Kenma POV
The man in front of the altar was menacing, he was chanting something and the red glow under his skin seemed to intensify, and with the growing light under his skin the storm grew with it. The thunder changed from its loud rumblings to the sound of beating drums, it felt as though they were being beaten from within our ears, and the lightning had begun to intensify too. The cracks that were heard along with the lightning changed so that there was also a sizzling sound as if it was striking and burning something in the air. The atmosphere seemed to tense up in apprehension and it felt like boulders had settled into the bases of our lungs as the moments passed.
Finally after what felt like years the weight around them lifted, the atmosphere lightened and it felt like something had changed. Kenma took the moment to breathe and feel some semblance of peace before he realised it was quiet, the storm had not become more quiet he was sure that the thunder still roared in his ears and the lightning still crackled around him, burning up all that came into its path. He could still hear the breathing of all his companions, then it hit him, the chanting had stopped.
His eyes traced back to the man in front of the altar and found that he was facing their group, he was terrifying, he moved with an ethereal grace towards the group his eyes gleamed red in the light and he had ivory horns that curled back and around his face giving off the illusion of a helmet. As he began to draw nearer it set the group into action as they realised that the final fight was now. They descended from their percher on the side of the bowl and began to spread across to surround the man, he only laughed as they readied themselves to fight.
“This is who is sent to deal with me, I feel as though I should be insulted.” The man chuckled out as he surveyed us. “I caused this much death and all they send me is some ragtag band of adventurers and some sort of half baked mage.” The man stated, staring directly at Kenma as he said that. “Honestly though I am relieved, killing you all will be quick and I can bring my lord back so that he may take his rightful place as the true lord of this land.” No one responded to his statements but Kenma did see you tense up when he was insulted and it made his heart flutter, Kenma shook away those thoughts he had to focus or he could end up as one of the bodies on the altar.
Suddenly there was a crack, the loudest crack of lightning yet everyone looked up to see bright red streaks of lightning shooting towards them, Daichi quickly raised his shield, it seemed to hold some sort of enchantment as it glimmered with magic once the lightning struck. Kenma, Akaashi and Tendou all cast quick shielding spells diverting the lightning back up into the sky. Kenmas quickly turned towards you realising that you lacked some sort of protection from the attack only to see lightning strike and create a crater right where you had been, he looked for you through the rising dust and saw a dark figure about five feet from where the lightning had struck. As the dust settled Kenma recognised your face and was shocked by how fast you moved.
It all began to move quickly after that with you notching a few strangely coloured arrows into your bow and letting them sail towards the horned man as Daichi unsheathed his sword and started charging the man. The arrows hit one sparking fire on contact and the other to catch fire, creating burning wounds on the man from where they had lodged themselves into his skin. Daichi reached the man and swung his sword at him, the man seemed to have recovered from the initial shock of the fire and dodged out of the way. The man was then suddenly shrouded in shadows that put out the flames and dislodged the arrows, wrapping themselves around the wounds like bandages applying pressure, the shadows also launched out towards Daichi forming into the shape of a person.
The shadowy figure sent some of its shadows out behind it and they returned with what looked to be a bone whittled into a sword. Once the shadowy figure had the sword in its grasp it immediately lunged at Daichi forcing him into combat with it instead of the horned man in the centre. From the shadows that had now pooled around the man creatures started to take shape, they were smaller and were shaped more like animals in comparison to the one Daichi was fighting. Then the shadow creatures shot out towards (insert name), Tendou and Akaashi, the creatures were obviously a way to separate them from fighting as a group. The ones that targeted Tendou and Akaashi ran at them launching themselves and trying to knock the two magic users to the ground, Akaashi summoned some vines to help maneuver himself away from the creatures and to attack them. Tendou started to shoot out spells and blasts of magic as he strummed quickly on the strings of his instrument. The creatures that shot towards you took to the sky flying to your bow and keeping you from having a clean shot at the master of the creatures.
To help you as you maneuvered away from the creatures Kenma began to cast a spell to attack the creatures but before he could cast it something struck him in the back knocking him down and dispelling the magic he had been preparing. He looked up and found the horned man towering over him, Kenma shot back in an attempt to preserve his life. As he retreated from the man he started preparing a blast of electricity to shoot towards him, as Kenma launched the spell the man let out a blast of energy that knocked away Kenmas shot of electricity and forced Kenma hurtling back. As Kenma tumbled he felt things start to cling to his clothes and weigh him down, looking he saw dark crystals growing from the ground and beginning to incase his legs within them quickly he shot a blast of energy shattering them so he could get up.
Kenma got back up and began quickly firing off shots of energy towards the horned man as he quickly began to approach, as Kenma tried to step back he found his feet were again encased within the black crystals but this time they were growing across his body faster.

2nd POV
There was a crack of lighting and then bam it was like you were suddenly surrounded by a moving flapping cloud of darkness, they swarmed you like starved mosquitoes stretching and biting at the leathers covering your arms as you tried to fight them off. You tried loading your bow and shooting at them but they were much too close to you for it to actually be effective, quickly you switched from your bow to a short sword.
You did better now as it was much easier to dispose of the dark shadowy creatures in close combat now than trying to create distance and shoot them down, you worked quickly slashing the creatures though they would reform a few seconds later. As this kept happening you noticed that when they were destroyed for a few seconds they dropped a dark crystal and reformed around that, the next time you slashed one of them you were quick to shatter the crystal. Slowly the dark hoard around you started to dissipate as you shattered the crystals one by one, Just as you finished disposing of the creatures you spotted Kenma facing off against the horned man.
Something was wrong, Kenma wasn't getting up and it seemed like something was trapping him down. Looking closer it seemed like the crystals you had destroyed in those creatures was the same material as what was beginning to incase Kenma. Searching for your other companions you saw that they had seemed to figure out the way to destroy their shadowy opponents finishing off their battles, you knew what you needed to do.
“Daichi, Akaashi, Tendou converge sky.” You shouted out to the three of them, they instantly knew what to do. They rushed from where they were and began an attack on the demonic man blasting and slashing at him as a distraction while you rushed towards Kenma.
“Kenma, are you ok?” You asked as you got over to him, you tried to pull the crystal away from him but nothing was working it just kept growing.
“I am ok for now, I just worry for when the crystal encases my face I don’t know what will happen then.” he responded in a voice you found far too calm for the situation he was in.
“Why aren’t you more stressed if this keeps spreading you could die.” You spoke quickly trying to shatter the crystals with the handle of your knife.
“I kind of figured out what the spell he used on me is, though a much more modified and darker version. It is a preservation spell intended to be used for holding flowers of weak remnants of magic, what I am worried about is if the modification will kill me or not, in the original spell things stay unharmed but with this I’m not sure.” Kenma answered back.
“That still doesn't explain why you are so calm you don't know if you will survive it or not.” You retorted.
“That's the thing, even with modified spells they still have to use the same base spelling meaning there is a base crystal, the spell is put through this crystal and it basically duplicates itself around things when the spell is performed we just have to find the crystal and destroy it to release me.” Kenma explained.
“Great, so where is this crystal because it could be anywhere and I can't exactly shoot an arrow that far and we kind of need to do it now because it doesn't seem like we have much time left.” You spoke back pointing out how the crystal was now slowly creeping up his shoulders.
“I think the crystal is at the altar, not only do they store magic well, it is a good conduit for summoning.” Kenma said. After hearing this you shot away from him and sped over to the altar to try and find the crystal Kenma explained.
None of the crystals there really were the same as the crystals that were now creeping around the back of Kenmas head, you became more urgent remembering what you saw in your vision of  dying and trying to find a way to save him. You were distracted and focused in on searching that you didn't notice the streak of shadow rushing towards you until it cut a large gash into your side, causing you to fall and clench your side in pain turning to face where it came from.
You turned, seeing the demonic man walking towards you now, your friends were nowhere to be seen and Kenma, having the crystals slowly encased his eyes as he looked over to you one last time. You try to step back to distance yourself but your feet don’t move. Looking down at your black crystals crawling up your legs. You pull out your bow in a final attempt to defend yourself before you lose all movement.
As you took aim at him you saw a crystal that seemed to be protruding from his, it was the exact same as the creatures that attacked you and looked exactly like the crystal that had now almost fully encased Kenma and was slowly encasing you. Seeing this you focused, this was it life or death you took aim and breathed. You focused like it was the first time you were hunting again, you were with your father and had just found a rabbit. You had to be quick and accurate, focus, breath, aim, draw back, breath and release.
You closed your eyes as the arrow left your hold, you heard it whistle through the air moving swiftly before you heard what sounded like shattering glass.
The arrow had hit its mark.
You heard more sounds like shattering glass and suddenly your knees were free, you fell to the ground before you opened your eyes and looked up, the horned man was gone and you could see your old friends picking themselves up off the ground and limping over. The sky had cleared of the dark storm into a light shower of rain, you looked over to Kenma and saw him passed out on the ground but free from any crystal that had previously been encasing him.
Quickly you got up and stumbled your way over to him, you had to know that he was ok you had only just come to terms with your feelings you couldn’t lose him now. Finally getting to him you collapsed down beside him and pulled his head into your lap, he was breathing however faintly it was he was breathing. Finally you let yourself feel and tears began to stream down your face as you took in the fact that you had won, it was over you all survived.
