About 125 pastured hens, a couple of dozen pastured turkeys, and a whole flock of feral peafowl that have come to live with us. We are primarily an egg farm, and are fortunate to sell our eggs to the local farm-to-table bakery. Blogging anything fowl. We've been raising chickens for over 10 in Southern California, CA, we like big hens, funky poultry breeds and pretty colors. It's not a bad life. :)

Ducklings First Bath
It’s funny really, there’s a moment of panic then suddenly they seem to get it...I can do this. Welsh Harlequins, Rouens/Mallards, Pekins and a Khaki Campbell, we think.

CRESTED CAYUGA DUCKS Anas platyrhynchos domesticus ©Ideal Poultry
Crested Cayuga Ducks have spectacular, greenish-black plumage, which makes the adults one of the most beautiful of all poultry displays. They are one of the hardiest of all domesticated ducks and are active rustlers and foragers.
Plus, they look like they have bad toupees.
I may have a few of these coming my way - not the Crested version, but how cool are they. They really are the gorgeous iridescent green color.

“GOLDEN” POSSUM Color morph of the Brush Possum Trichosurus vulpecula ©blacksnakeproductions
The common brushtail possum (Trichosurus vulpecula, from the Greek for “furry tailed” and the Latin for “little fox”, previously in the genus Phalangista[4]) is a nocturnal, semi-arboreal marsupial of the family Phalangeridae, native to Australia, and the second-largest of the possums.
Like most possums, the common brushtail possum is nocturnal. It is mainly a folivore, but has been known to eat small mammals such as rats. In most Australian habitats, leaves of eucalyptus are a significant part of the diet, but rarely the sole item eaten. The tail is prehensile and naked on its lower underside. The four color variations are silver-grey, brown, black, and gold. The gold looks remarkably like Pikachu ;)

Not a Mille Fleur, but the size difference is remarkable. I thought that chickens grow quickly, but duck, wow! Except their wings which are TINY, they outpace chickens exponentially. Cute!

VIETNAMESE MOSSY FROGS Theloderma corticale ©[email protected]
Vietnamese mossy frogs greatly resemble a clump of moss thanks to their green color, black spots, and visible tubercules and spines. They hide in basins of water found in crevices with only their eyes protruding to keep a watchful eye on their surroundings. As a result, they’re almost impossible to spot when sitting still. These tree frogs have adhesive toe pads and can jump. Males have a pronounced breeding callus on the base of their inside finger.
The Vietnamese mossy frog grows up to 3.5 inches (7 to 8 centimeters), with males tending to be smaller and thinner than females.
As its name suggests, the Vietnamese mossy frog lives in Vietnam; specifically in northern Vietnam, a region defined by limestone cliffs and evergreen rainforests.
