Competitor Analysis: Positioning EaseSpot in the Market
EaseSpot is set to transform how students find and reserve library spaces by addressing inefficiencies in existing systems. To better understand these challenges and how EaseSpot compares to current solutions, I conducted a virtual interview with Adrianne Padua, a 2nd-year student at the University of Science and Technology of Southern Philippines (USTP). Using Discord as our medium, I gained valuable insights into the current library experience and unmet needs in the market.

Adrianne’s Insights on Library Systems
During our discussion on Discord, Adrianne candidly shared his struggles with the library system during peak hours. He described the time-consuming process of finding a study spot during peak hours:
"Usahay, dugay kaayo pangita ug lugar kay wala gyud klaro nga system. Maayo unta kung naa’y real-time updates."
Adrianne also expressed excitement about the concept of EaseSpot, particularly its real-time tracking and reservation features:
"Ganahan kaayo ko sa idea nga maka-book daan. Maka-save ko ug time ug effort kaysa sige pangita."
His feedback on mobile features underscored the importance of convenience:
"Mas maayo kung naay app nga naay notifications ug filters para sa mga type of space nga imong gusto, like group area or quiet zone."
Competitor Landscape
LibCal
Tumblr media
An online booking system used by De La Salle University to manage reservations for discussion rooms, study spaces, and other facilities within the university libraries. It allows students and staff to easily book and manage their reservations through an intuitive interface.
2. KOHA Integrated Library System
Tumblr media
KOHA is a robust, open-source library management system used by some Philippine institutions. However, its focus remains on cataloging and circulation rather than space optimization. Gap: Requires significant technical expertise and lacks mobile integration for end-users.
3. Manual Reservation Systems
Tumblr media
As Adrianne shared, many libraries rely on physical logs to manage study spaces, which are inefficient and outdated. Gap: No automation, real-time updates, or user convenience.
EaseSpot’s Competitive Advantage
Adrianne’s feedback highlights the core strengths of EaseSpot:
Real-Time Space Availability Students can instantly view open desks and rooms, addressing one of the biggest pain points in library management."Maka-less gyud sa hassle kung makita dayon asa available nga space," Adrianne noted.
User-Friendly Mobile App EaseSpot’s app prioritizes accessibility, offering real-time notifications and customizable filters based on student preferences.
Simplified Reservations Adrianne appreciated the idea of booking spaces in advance, reducing stress during busy hours.
Ease of Implementation for Libraries Unlike competitors that require extensive technical resources, EasePSpot is designed to be simple to adopt, benefiting both libraries and students.
Reflection
Our virtual interview with Adrianne reinforced the need for a student-centric solution to library space management. His insights reflect the struggles many students face, from inefficient manual systems to the lack of real-time tracking. By addressing these gaps, EaseSpot stands out in a competitive market as a tool that doesn’t just manage spaces but elevates the overall library experience.
This competitor analysis affirms that EaseSpot is well-positioned to meet the needs of students and libraries alike, creating a seamless bridge between technology and productivity.