As the tears rolled down your face you felt a soft finger brush them away from your cheeks, looking down you saw Kenma smiling up at you as his hand laid across your cheek cleaning the tears away.
“I’m ok, you're ok. It's over, we won.” He whispered up to you as he smiled looking into your eyes.
“Ya not too bad for your first adventure right.” You joked as he sat up leaving your lap.
“Ya not too bad.” He agreed as he reached up to hold your cheek, he brought his head closer and leaned his forehead on yours before our lips met in a kiss that sealed off which future you would get.
You could only smile thinking about what your life would be like in a few years, you couldn't wait for that peaceful life with Kenma.

2nd POV
After your conversation with Tendou you only felt slightly better, you hoped that a good rest would clear your mind and lessen the weight that had begun to rest on your shoulders since you had time to think over your interactions with Kenma.
Your room in the inn was nice, small and made of wood with a large window facing the lake. You pushed open the windows and a breeze blew in carrying the sound of lapping waves and the call of the loons you could see out swimming on the lake. The bed was warm with thick blue cotton sheets and a quilt with fish patterns sewn onto it. As you tried to fall asleep you focused on the painting across from you on the wall over the desk, it was a painting of the lake with a little boat floating over the ways in the boat there were two little people paddling along. As you focused on all the little ideas you began to feel your eyes droop down and finally close forcing you off into the world of dreams.
The sun beamed through your open window carrying in the smell of morning dew and the soft sounds of people waking in the morning and getting ready for their days, you dreaded this you knew you had to talk to Kenma today because if what you saw in that pool is true it might be your last chance to actually talk to him about your feelings and apologise for the miscommunication.
Making your way down you saw that you were the first of the group to come down, grabbing a table and quickly ordering a filling breakfast. Once your food came the rest of the group had made their way down into the dining area, you looked up as Kenma walked in and watched as he sat across from you ordering his food and then jumping into conversation with Tendou and Akaashi. As you were looking at him you noticed that he had glanced over at you, when he caught you looking at him he sent you a small smile which caused you to whip your head down to your food. As you were focusing on which piece of food would be the next optimal bite you felt a kick to your shin, looking up you were met with Daichis cheeky grin as he wiggled his eyebrows at you. Shaking your head you ignored him and focused back on eating your breakfast.
Once everyone had finished eating you all checked out and collected what you had and made your way down to the end of the dock to rent boats to take you across the lake. The boats could each hold 3 people, so Tendou, Akaashi, and Daichi grouped up. You suspected that Kenma talked to the latter two about yesterday and they created a plan with Tendou to force you and Kenma together, although their meddling usually annoyed you this time you were grateful for it as you would get a chance to talk to Kenma alone.
Once you were all situated in your boats Kenma cast a spell that would propel the boats on their own towards the base of the mountain where you would begin the ascent to the peak of the mountain. The boat ride was silent and awkward, you hated this you needed to say something.
“Kenma, I’m really sorry about what I said. I didn’t mean for it to come out like I thought you were weak, I don't. I have seen how powerful your magic is and I know how strong you are. It’s just that it had been stressful and I’m not used to being apart from the guys for so long, and I just care about you alot and I felt in that moment you were all I had and I just wanted to make sure that nothing would take that from me.” You quickly blurted out, trying to say everything you needed in case he still didn’t want to talk about it.
“It’s ok (Insert Name), I get it you were just worried and that's understandable. I should also apologise for what I said, it was cruel of me to cut you off like that and not give you the opportunity to explain what you meant. We both messed up, but we're over that now.” He responded, before turning back to face the mountain and focusing on the trip ahead.
You should tell him, something inside you spoke. You figured that part of you was right that you needed to tell him how you felt before all of this went terribly wrong, plus if he didn’t feel the same you would probably never see him again. Just as you were about to say something you heard a loud crackling and a streak of red lightning lit up the sky effectively putting an end to your plans to confess. Quickly Kenma mumbled a spell and the boats began to pick up the ace creating a much larger wake behind them than before.
By the time the sun had reached its peak in the sky the boats had skidded up onto the shores, steadying himself Kenma stepped out of the boat and into the ankle depth water pulling up his robes so that they were out of the water. As you began to move to get out of the boat Kenma stretched his hand out towards you, taking it as you stepped out of the boat the two of you stared at each other until Akaashi let out a cough behind you. You both turned away from each other and moved towards the shore and out of the water, you ignored the fact that you only let go of each other's hand when you were too far apart to hold the other.
“We should make camp and prepare, we can’t turn back now but at least we can pause and make a plan for whatever we might expect up there.” Daichi ordered as he began giving out different jobs to everybody in the group.
✶☽✶☾✶☽✶☾✶☽✶☾✶☽✶☾✶☽✶☾✶☽✶☾✶☽✶☾✶☽✶☾✶
Kenma POV
No fire was lit that night in fear of alerting any enemies around to our position, dinner was whatever could be found and the conversation was practically nonexistent, minus the hour spent planning and creating ideas on formations and battle strategies for the next day. After that tents were pitched in the expectation for rain, and a storm. The rocks we settled behind would be good for keeping the tide away and sheltering us all from the wind so that the tents didn’t blow away.
As Kenma lay staring at the canvas canopy over him he thought of you, of how when he was apologising he should have said how he felt about you. But now it was to late he didn’t want to distract you with his feelings right before they went into battle, he couldn’t do that to you he couldn’t put more pressure on you to protect him and he really didn’t want to have to force you into making a decision that would be best made with the time to think. And so Kenma just stared and allowed the deep embrace of sleep to drag him away from the world of the conscious.
The next morning Kenma awoke to Daichi shaking him awake and handing him a quick breakfast before telling him to gather only what he needed for defensive and attack magic and to meet the rest of the group quickly. Once everyone was out and ready the trek up the mountain began, there was a little dirt path covered in stones and roots. Rain started to pour as we began ascending the slope there was a crack of thunder followed by streaks of red lightning that lit up the sky, the closer to the peak we got the more magic suffocated the air.
Finally we reached the peak. It was shaped like a bowl with large sharp rocks protruding from the flat surface of the peak, in the centre more rocks protruded, but these ones were larger, sharper and curved towards each other like a clawed hand closing into a fist. Surrounding that, there were piles of bones and pools of blood that all lead up to the curving rocks. In the centre of the rocks there was an altar, it was a large slab of black obsidian. Before the altar stood a man, he stood tall with bone white skin, he was marred with jagged scars and red ruins tattooed across him. He had on long black robes that were slung across his body and beneath the thick layers there was a red glow that seemed to emanate from within his bones.

✶☽✶☾✶☽✶☾✶☽✶☾✶☽✶☾✶☽✶☾✶☽✶☾✶☽✶☾✶☽✶☾✶
2nd POV
You wanted to talk to him, you wanted to explain what you meant that all your words came out wrong and that you wanted to tell him that you just wanted to protect him. You wanted to tell him that your mind wouldn’t be able to shut off and that even if you tried you would just be kept up by your worries for him. You hated the way you communicated it, you should have just said that you couldn’t sleep and got lost in your thoughts.
You hiked after Kenma, silent as ever, watching as he scaled the rocks and led the two of you out of the rocky terrain. Finally the path evened out and all you could see was a lake spanning all along the horizon only stopping when it reached the foot of a mountain far ahead.
“There should be a dock around here.” Kenma said, though you could tell it wasn’t meant to be directed to you, he just said it in general. As he began searching along the banks of the lake you trailed behind him kicking stones from the rocky beach back into the lake and watched them sink. It must be nice to fall through the water and land on the sandy ground to just sit in wait until the tides push you back up onto the beach. You wished you could be the rocks moved only by water and wind. You wished you could take back what you said and that you had woken Kenma up for his watch. You wished that Tendous voice in the back of your head was really there hanging off your shoulder so you could ask him for advice.
“HEEEEEYYYY, OVER HEREEEEEEEEEE!” His voice shouted in your mind, but it was strange as if he was getting closer as if he was right in front of you. Snapping your head up from its focus on the shore and the pebbles you squinted as you looked down the beach, ignoring Kenma as his head turned in your direction.
Just a little ways away there looked to be a small fishing settlement with only a few houses right by a big dock with little fishing boats tied to it, and on that dock was an overly energetic redhead jumping up and down and screaming your name. Tendou was right there just on that dock, and Daichi and Akaashi were behind him trying to calm him down. You couldn’t help it, your face broke out into a grin and you sprinted ahead leaving Kenma to trail behind you as you tried to get to your friends as fast as you could.
“(Insert Nameeeeee), we finally see each other again.” Tendou shouted out once you finally reached them on the dock Kenma a few paces behind you. Tendou shot out and grabbed you into his arms and started whining and groaning about how long you had been apart and how horrible it was to be without you.
“It's ok Tendou, we are all back together now. So let's get going, we don't have unlimited time.” You said, trying to push the group to get going. You feared that staying in one spot too long would force you to reflect on your inner turmoil and you wanted to avoid that as much as you could, to shove it so deep into the depths of your emotions that you never feel it again.
“WHATTTT, (Insert Name) you just got here. We just regrouped, we need to discuss and rest, that was very stressful. What we just went through, we need to stay here for the night. At least you do, you look like you haven't slept.” Tendou reasoned, you glanced over at Kenma before quickly looking back at Tendou after you noticed him looking at you. You couldn’t take this you needed to get away from Kenma and his looks that you couldn’t understand.
