Rae was seated at the table in the room's small kitchenette, a batch of cheesecake brownies both adding warmth and a touch of aromatherapy to the room as her eyes darted between the contents of several files strewn across the table and back to the screen of her laptop. "I guess we know Flanagan sucks at highlighting anything even *remotely* useful..." she muttered in frustration before the loud knocking at the door jolted her out of her thoughts. She froze for a moment and closed her laptop before standing, grabbing her firearm and switching off the safety with a quiet click as she made her way to the door. Upon looking through the peep hole, she let out a breath she hadn't known she was holding and quickly opened the door. "Hey..." she said with a frown, leaning so that she could peer around her friend before gesturing for her to come inside quickly. "What are you doing here?"

It's been entirely too long since she checked in with her friend, and she had to choose a day that was absolutely pouring where Rae was currently located. Ugh. It was a good thing she wasn't walking or even driving, or she might have waited another day.

Hesitating for a moment-- she hadn't heard from Rae, either... did she even want to see her?-- she wrapped on the door to the hotel room the woman was currently holed up in. When the door finally opened, she flashed a bright smile.

"Hey, girl! How's it going?"

As soon as Raelynn walked through the door, the decadently sweet scent from the dipping chocolate immediately hit her and she let out a subconscious sigh of happiness. Of all the things that existed in this universe, chocolate was definitely in the top three. That was just her opinion, of course, but she had long since accepted that not everyone can be right.

A bright grin spread across her features at Jaden's greeting, letting out a squeal as she hurried forward to meet his embrace, standing on her tip-toes to help bridge the height difference.

"As if I can be anywhere within a day's drive and not stop by," she replied with a smirk, lightly smacking his shoulder as though admonishing him for asking such a ridiculous question in the first place. "How are you?"

He'd just finished a fresh batch of coconut creams-- white, milk, and dark chocolate, of course-- when the bell on the door alerted him to a visitor. His gaze lifted, ready to greet with his usual charm, when he saw a familiar face. "Well," he grinned, setting the tray of chocolates down. "What brings you back to my corner of the world, Darlin'?" He moved around the counter to embrace her in a big hug, careful not to lift her feet off the floor in order to avoid a punch.
