Betty is really into JD but Veronica and him end up hooking up. It’s a horror au so campers are getting killed and that’s the main plot. Obviously JD did it. Kurt I think was the first killed. Heathers The Musical is giving a whole new generation I Could Fix Him disease and like. I get it I felt that way about Christian Slater's puckish rendition of JD once upon a time. Nothing quite like a toxic troubled brooding broken pretty boy to make you forget every sensible thought you've ever had, is there.

If you have anything with spooky vibes, I love romance horror as a genre, doesn’t have to be like actual monsters or slasher esque but like. Scary still. I know it’s super unlikely but if the author of that fic ever sees this, please I miss it so much, I literally was describing in detail the drama between Veronica Betty and JD while waiting to go to surgery to my bestfriend. I think about this fic all of the time. I want to even just reread it, like even if you never touch it again, I just want to reread Veronica being like shit he said I was his girlfriend this is bad. It’s SO iconic

Every TV show about teenagers nowadays wishes it was Heathers (1989), they all want to be Heathers (1989) so bad, but they fucking can’t be Heathers (1989) because they lack the genuine respect and understanding that Heathers (1989) had.

Thank you for the compliment!! Heathers is so unique that it was tricky coming up with suggestions, but here are some you might like. I’ve added links to all the trailers, too:  

Jennifer's Body (2009)

Jennifer’s Body is a horror comedy and revenge fantasy that gets way more hate than it deserves. Both the writer and director have confirmed that Heathers was a major source of inspiration for the film. The imitation is forced at times, but it’s still worth a watch. Be aware that the trailer does not do the movie justice—a sexist marketing team really misrepresented what this story’s about. 

But I'm a Cheerleader (1999)

This is a classic lesbian rom-com that satirizes gender roles and the premise of conversion therapy. The ultra-vivid, camp aesthetic reminds me of Heathers, especially the opening scene in the croquet garden. Plus it stars young Natasha Lyonne, so you know it has to be good. 

Parasite (2019)

Parasite is one of the best movies I’ve ever seen. It’s a black comedy thriller about a poor family scamming an obscenely rich one. The film provides striking social commentary in a way that’s both playful and disturbing. 

Juno (2007)

While Juno is fairly lighthearted, it still handles serious topics like unplanned pregnancy with irreverent humor. The film’s writer has declared herself “obsessed” with Heathers, and you can see this reflected in Juno’s snappy dialogue and witty, sarcastic female protagonist. 

Get Out (2017)

Get Out is a psychological thriller exploring racism, trauma, and exploitation. Though it definitely isn’t a horror comedy, the film uses humor to ease the tension in an otherwise terrifying story. 

Jawbreaker (1999) and Mean Girls (2004)

I'm not a huge fan of either of these movies, but it would be silly to leave them off the list given how clearly they were influenced by Heathers. (Michael Lehmann was actually offered the chance to direct Mean Girls, but he turned it down because he thought it’d be like directing Heathers again. The job wound up going to Mark Waters, the younger brother of Daniel Waters.)
