong since it’s his private time. Within less than 12 minutes I arrived at the restaurant. Sitting in the corner was a really small Tegoshi, looking completely lost. I asked him what happened, after hearing his story I comforted him saying “Because it’s Tegoshi, everything will work out.” His friends staying with him then told me he was obviously down. Can I say this? Tegoshi was wearing a hat, he pulled it down so nobody could see his eyes, and suddenly I heard this *imitated sobbing sounds* The blond was crying? I asked him “Are you crying?” and he kept weeping soundlessly like that. I pulled him into my arms saying “What is it?” Tegoshi had moments like that, I helped him fix his mood and give him advices. At that time, I thought he was just a human being. Tego: I didn’t want anyone seeing my cry, I’m the terminator. Koya: Keep contacting me like that afterwards okay? When things happen we can help each other out Tego: Being a member means that, right? Koya: Being each other’s strongest comrades.

He had friends, yet he called Kei-chan there.

And yet, Kei-chan came.

And despite sitting there in the corner for God knows how long, He broke into tears only when Koyama arrived.

Today marks the day when NEWS officially became a 4-member group 5 years ago.

And to be completely honest, I never would have dreamed that I’d celebrate the date years later. I was super anxious for months to come, still fearing that NEWS�� activities would go downhill or be separated in the members’ individual work until eventually they existed as a group only on paper but not together on stage or TV.

Boy am I glad I was wrong. 

Now we have TV shows that have them interact with one another. Concerts where everyone is just having so much FUN! Magazine photos that have them all together in one place at the same time (remember those 1-1-2-2 arrangements?). KoyaShige getting solo lines and screen time. All those lovely old songs with wonderful new arrangements. All those lovely new songs that bring out their ever improving voices. And - many - releases! ♥ 2016 has been a blast!

I know that NEWS do not want to have their group’s time separated in 8, 6 and 4 member NEWS so I’m not going to go full-out “Happy Anniversary!” here. But Hoshi wo mezashite had this whole “born again” theme which, in my opinion, is even more fitting for 4-member NEWS. It was a very bumpy ride and I feared the worst for a long time but I could not wish for a more perfect group now. So, although I know how much pain it has caused, I am actually very happy this metamorphosis happened. The current NEWS is more than I could have dreamed of back then.

So thank you, NEWS, for taking the risk, for working hard, for not taking No for an answer, for growing so damn fast in such a short time and for being so effing dedicated to your fans, your jobs and your fellow members that it is truly inspiring.

Koyama-san suddenly kisses Tegoshi-san on the cheek ♥ As Tegoshi-san tries to get away, Kato-san softly holds him down. “What is wrong with this group?” laments Masuda all the while watching them with a warm smile. When the 4 of them get close, the filming site suddenly becomes a HAPPY one!

I finally found the part of Dash where they were asking about members leaving. It was in the last part of course. So anyway, they asked Kame for advice on how to deal with members leaving but he was stunned. Literally. And said he hasn’t digested it yet. Then they asked Nakamaru and he looked like he was about to cry. Finally they asked Tegoshi and he was perfectly ok about it. He said they’d lost more than a half so it’s not scary anymore.

NEWS filming for presumably the last HenLab in Saitama Prefecture. They were spotted in the streets asking people for help with something. They seemed to have split into Koyamasu and Tegoshige teams too. Later they disappeared inside the swimming pool of a local high school [seems like it’s a boys’ school]. The flyers distributed in the are invite people to participate and bring their swimwear with them.