“Tendous right (Insert Name), a night of proper rest will do us some good, especially since this is one of the last ones we will get because after tonight we will be scaling the mountain.” Daichi said as he nodded towards the mountain beyond the lake, Akaashi nodded behind him and began to walk in the direction you could only assume was the local inn.
“You're right, let's go.” You agreed and followed after them towards the inn. You needed this sleep, but even more than that you needed to talk to someone about how you were feeling, preferably not Kenma because you knew that if you even tried to talk to him nothing would come out the way you wanted it to.
The inn was nice and quiet, it had a fun fishing/lake king of theme to it, it was fitting for the area. Dinner was fish, obviously it was a fishing town, though you didn’t find much of an appetite barely finishing your food while everyone else except Kenma went to get more raving about how good it all was.
Your table was probably the loudest table the owners had ever seen, judging by the looks of annoyance they were sending towards you as Tendou screeched over some dig Akaashi had sent his way. The looks of the owners only seemed to get worse, you noticed the more, could feel them burning into your skin, piercing through it to your soul and mind flipping through and judging you on every bad dissension and miscommunication you ever had. You could feel the ambiance of the inn shifting, from a once light and fun evening to a soul crushing and judging night. You needed to leave.
Excusing yourself from the table you made your way outside and down the pier to the end of the dock where you sat and admired the gaze up at the mountain. You wouldn’t mind staying here for the rest of your life settling down and becoming a fisherman, maybe you would be good at it. Your peace was suddenly disturbed when a mass of bright fabric plopped down onto the open wood beside you and started kicking their feet out over the water.
“Are you ok, you seemed kind of flushed back in there and it wasn’t particularly hot in the dining room.” Tendou asked, concern flooded his voice as he looked at you.
“I messed up.” You whispered, staring out across the lake.
“What did you do, it couldn’t have been that bad.” Tendou responded.
“No… it, it was bad. I tried to explain to him why I didn’t wake him up for his shift. I meant to tell him that I wouldn’t be able to sleep not knowing if he was safe, that my mind wouldn’t be able to shut off until we were with the rest of the group. That not being able to see him would make me so unsettled that my mind would turn itself over and around until it would force me to rise and search for him.” You told Tendou, explaining what you had meant to tell Kenma, though you had worded it much better this time. You couldn’t tell if it was because you had an easier time articulating your words to Tendou, or that you had really thought over what you meant to say and had practically scripted it in your head.
“Well if that is what you meant to say, what you did say can’t have been too terrible.” Tendou said as he urged you to divulge the words you spoke towards the wizard.
“I said that he doesn’t get out a lot, and that since his life is more academic , I felt that I had to protect him more. He then brought up my injury and argued that I had been worse for wear, and criticized me for my judgement. Though he had every right to be mad, my words were careless. I just wished that he had let me explain my words, or at least rephrase myself.” You explained, pulling your knees to your chest and curing around them as you buried yourself to hide away from your shame.
“I was such a fool, why couldn’t I just say that I lost track of time.” You mumbled as you felt your chest fill with misery.
“It will be fine (Insert Name), he will just need some time and then you can talk this misunderstanding out.” Tendou tried to reason as he wrapped your curled form into his arms.
“I know, it's…It's just so hard when I feel so greatly for him.” You sobbed out, as Tendou patted your arms trying to comfort you, though he was not sure if it was for your confession of feelings or your miscommunication.
✶☽✶☾✶☽✶☾✶☽✶☾✶☽✶☾✶☽✶☾✶☽✶☾✶☽✶☾✶☽✶☾✶
Kenma POV
Kenma watched as you excused yourself from the table and slipped out of the dining hall, and he watched as Tendou slipped out not long after you. He thought back on the last conversation the two of you had, he was quite upset at what you had said, or at least the way you had worded it. The longer he thought about it the more he seemed to understand that you had merely misarticulated your words and conveyed the wrong meaning, though he can understand where some of the worry would come from he just wishes that you could see him as someone that does not need protecting and who could protect you. As he thinks over your conversation with him, his words to you begin to spill into the darker parts of his mind reminding him of the way he dismissed you when you tried to explain yourself.
“Kenma, are you ok? You seem a little out of it.” Daichi asked, as he placed his hand on Kenmas shoulder to draw him out of his wandering through his own mind. Akaashi nodded along with Daichis question with a worried look of his own directed at Kenma.
“I may have been cruel to (Insert Name), though some of their words were quite careless they did not deserve the way I responded to their worries about me. I could not help but be slightly upset by them, I just wished that people would not look at me as something to be protected.” Kenma explained, saying it outloud he now did feel silly for the way he reacted towards your words and concerns about him. Daichi and Akaashi both sat in silence for a moment while they digested and thought over the words Kenma had told them.
“That is an understandable reason to take offence to the words of others.” Akaashi said breaking the silence between the three of them, Daichi nodded along to this before adding his own sentiment about the situation to the conversation.
“I am sure that (Insert Name) can understand why you said the things you did, but you should make sure to talk to them. To explain your side of it and listen to theirs so that you can work through whatever miscommunication might have happened between the two of you.
“Thank you both for your insight, I just hope I have not messed up too much with (Insert Name).” Kenma said before excusing himself to his room for the night.

2nd POV
Whipping around you saw Kenma still standing touching the water in the pool of the present, relief flooded your system to know that he was still standing. But if what you saw was true that meant if you continued on this path there was a chance that Kenma was going to die on this adventure.
You didn't know how to feel anymore, about the fact that Kenma might die or that if everyone survived that you would have a future together.
"Ey. HEY. (Insert Name), are you ok." Kenma shouted at you.
"Ya, why wouldn't I be?" You responded, refusing to look into his eyes.
"Well it's just that I've been calling you for the past minute and you just stared into space." Kenma replied.
“Sorry I was just trying to get my bearings, almost felt like walking on a ship for the first time.” You apologised, moving past him and towards the mouth of the cave.
“I saw where they were and if we continue north out of this pass we should be able to meet them by tomorrow.” Kenma spoke out as he followed you out of the cave.
You nodded in acknowledgement entering back out into the world, pulling out a compass, you began to wander away from the stream and towards the rocky hills beyond them. As the day went on you and Kenma scaled the rocks and passed over the grassy valleys in between them, the walk was quiet, much quieter than it usually was between you and Kenma, though you could blame that on your constant rotation of thoughts.
Finally you decided to stop, you needed this. Not only was your body absolutely ready to give out from under you, especially after that fall and all the walking you have done, but the mental strain your mind has been in. You keep glancing over at Kenma just to make sure he's still there, just to make sure what you saw didn’t happen earlier than you thought it would. But just as always he is right by your side, alive and well trekking along looking even worse for wear than you do.
Stopping, you began to build up a fire with Kenma going off to search for food assuring you that he would recognise edible plants from the poisonous ones, you made a note to yourself to check it all over when he came back. Once the fire roared to life you finally settled down and started unraveling your thoughts and emotions that had taken place over the course of this quest, why had you gotten so jealous when that woman flirted with Kenma, why did seeing your family together make your heart ache, and why did the sight of his dying body absolutely crush your soul into the ground. Just as you were coming to more concrete answers to your thoughts Kenma returned with, shockingly, all edible plants and you began to eat.
“I’ll take first watch.” You volunteered, leaving no room to argue as you climbed up a small rock ledge near your campsite for a better vantage point.
“Good night (Insert Name).” Kenma yelled across at you before lying facing the fire all tucked into his robes.
You started out into the night for what felt like hours, and most likely was hours, before you really registered the sounds of the soft breathing coming from your wizard companion. He had a soft look on his face, more relaxed than when he was awake, you could understand. If you had lived your whole life in safety to then suddenly be thrust into constant danger you would never look relaxed, hell you couldn’t ever relax and this had been your life for who knows how long. But it was nice to see that he was so comfortable, that he trusted you enough to rest. That made your heart flutter.
No, no it's just nice that someone trusts you. Plus by the end of this you probably won’t see him again.
The night passed on, it was calm with only a cool breeze to disrupt the stillness of the darkness. You let Kenma sleep, focusing on the rustling of the leaves and the changing positions of the moon. Slowly the moon moved across the sky before it disappeared behind the trees with the sun chasing its tail, when the light peeked into your camp it fell over Kenma casting a golden glow across his hair creating a golden glow around him as he began to awaken. He pushed his hair back and blinked his eyes as he adjusted to the morning light.
“You didn’t wake me up” Kenma said as he walked over to you.
“Ya, I just thought that you could use the sleep after all that we have gone through in the last few days.” You responded.
“You have gone through the same amount as me.”
“I know but this is the, you know, you don’t get out alot.”
“What does that have to do with this?”
“I, look this whole lifestyle is a lot and you're just, kind of, you know more academic than the rest of us.”
“It doesn't matter if I do this regularly or not, you went through all this with me, and you have been injured more than me. You should be taking it easy and not lecturing me on how much danger you think I can and can’t take.”
“You’re right, I-”
“No, it's fine, let's just get going.”
“Kenma please wait, we have to talk. I didn't mean it like that.”
“(Insert Name) stop, I don’t want to talk. Let's just get out of here and find the others.”
“Kenma…”

2nd POV
The cliffside crumbled beneath your horses' hooves, it felt like you were frozen in midair and then the wind was rushing by your face, the rain pelted down on you, and all you could hear was screaming. Someone was yelling at you, someone was yelling instructions, but you couldn't hear what they were saying. It was just noise to you. All you could hear was the rushing of the wind in your ears and all you could feel was the air rushing by you as if it was attempting to lift you back up. Everything felt calm and still in those moments and you felt like you would succumb to your fate at the foot of the mountain.
Something hit you, something big and heavy hit and then you hit the side of the cliff, something had latched onto you but that wasn't what you were thinking about, all of your senses came back to you as you tumbled down along the stone hill, getting scratched and poked by any small stone that only slightly protruded from the otherwise flat and slippery stone. Looking around you could see Daichi, Akaashi and Tendou falling across from you. Going to reach out for them you hit a boulder sticking out that pushed in the opposite direction as they fell out of your sight.
Your head smashed against rocks as you continued to tumble the edges of your vision going black as the word slowly started to blur and fade away.
You felt water rushing over you as you shot up to look around you, somehow you had fallen in a stream, looking down you saw small glittering fish darting around you and a rock smeared with blood. Remembering the battering your head took, you moved your hand over your only to feel a small bump under your hair that had been crusted over in your blood. Looking down you thanked the fish before you went to stand, only you could see something had grabbed onto your hand and wouldn't let you up, you looked over expecting the worst only to find Kenma with the bottom half of his body submerged in the water and the top half resting face first on the soil. You looked down into the stream and saw the fish around Kenma looked frantic like they were trying to pull him back into the water, so you helped them.
With a little maneuvering, you were able to get Kenma to let go of your hand, flipping him over you turned him so that now his back was in the stream song with his legs, the fish spread out and then danced around him, the scales of the fish reflecting the sunlight making it look as though Kenma was surrounded by a halo of light making him look ethereal. Blinking his eyes open, he squinted trying to block out the sun from his view.
"This is a little familiar isn't it." You joked, giving Kenma your hand so that he could haul himself out of the water.
"Where is everyone else?" Kenma asked, you realised that you had forgotten about the rest of the group, looking around it dawned upon you that they were nowhere in sight.
"I guess we got separated on the fall down, let's just hope they were as lucky as we were." You answered back, now feeling guilty that they were overthought in your mind.
"We can only hope," Kenma answered back, before looking down in confusion. Following his gaze you saw the little fish bumping into your feet swimming away and then turning back to you and doing it again.
"I think they want us to follow them," Kenma spoke out, looking back up at you. Nodding your head you followed behind Kenma as the fish led the way for the two of you. The fish went on for a while, swimming madly when either of you tried to step out of the water, they only stopped when the stream of water you had been in entered into the mouth of a cave. The fish looked up at the two of you to make sure you knew to follow before disappearing into the cave ahead of you.
"I believe they want us to follow them," Kenma said before he disappeared into the darkness of the cave as well. Giving one last look to your surroundings you entered the cave and were wrapped in the darkness inside.
Suddenly there was a burst of light, joining Kenma you moved to face the direction he was facing. The entire cave wall was covered in what looked like waterfalls only they weren't just falling they were going in every direction, up, down, left, right, and in each current of water the fish that had guided you were glowing lighting up the entire cave. Then a voice spoke.
"Welcome wanderers to the cave of visions." The voice greeted you, you looked around to locate the source of the voice only for your eyes to be drawn back to the wall of water. There the fish had formed the shape of a person.
"The pools show you past, present, and future. But be warned while the pools of the past and present are set in stone the future flows freely." The spirit said.
"What pools?" You whispered out, perplexed at what you were being told. The spirit simply pointed behind you, turning around the other side of the cave lit up illuminating two stone pools one larger one that took up most of the side and seemed more like a pond than a pool, a much smaller stone pool that poured into the larger one.
"The pools of past and present," Kenma whispered walking towards the two pools.
"So that is past and present but where is the future?" You wondered aloud. Looking to Kenma he pointed up, above the present pool was a stream of water that shifted and changed currents and direction every few seconds.
"To look into the pools simply dip your finger in and tell it what you want to see." The spirit spoke out to the two of you.
Nodding Kenma walked over to the present pool, and asked to see Daichi. Seeing how it worked you walked up to a platform underneath the future stream, raising your finger to the water you pushed it in expecting something to happen, something to push you out, to stop you from seeing the future. But all you felt was the little fish jumping and swimming along your finger.
You didn't think about this, what did you want to see, what did you want to know looking around you realised what you wanted to see.
"What is my future?" You asked, suddenly it felt like you had to be knocked off your feet as you tumbled through water, swimming to the surface you broke through the water only to be standing in the bright sunlit kitchen of a cottage.
And just as the sunlight danced in the kitchen so did voices from outside, following them you went out the kitchen door down a short path into a garden. The garden was surrounded by a short stone wall covered in moss, and in front of each stone wall was a surplus of plants, to the untrained eye they would have looked like overgrown weeds, but you knew better. Each of the plants was well organised and well taken care of, but the most interesting thing you noticed was the plants growing were plants used for magic.
You were pulled out of your thoughts when something ran by you brushing by your leg. Looking you saw a young child being chased by their parent, looking more closely at the parent you realise that they looked like you. That was you, this is your cottage, and those are your plants, and that is your child, and that is Kenma picking up your child and kissing them on the forehead.
And… Kenma, why was Kenma here? Sure you liked him but you didn't think that you would stay in contact with him after all this was over, but maybe you get closer. And oh those are matching rings, you and Kenma are wearing matching rings, which means this is also Kenmas life, that this is your family.
Before you could understand the feelings that this realisation caused you, the ground gave out beneath you and you went back under the water. This time when you tried to come up it was much more difficult, the water was more turbulent and forced back down more. Then you were standing on a cold mountain.
The harsh wind reminded you of the sensation you had when you were falling except you knew that you weren't, you could feel the cold stone under your feet. You observed your surroundings and suddenly a rock flew right at you, it narrowly missed you but caused you to stumble back into a tree. Hearing voices, or what sounded like screams, you moved to the other side of it only to be met with a scene that had your stomach turning in on itself.
Kenma was lying on the ground, his robes covered in dirt and soaking up whatever liquid had begun to pool around him. You were beside him, with your hands on his chest as you cried. Walking closer you realised that the pool Kenma was lying in was his blood. Future you had your hands pressed against his chest trying to stop the bleeding as blood stained your hands.
Kenmas hand reached up and grabbed your arm, he started speaking but you couldn't hear what he was saying. You tried to move closer but your foot started sinking into the rock, you tried to move faster but that only sped up the sinking. Just before you were completely engulfed by the stone you saw Kenmas hand go limp, as future you let out a blood-curdling scream.
Then you back tumbling through the water once again only this time when your feet touched down on stone you weren't in some unknown solution you were back in the cave.

Regulus POV
Regulus' world had always been the same monotonous routine. It consisted of exquisite food, and boring repetitive lectures on economics, trade, and war tactics, with each of his teachers more boring than the last with their long-winded speeches that could put anyone to sleep in a matter of minutes.
Before all that, Regulus used to enjoy his days when he could sneak off from boring teachers and sit in the garden sketching and painting to his heart's desire. He missed when he got to go for a carefree ride on his horse and did not learn about the best way to ambush an enemy when in a mountain pass. But the thing that Regulus missed most of all was his older brother Sirius.
Three years ago Sirius had escaped into the night never to be seen again leaving Regulus the sole heir to their parents' kingdom. Regulus missed the days when he had no responsibility but h3 missed his brother more, Sirius was one of the only people that could bring colour into Regulus' bland world. The pranks the two would pull on unsuspecting castle staff, although the tricks were never too cruel the staff had enough to deal with when their parents were there. And as much as Regulus wanted to resent Sirius for leaving him all alone with their parent he just couldn't, he knew that Sirius needed to leave he just wished he could've gone with him.
Regulus believed he would be stuck in a repeating cycle of boredom for the rest of his life and he truly didn't believe that anything or anyone could change the outcome of his life. His parents would marry him off to some princess or the daughter of a lord for something political he wouldn't care to understand, and when he came of age he would be crowned king and his wife the queen. That was how Regulus thought his life would go with his whole future planned for him with no say in the matter. Regulus truly believed that until an assassination attempt on his life ended with a plot to uproot Black's house from the Kingdom's monarchy.
That day had been relatively typical for Regulus and when he said normal he meant utterly boring beyond belief, so if that morning you had told him that someone would try to kill him within the next twenty fours hours he would have laughed in your face and told you to have them do it right now. Although the more Regulus thinks back on that day and the events that had occurred which seemed completely coincidental at the time he begins to remember the sinking feeling of dread he had when he walked into his bed-chamber the collar of his shirt sticking to the back of his neck from the water droplets falling from his hair.
Regulus felt utterly comfortable in very few places within the castle, he hated the stares that curious staff would send the quiet heir of the Black family. Regulus often enjoyed leaving the suffocating walls of the palace and enjoying the well-kept gardens that surrounded it, even though his parents didn't particularly care for the botany aspect of the castle they still had people tend to it. Regulus didn't enjoy being inside the palace too much. It was too suffocating for his liking, but Regulus did feel comfortable in his room, the castle staff never came in when he was in there and the view of the gardens from his balcony always helped to inspire him for new pieces of artwork.
But that moment when he first stepped into his room something felt wrong as if somebody had come into his room and shifted all the furniture an inch from where it had been sitting, quickly scanning over the room Regulus went to the stone fireplace and picked up one of the heavier tools that had been sitting beside it. Holding the tool to his side Regulus began to do a thorough search of his room before he jolted back upright from a knock on the door.
Opening the door to a servant carrying a bundle of firewood, stepping out of the doorway the servant looked at Regulus curiously as he held the fire tool in his hand. Realizing what he was still holding he returned it to its place before excusing himself from the room and going into his balcony. The breeze lightly ruffled the fabric of Regulus' shirt from where it hung loose on his body, he pushed some of the lighter strands of hair behind his ear and out of his face as he walked over to the stone railing on the edge of the balcony.
Leaning against the railing Regulus waited till the fire had been lit properly and the servant had left his room. Making his way back into his bed-chamber the feeling of dread fell over him again. Regulus decided to shrug off the feeling as before when he searched for what was causing the feeling to find nothing. Slipping into his bed Regulus was instantly comforted by the weight of the blankets covering him, the silky water-like feel of the sheets that surrounded his body lulled him into a tired state, the crackling of the fire created a warm atmosphere, and the breeze that fluttered his curtains made the perfect sleeping conditions that very rarely came along.
Regulus could feel his eyelids starting to become heavy, much too heavy for him to be able to keep open, so instead of fighting it, Regulus succumbed to his need to sleep.
Regulus felt the cool breeze of the night tickle the back of his neck as he awoke, Regulus looked around his room as he waited for his eyes to adjust. Looking over to his balcony doors Regulus shot up from his previous position as he realized that the doors were open, he remembered that he had locked the balcony.
Pushing the covers off himself Regulus made his way to his balcony to lock the door, the feeling of a cold pointed tip pressed into the middle of Regulus' back.
"Don't move and your death could be quick." The intruder spoke, pushing the blade into Regulus' back. Panic flooded through his veins as he tried to figure out how to get out of this situation. Regulus was pulled away from the balcony and into the middle of the room, facing the fireplace in the center of the room Regulus looked upon the red embers of the dead fire and hoped that that would not be the last thing he saw. He wanted to see his brother again, feel the freedom he once had, fall in love and right then it felt as though all those things that Regulus longed for were going to be ripped away from him in some attempt on his life for something that was out of his power.
Loud footsteps were heard outside of Regulus’ door, and the pressure of the knife pressed against his back alleviated for a second as the assassin took some of their attention off of Regulus to monitor the door in those few seconds Regulus found bravery and a fire inside himself that he had never known before, lunging forward out of the grip of his attacker Regulus grabbed on of the heavy metal pokers from the face of the fireplace and swung around slamming it into the side of the assassins head, rushing away from the fireplace Regulus ripped open the door and ran out of his room.
Feet hitting the plush carpet underfoot Regulus pushed himself as much as he could as he searched the hallways for a guard there had to be one near him he had just heard footsteps, turning his head to the side Regulus crashed into something and collapsed into a heap on the floor at the impact of the hit. Looking up Regulus was met with the concerned face of a royal guard, pushing himself up Regulus started to explain what had happened quickly the guard yelled to the others behind him two of them followed him as they went in the direction of Regulus’ chamber three surrounded Regulus and ushered him down the hallway and one disappeared down the hallway to the guard station presumably to to get reinforcements to check on his room and to make sure the King and Queen were still alive. At that thought, Regulus decided it would be best to shut his mind off and follow the guards so that was what he did.
The next few days for Regulus seemed to all blur together, he went through his lessons barely listening to his tutors and mindlessly taking notes on what they said not to get lectured about paying attention, even though he had almost died days prior. Regulus was now forced into the throne room even more than he had been, as now investigators, royal guard, knights, and many others were coming to lend information on the assassin that had broken into his room, from what Regulus had heard the attacker was detained and locked away in one of the deepest parts of the dungeon, Regulus had been in that area once and he never wanted to have to see it again.
And now here he sat in the throne room once again reflecting on all that had happened to him to lead him up to this moment, it had been two weeks since the attempt on his life, and throughout those two weeks, he had been reminded that he should be grateful that it was an attempt and had not succeeded as if he had survived by some stroke of luck. Regulus was pulled out of his thoughts when the oak doors to the throne room were thrown open with a loud thud shaking the ground of the castle, earlier that evening the King and Queen had received word that new urgent information had been gained about the attack that could save the House of Black from utter inhalation at the hands of their enemies.
“Your Highnesses, we have found a source of information on the assassination attempt. It was not just a one-time thing, this was well planned out and has been in the works for years.” The man in front of the spoke, the final sentence he spoke with a much more serious tone Regulus could see his parents straighten up at it and the air around them became tenser. Nodding behind him, the guards opened the door, allowing two more guards to drag in a man.
At first, Regulus could not recognize him, but the clothes he was wearing showed that he was of high standing within the kingdom. The top he wore looked like it was made of fine velvet, though the sleeves were caked in what looked to be dried mud, Regulus couldn't tell from where he was sitting, his pants although torn and bloodied looked to be of high quality, and the gold and jewels glinting off his fingers just confirmed Regulus’ suspicions of this man being of high standing within society, there would likely be an uproar from his arrest.
The man raised his head to meet the eyes of the royal family and Regulus reeled back in shock, from the expressions on his parents' faces he could tell that this was not what they were expecting. The man was someone Regulus recognized it was someone he knew, the man in front of them was a member of the royal court, one of the many lords that were meant to be in the throne room when decisions were being made and conflicts were being sorted out, this was a man Regulus had known since he was a young boy this man in question had found Regulus one day in the garden alone and wandering and offered him his ear. Though when that had happened Regulus had been six and this man in front of him couldn't have been any more than 15 at the time, oh how Regulus wished he could be a child again. Looking towards his parents he silently asked if he could be excused from this horrible turn of events, his parents luckily taking pity on him let him leave the grand room before they began their interrogation.
The doors slammed shut behind Regulus but not even the thick oak of the doors could block out the shrill voice of his mother or the loud bellows of his father.
It had been a few days since that horrible afternoon and his parents had called him to discuss something with him. Entering his father's study he greeted his father with a respectful nod before he turned toward the other person in the room.
"Regulus this is (Insert Name), they will be watching over you to ensure there isn't another attempt on your life." His father spoke gesturing towards the other person in the room.
(Insert Name) was someone Regulus had seen before, they were a knight for the kingdom and had won many battles and had gained the respect of many in the kingdom. But not only was their reputation that of a knight their appearance was as well, they wore the usual chest plate of armour with the kingdom's emblem and arm guards, along with a green cape with silver accents. On their hip, they had their sword in a black sheath. They stood on guard and exuded the confidence all the other knights carried.
"I will protect his highness with my life sire." You respond to his father with a bow before turning to face Regulus and bowing to him. At that moment Regulus knew that the two of you would not get along.
The first few days of having you around were difficult for Regulus, he felt trapped, and you never left him alone. Even when he was going to sleep you would do a sweep of his room before he laid down, and you would come hourly to do another sweep of the room which had woken him up a couple of times. The overprotectiveness was annoying he couldn't deal with and his emotions were starting to boil over.
"You know you don't always have to wake me up to make sure I don't get killed, if your job is to look after me then you are doing a shit job," Regulus shouted after he was woken up for the second time that night.
"I'm sorry sir, but I need to make sure that you stay safe. It would be a deep regret if anything were to happen to you." You responded in a calm voice, this just angered him more.
"Ya because if anything were to happen to me, you would lose your oh-so-perfect reputation." Regulus lashed out at you, he hated this, he hated having a babysitter because of one incident he hated this, and all of this was bubbling up as anger and hatred towards you.
“Regulus, I understand that this arrangement is not ideal. But this is for your safety, I am only taking so many precautions so that you can stay safe. You can be angry at me all you want hell you can hate me, my job isn't to be loved by you it's to keep you safe, and I’m sorry that I have woken you up I will try to be quieter next time.” You spoke back to him just as calmly as you did before, leaving the room and leaving him in darkness with his thoughts. From that moment Regulus knew that maybe this wasn't just hard for him it was hard for you, you had to deal with his attitude and you were able to stay pretty calm, he knew that he was going to have to go easier on you or he might regret it.
From that day forward Regulus tried to be more patient, he engaged with you in more conversations and learned a great many things about you, one of those things being your love of horseback riding. So for today, Regulus decided that the two of you would enjoy the warm weather you were graced with and head out for a nice ride.
“It is unusual for you to ride your Highness, are you feeling quite alright?” You questioned once you had stopped to pause your ride.
“I happen to enjoy horseback riding very much, I just haven't had the time, or the clearance, to be able to go. But my schedule finally allowed it and I have you with me so what would stop me.” Regulus responded quickly, it came out much harsher than he intended and he internally cringed at the tone of voice he delivered his response in. but he lightened up on himself when he saw you smile at him.
“Nothing would stop you, your highness, you just look so at peace when you're out here, it's almost like your a different person.” You spoke out, moving your head down so that your hair shielded your face from his sight.
“We should continue on there are places I would like to go before I am needed back at the castle,” Regulus shouted out, breaking the calm mood that had formed between the two of you, galloping away he couldn't help the simile that stretched across his face as he heard you laugh from behind him.
“Of course your Highness I wouldn't want to make you late for your oh-so-important meeting with your mirror.” You quipped back at him, encouraging your horse to race ahead of him.
“Aren't you supposed to stay by my side and protect me,” Regulus shouted out from behind you.
“I would be able to if you could keep up.” You shouted back to him, turning around to look at the prince and send him an innocent smile as if you had never done anything out of protocol for a guard. But at that moment Regulus couldn't care less if you had breached protocol, you looked ethereal, with the way your face glowed from the sun hitting it through the trees highlighting all the beautiful colours hidden in your skin, to the creases by your eyes caused by a radiant smile, to Regulus at that moment you're a walking deity, a being born of starlight that was sent to earth to make it more beautiful.
You were so stunning tha-..... Regulus slowed his horse in an attempt not to fall off, he had just been hit in the face with a branch, or more accurately he had ridden into a branch because he was not focusing on anything but you.

Kenma POV
The walk back to the inn was quiet and Kenma felt pretty nervous. The walk back to the inn was nice, though Kenma couldn't let go of his racing thoughts, the memory of you pulling him away from the woman in the market repeatedly replaying in his head. He could have sworn that you sounded annoyed and restrained when you were talking to the woman as if you were trying your hardest not to punch her in the face, though Kenma could never picture you doing that to someone, the more he thought about the more a small part of him believed that you did it out of jealousy. I mean the two of you had almost kissed just the night before, or at least that's what Kenma thought had happened.
Before Kenma realized it they had met with the group outside the inn.
“I signed us out, and paid for everything now it's time to get going,” Daichi stated once he knew that the whole group was there and that they were all listening, although Kenma was still lost in his head. He was so lost that he didn't even realize that they had entered the mountain pass until the sun was blocked entirely from his vision by the rock overlapping and creating a rocky canopy for the group.
“Man this is nice, out of the sun I was starting to boil,” Tendou shouted, throwing his head back and shaking out his hair causing drops of sweat to fly out and hit Akaashi in the face.
“Maybe if you didn't insist upon wearing fifty layers you wouldn't have to face the risk of boiling.” Akaashi snipped back, wiping the sweat off his face while throwing Tendou a disgusted look.
“Ya, well at least the layers stop anyone from actually having to smell me, I mean all I smell from you is dirt, mud, worms, and oh what was that last one? … right more dirt, honestly Akaashi I would think you would at least try to smell appealing with a face like that. If you did, ladies would like you.” Tendou yelled, his arms waving around to help accentuate each point he made in his rant. This only caused Akaashi to shake his head and move closer to the front of the group.
"Least on the last date I went on my ex didn't show up and cut off my eyebrows," Akaashi shouted back, snickering while Tendous's mouth dropped to the floor at the audacity that Akaashi had.
"Stupid Akaashi, stupid dirt man," Tendou grumbled as his horse fell back beside Kenmas.
"You so lucky he doesn't attack you Kenma, all I get is 'oh Tendou you have terrible luck, and oh remember the time you pushed your date into the mud, teehee so silly'," Tendou complained, trying to mimic Akaashis's voice but it was just high pitched and squeaky.
"Did you push your date into the mud?"  Kenma inquired.
"Oh ya, honestly it was hilarious. His date's dad did not want them going out, for obvious reasons, but Tendou still had to take them out then they saw their dad and with Tendous's brilliant thinking, he pushed them in the mud so he wouldn't see them together. That was not a relationship that lasted long." You answered, falling into the same pace as the other two.
"Ya well, it's not like you've ever had that many successful dates, well until recently." Tendou quipped back at you, wiggling his eyebrows and making kissy faces at you.
"Shut up, mud boy." You yelled before trotting ahead of the two.
"What were you talking about with their dates recently?" Kenma inquired, looking over to Tendou who only gave him a sly look in return.
“With you, of course, you two paired up for the festival. And then I saw the two of you run off together. It's not hard for us to see what's going on between the two of you.” Tendou responded, causing Kenma to fluster under the other man's gaze. This caused Tendou to laugh as he made his way up front leaving Kenma in the back of the group.
The group continued on the path but much more silently as they had been and as they started to ascend the mountain the path got steeper and much causing them to go one by one in a line up the mountain. Kenma could feel himself beginning to grow anxious, not only would a fall from this height kill someone but storm clouds were beginning to roll in. Kenma was sure that he had heard a clap of thunder. And just as Kenmas worries started to reach their peak a streak of lightning flashed across the sky as the clouds opened and let the rain fall towards them.
Kenma was sure he was going to fall now, the wind was wiping by him blowing his hair into his face along with dirt and small stones affecting his vision. The rain pelted down on them soaking through their clothes and allowing the cold to sink deep into their bones, and as the water droplets ran down their faces into their eyes it blurred their vision making it harder to see, and much more dangerous to continue on the path. But there was no room to turn around, there was barely enough room for the horses, so they just had to keep moving and hop for the best.
“There should be a cave somewhere up ahead where we can wait out the storm,” Daichi yelled from the front of the group, his voice being drowned by the howling winds and rumbling thunder, so much so that Kenma had to strain himself to hear exactly what their leader was saying at the moment.
Just as Daichi was about to yell something out to the group, a clap of thunder roared and a lightning bolt soared above them striking the side of the mountain just above them sending rocks tumbling down toward them. Then another clap of thunder and another bolt of light, this time hitting the ledge. The horse became spooked and started sounding their resentment to the weather as they began to puck and try to get off the cliff. And then again another strike of thunder shook the ledge, followed b the third strike of lightning.
Only this time when the lightning struck the side of the cliff, the ledge collapsed underneath them sending the group tumbling down the side of the mountain into the abyss below.

✧☽☀☾✧☽☀☾✧☽☀☾✧☽☀☾✧☽☀☾✧☽☀☾✧☽☀☾✧☽☀☾✧
Blaise Zabini was a man of few words, many people found him intimidating, and many others at Hogwarts couldn't understand the little things he did to express his emotions. You could though, at least you liked to think that, you would catch how he smiled to himself when one of his friends did something amusing, or the looks of irritation at some of their more unfavourable actions, his way of looking right through people he didn't care for as if they had never existed in the first place, and the look he gave you one of annoyance.
You could never understand what you had done to make him find you so annoying and unapproachable that his opinion of you could never change, but you did remember the first time he had given you that look, it had been in your fourth year Snape along with many of the other professors decided that since there was a competition your school was competing in they should promote inter-house unity, although you believed that Snape was forced to do it. Snape taking his chance to torture his students even more decided to choose our partners for potions for the whole year and he had pit you with Blaise Zabini. When you had first been put with him you were ecstatic, you had been harbouring feelings for the boy but the annoyance that spread across his face the more you talked with him lowered, and lowered your hope of any romance blooming between the two of you.
So now you sat hopelessly staring at him while he sat eating utterly oblivious to your longing stare. However, you couldn't say much as you had tuned out to what your friends had been talking about until one of them shook you much too harshly in your opinion and brought your attention back to your table.
“Are you staring at Zabini again?” Susan questioned, turning to answer her you took in the unimpressed look on her face and changed your answer to one that would not make her lecture you for hours.
“NO, I have completely and utterly forgotten about him. Why should I like someone after what happened.” You remarked, stuffing slices of peach into your mouth to avoid having to talk about this anymore.
“Because you so got over him after that, and didn't get drunk last year and confess your love for him to us during a party.” Susan quipped back, you cringed at the mention of that party, but even more, so that people still remembered the ‘incident’, even though you were the one that brought it up.
The ‘incident’ as everyone had named it was something known throughout the entirety of the housemates in your year as well as quite a few other students in your year and a few above. The ‘incident’ occurred about a month before the yule ball in your 4th year, right around when everybody else started to ask people out to the ball.
It had been a nice day. You remember that the ground was covered in snow but it wasn't too windy and there weren't any clouds so the sun had direct access to the usually freezing halls of Hogwarts. You had planned it out from scouting, or as Susan called it stalking, you figured out what Zabini usually favoured at Honeydukes and found out about a book he had been eyeing up for the past few weeks. And so you were ready to give Zabini his gifts, ask him to the ball where the two of your loves would be cemented forever and he would then ask you to be his partner and you would live happily ever after the end. Well, maybe not all of that but you were at least hoping that he would accept you as a date to the ball. You had tuned into all the gossip in the school to make sure he did not have a date, even going as far as getting the Hogwarts gossip magazine some of the students usually put together. The ball was filled with people and their dates as well as speculated dates to the ball.
Carrying your bag of gifts you looked for him across the courtyard, having seen Draco and his posey walkout there only a few moments ago, finally spotting him walking away from the group you took the chance and made your way over to him.
“Zabini could I speak with you for a moment?” You asked, your fingers fiddling with the ends of the string you used to tie the bag together. The only response he gave you was a silent nod of the head.
I just wanted to give you this and ask if you wanted to go to the Yule ball with me?” You stuttered out, thrusting the bag into his chest and locking your arms at your side once he took the gift from you. You waited for his response until you heard the horrible sound of mocking laughter. Looking up you spotted Draco and his gang walking up to the two of you as he and the rest of them laughed and pointed at you. You looked towards Blaises face to see if he would say anything to defend you or to make fun of you. Instead of being met with laughter by him, you were met with a face full of disgust, it was worse than any rejection you had imagined in your head. He looked down at you with such a horrid facial expression, if it had ended there you would have been fine but no, he dropped the bag you had given him onto the ground for the contents to spill out onto the snow-covered ground.
“Oh Blaise don’t be cruel, it’s obvious that they are madly in love with you.” Pansy mocked in her usual high and annoyingly squeaky voice.
“She’s right you know Zabini, you really shouldn't be cruel your admirer at least had the idea to corner you alone.” Draco jested, as he walked over to wrap an arm around Zabinis shoulders and peek at what you had gotten his friend, only to shriek in delight when he realised that you must have put great detail into finding out what his friend enjoyed.
“Why are you still here?” You heard a cold voice ask, looking up Blaise's face of disgust looked down at you and with that, you turned on your heel and took off back to the Hufflepuff common room where you could cry to the comfort of your friends.
But even as you ran from them you could still hear the jests and taunts that the Syltherins threw at you, you really should have listened to your friends.
Shaking your head you tried to push the memory back into the locked box in your brain that it was usually located in and tune back into what your friends were doing, only to realise that they had gotten up and were grabbing their bags to go.
“Where are you guys going?” You asked curiously as usually, they would stay the entirety of lunch and rarely ever wanted to leave, though you felt pretty silly when they looked at you as if you had just forgotten the most essential thing in the world.
“We have potions now, and you know how long it takes to get to the dungeons,” Susan answered, shaking her head as she muttered curses at you, realising yes it was time to go, you shot up from your spot at the table, careful not to spill any food on your uniform and grabbed your bag to head to potions with your friends.
Entering the potion classroom you slipped into your seat doing your best to avoid the gaze of your teacher at any of the students you had arrived late to the classroom. Slughorn takes the same wanting of inter-house unity as Snape had done two years ago, although with a much smaller group.
The stool next to you was pulled out from under the desk causing you to tense up at the presence that had now joined you at your table. You could feel his eyes boring holes into your skull as you pulled out a quill and some parchment, pausing when Slughorn called you all to gather around his desk to be introduced to the potion that you would all begin to start brewing.
Slughorn introduced the potion that you would be brewing: Amortencia, a powerful love potion. Deciding to show one of the potions many interesting natures he called each student up to come and smell the potion. You fiddled with a fraying edge on your robe as you waited for Slughorn to call you up, the anticipation slowly eating away at your nerves. You knew what you were going to smell, or more likely who you were going to smell, you just really didn't want to have to admit that to your friends who would inevitably ask once class was over.
Finally, after what felt like hours, probably only a couple of minutes, you were called to the front of the class. Leaning over the cauldron you were jit with the smell of earl grey tea, expensive cologne, old inks, and the yellowing pages of the books in the library. All smell’s you would associate with Blaise Zabini.
Moving back to your spot with the rest of your class you kept your head right at the board to avoid the wanting stares your friends were casting at you. Although looking straight ahead also gave you the view right across the caldron holding the potion, giving you perfect sight of each student's face as they each went to smell it, and just your luck the person right across from you now was Blaise Zabini. Watching him as he shifted his body forward wafting the scent of the potion up. After a moment his eyes flickered up and you could have sworn that he smirked just slightly when your eyes met. But just as quickly as you saw it disappeared and he went back to his spot at the back of his class with the rest of Dracos posey.
The rest of the class went by relatively quickly, with what you can only describe as an aggressive amount of teasing grins and knowing looks thrown your way. But along with your friends being obnoxious, you could say that the accidental bumps of your and Zabini’s hands happened more than what would usually happen. You could also say that there was more lingering gaze coming from the boy beside you, you really couldn't have this happen it would only give you false hope.
And just as you thought once you had arrived in the common room you were swarmed by your friends with a million questions about what you had smelled, or should you say who you smelled.
“Come on (Insert Name), you have got to tell us.” Susan chided as she rocked you back and forth trying to convince you to tell her who it was.
“Well, I did smell some expensive cologne, old ink, and old books.” You answered back being careful with what you said to not give away who exactly it could be, although knowing your friends and what they knew of you it couldn't be more obvious.
“That's just things you would use to describe Blaise, honestly you keep saying you got over him but it is so obvious that you're still head over heels for him. Just admit that you like him, even though he’s a total jerk and doesn't deserve you, the heart is an uncontrollable force.” Susan spoke, wrapping you in a warm embrace as she cuddled up to you on the couch so you wouldn't have to wallow in pity on your own.
Moving on from that day you noticed a significant shift in Blasises actions, in the great hall during meals you made more eye contact with him and he seemed to hold it for longer, in hallways or crowds it seemed like he would look for you in them always being able to find your eyes, it was even more extreme the accidental bumping of your hands happened even more and it seemed like his hand would linger each time.
It all concluded when you felt someone bump into your back looking at who it was, you saw Zabini walking away from you. Just as you were about to call out to him you felt something in your hand, not understanding how you hadn't felt it there before you opened your hand to find a neatly folded piece of paper.
‘I’m sorry, meet me by the lake at midnight sharp.’ the note read out in handwriting that was oddly familiar to you.
And so for the rest of the day, you waited anxiously for 12 to roll around, and when it finally did you threw on your sweater and snuck out of your dorm careful not to wake any of your roommates who would insist on coming with you so that nothing bad happens to you.
Slipping into the corridor waited to hear any footsteps before you carried on, hurrying through the passages out to the lake where you saw a figure standing, the moonlight reflecting off the lake and onto them creating a halo around them.
Standing in front of the figure you were met with the face you had memorized so many times, the face that made your heart swell and the very face that shattered your heart into a million pieces.
“Zabini what are you doing here?” You asked shifting on your feet as you stated out at the lake refusing to meet his eyes.
“I wanted to say I’m sorry for what happened that day, I shouldn't have acted like that. I was flustered and I got nervous. No one I have ever liked has confessed to me like that.” He answered reaching out and grabbing your hand. Looking at his face it was filled with a softness you had never seen directed at you, a softness that you had never seen ever.
“I know that's not an excuse for what I said but I would like to start over, I want to be something with you, anything, please.” He continued his grip on your hand tightening.
“I think we could be something.” You said laughing up at him.
“Oh and I loved the book, thank you.” He said softly as the two of you leaned in meeting each other as the moon danced across the water.

2nd POV
Sunlight flickered across your room as the wind blew open your curtains, squinting you made your way over to shut the window and block out the sun. Just as you were about to crawl back into bed a loud bang from your door stopped you, peeking through the door crack and you were met with the stern face of Daichi, not what one wanted to see right when they got up in the morning.
“Breakfast, hurry up or we’ll leave without you,” Daichi yelled through the door. Knowing that he wasn't bluffing you changed quickly from your night clothes into more simple clothes for the day before rushing to the restaurant area of the inn where you were met with the smiling faces of your friends as each of them recalled their adventures from the night before.
“And what did you get up to (insert name)?” Tendou asked while his face was graced with a look of mischief. You felt yourself fluster and stumble over your words as you remembered the events of the night before, this only seemed to entertain Tendou more as he let out a loud laugh at your current state of embarrassment.
“We will need to restock on a few things before we leave,” Daichi stated, the rest of your table nodded in agreement as each of you went over a list of items you would need to purchase. Once you had all decided on what you would need, the tab was paid and you each headed out to find what you were looking for.
The streets were packed with bustling villagers, some trying to take down stalls from the festival and others running around town trying o complete their day-to-day chores and shopping. This only made moving through the streets harder as you were trying to avoid soaking your foot in mud from the leftover puddles of the night before.
Turning down an alleyway you were able to catch your breath as you took a moment from the bustling people just a few meters away from you, looking down the other side of the alley you saw an exit into what looked to be the market of the village, just what you were looking for.
The market was a busy place, much busier than you thought it would be considering the size of the town, but not the busiest market you had ever been to. It was nice, to say the least, the quick comings and goings of bored children dragged here by their parents, the shouts of haggling over the price of flour. And of course merchants with invoicing speeches about how much better their product was than the merchants beside them.
Moving through all the chaos you scanned the shops and stalls for one that specializes in the bow and arrow, passing by a herb stall you did a double take as you saw Kenma, and not only that the vendor of the stall seemed a little too close to him then you would have liked.
You felt something bubble up in your stomach as the woman behind the counter leaned in closer to Kenma and brushed her fingers against his arm, both of them laughed at something she said. Moving closer to the stall you wandered around the outside of it as you tried to stay undetected by the two.
"You know you're handsome, are you staying for a while?" The woman asked, leaning even closer towards Kenma. You dug your nails into your palms, the feeling of bile rising from your stomach up to your throat. Looking over to the two of them you noticed how Kenma fiddled with his fingers and leaned back ever so slightly while looking down and away from the woman. You recognized movements as the same ones from the dinner, Kenma was nervous and you needed to swoop in and save him.
"Oh Kenma there you are, I was looking all over for you." You said as you wrapped your arm around him and started to lead him away from the booth.
"Who's this Kenma?" The woman asked, the two of you turned around to face and she looked you up and down with judgment written on her features.
"I'm his friend, and we need to pick something up. So we will be seeing you." You answered, turning around and pulling him away with you.
"Thank you for that," Kenma whispered as he looked towards the ground.
"It was no problem, I would have done that for anyone." You answered back, removing your arm from his shoulders.
"Now, I need to get arrows and my bow restrung." You said, linking your arms together and pulling Kenma through the market.
You wandered through the stalls and shops looking at little trinkets and bobbles spread out across the different tables, and finally, you found what you were looking for. It was a small shop nestled in between an extravagant fabric store legend with pink yellow and orange fabrics—pale silks and glittering sheer fabrics that hung around the stall creating a shimmering curtain around the booth.
On the other side of the shop sat a baker's stall, baskets were filled with freshly baked bread, and other pastries that gained the stall a line as long as the path to the far end of the village. The shop in between the two stalls was a permanent one, the base of it was made of stone while the rest of the building was made of dark wood.
The inside was just what you would have pictured bows hung along the wall while baskets of arrows littered the floor of the shop.
"What can I help you two with?" The shopkeeper asked, looking over at the two of you.
"I need my bow restrung." You answered while placing your bow on the glossy counter. The shopkeeper nodded, taking the bow from you the shopkeeper walked into the back leaving you and Kenma in the front room.
"What exactly are you looking for?" Kenma asked as you started to wander around the shop.
"Light but sturdy arrows." You answered back, picking up arrows and checking the balance on them. Picking up the arrows you decided which ones you wanted and walked towards the front counter as the shopkeeper came out with the bow.
Paying, the two of you left for the inn to meet up with the rest of your party.

Kenma POV
Stepping out of the inn Kenma was met with the warmth of the setting sun falling onto his face, as he looked onto the streets around him he was met with the sight of children on their parents' shoulders lighting lanterns causing a cascade of colourful light to dance upon the dirt roads of the village. Turning his head he saw your smiling face waving to him as you and the rest of the group waited for him to join you.
Each party member wore beautifully elegant clothes and Kenma wondered if you all brought them or if Tendou had supplied you each with an outfit that fit each of you well. Joining up with the group Kenma was met with a flurry of compliments on his clothes and bombarded with lists and ideas on what you should all do for the evening. (Insert Name) and Tendou got into an argument about whether they should get food first or play some of the festival games dotted along the streets. Daichi, the piece maker decided that the group should split up so that everyone could do what they wanted and that you would all meet up once the festival started to slow down.
That was how Kenma ended up alone with you, his hand clasped tightly in yours as you dragged him to different games. Looking up, Kenma was met with a well-lit tent with what looked like a small river running through it; the river had other flowers floating through the water. The game from the tent was simple: you had to collect as many flowers as you could before the time ran out, and depending on how many flowers you got you could win a prize.
“I am going to get that bear.” You shouted out, pointing to the stuffed panda bear hanging on the wall of prizes. Kenma couldn't help but admire the way your face lit up with excitement and determination. Kenma knew at that moment he would do anything to get you that bear, even cheat, but he wouldn't let you know that.
Holding a net each, you waited until the hourglass was tipped over and then you shot down scooping it through the water pulling flower after flower. Kenma, on the other hand, had more difficulty, when he pulled the net up he did too fast losing the flower and splashing himself in the face with water, this happened more times than he would like to admit. Finally, the time ran out, your bowl holding the flowers was practically overflowing, while Kenmas was almost empty and he was soaked head to toe.
Holding your arms out for your prize, you squeezed it before handing it over to Kenma.
“Here I won it for you.” You spoke, looking away from him, he was glad you did because then you wouldn't see the blush that took over his face.
Just as he was about to thank you for the gift Kenma was interrupted by a whizzing in the air and then a loud crack, colour washed over your face as you looked towards the sky, and as much as Kenma wanted to see what had interested you all he could do was admire you.
“Come on, let's go find a place where we can see them better.” You shouted over the crowd, he nodded in agreement as he followed you through the crowds of people looking towards the sky and enjoying the night.
Kenma’s legs started to burn as the two of you made your way up the grassy hill, he knew that he didn't get out a lot but climbing up this hill should not have been as difficult as it was. Oh did he wish he had started working out with the guards when they had offered.
Finally, after the ages it took to climb the hill, in reality, it took only a few minutes, the two of them reached the top and to Kenmas great pleasure there was a bench just waiting to be used. So Kenma took the opportunity and collapsed onto the cool wooden surface of the bench as he listened to your awed gasps of the fireworks.
Just as Kenma relaxed into the calm atmosphere that was created around you two it was shattered by your huff of discontentment as the rain started to fall from the sky, sitting up Kenma made space for you on the bench so that the two of you could take shelter under the tree that covered the hill.
“I can’t believe this, I barely got to watch them, and now it's all over. I never get to see fireworks and the one time I do it has to get washed out by the rain doesn't it.” You complained as you slouched down crossing your arms with a comically large pout on your face. Kenma couldn't help but let out a small chuckle at your childish actions which only worsened when you sent a glare his way causing Kenma to cough to try and cover up the new set of laughter that went through him.
“You know I have been meaning to work on my illusion magic for some time, and this would be good practice for me,” Kenma spoke after calming down from his fit of laughter. Looking up at him with wide eyes you quickly nodded your head and motioned for him to start the spell. Moving his eyes from you he focused on his hands before whispering a spell under his breath, and just like that sparks of colour started shooting out from the palm of his hand.
“That's amazing Kenma, when did you learn how to do that?” You questioned, voice filled with excitement as your eyes studied the small shoots of colour.
“It was one of the first things I was taught.” He answered back, smiling down at you. Looking up from his hand both of your eyes connected and at that moment Kenma was sure he felt a spark.
“Well, it’s amazing, you're amazing.” You whispered out, as your eyes flickered across his face lingering on his lips just a moment longer than anywhere else. There was no time to think the two of you started to lean into each other.
Suddenly a loud crack of thunder hit causing the two of you to jump apart from each other. The sky had gotten much darker, the sun had fully set a while ago and the storm clouds blocked out any light from the moon.
“We should get back to the inn.” You rushed out, looking towards the sky. Kenma quickly agreed with you wary of anything else that might come from the storm.
Quickly the two of you made it down the hill trying to avoid slipping as the rain had created large puddles of mud and the two of you would hate to have to deal with Tendou if you ruined his clothes. Finally, the two of you made it back to the inn but not after being thoroughly soaked.
“I’ll see you tomorrow Kenma.” You spoke, making your way up the stairs after you bid the rest of your friends a good night. Deciding you had the right idea Kenma followed up the stairs and turned into his room to process the event of the day.
It was going to be a long night.

2nd POV
The pounding in your head was starting to become unbearable, and the voices around you were much too loud for your liking. The only thing that brought you any sense of calm was the warm pressure around your hand and the soothing circles that were being rubbed into your skin.
“- up please.” You heard a voice whisper into the darkness.
“Please wake up, come on (Insert Name), please wake up, please.” The voice called again, it sounded so familiar, so comforting. The pressure on your hand increased and light started seeping into your vision.
It was all so blurry and much too bright for you causing you to squint your eyes to block out the bright sunlight that blared down on you, you could see dark outlines of people from under your eyelashes, you could hear that they were saying things but you couldn't hear them and it only made you groan, rolling over to your side you covered your ears to try and block out the sounds that were causing you pain.
“Get up (Insert Name), you need to eat.” A voice called as they pulled you onto your back. Groaning you sat up, blinking a couple of times your vision seemed to clear up, and the ringing in your ears finally subsided.
Looking towards the voice your eyes focused on Akaashi, he was crouching down beside you with a bowl of broth in his hand. Taking the bowl from him you started to eat only then feeling the dull ache in your stomach as it called for food, Quickly finishing the broth you handed the bowl over to your companion as he went to refill the bowl for you.
As you waited for Akaashi to come back you started to look around the surrounding area, the small clearing that your group had settled in was under a large canopy of brightly coloured leaves, the branches were reached over to one another and tangled together creating a dome-like roof over the ground, running through the clearing was a small stream just large enough for the horse to drink from and for water to be collected from. Looking at the water you realised that you were quite thirsty and that the broth Akaashi had given did not help with the need to rehydrate.
You started to push yourself up to go and fetch some water when a hand came down on your shoulder lightly pushing you back into your previous sitting position.
“Where do you think you're going, you still need to rest.” Looking over you met Kenmas face as he waited for you to answer his question.
“Water.” Was all you rasped out, as you pointed towards the stream. Kenma quickly understood, reached behind him, and pulled out a waterskin, handing it over to you quickly undid the lid on it and put it to your mouth as you poured the cool water down your throat, your body accepting it gratefully. Thanking him you handed the empty waterskin back as he stood up and went to refill it in the stream. Just as Kenma left, Akaashi joined you again with the refilled bowl of broth for you.
Your group rested there until midday when they packed up the satchel bags and cleaned up the camp to get rid of any evidence that your group had been in that area. Daichi was at the head of the group as per usual and set a slower pace, wary of the condition you were currently in. Behind him was Akaashi who kept a relaxed face throughout the ride. You were in the middle with Kenma by your side, the two of you talked in hushed whispers giggling every so often as one of you made a joke. Tendou took up the rear of the group and filled any silence with the sound of an instrument and a song to go along.
"It was amazing, that spell you lit up the whole sky." You exclaimed to Kenma, as the two of you were recounting the battle that had taken place just a few days ago. Kenma laughed at your excitement and leaned over to you. When he leaned over you could see all the details of his face, the way the skin around his eyes crinkled when he laughed at something you said, and the pink tint that covered his cheeks whenever you flustered him with your compliments. He was so pretty, Kenma made you happy and that made you flustered.
After about two hours of traveling, you came upon a small village, usually, when you came across these kinds of towns they were quiet with only a few people roaming around the streets as they went about completing their daily chores and tasks. But this village was different even from afar you could hear the commotion in the village, the loud banging of pots and pans, the screeches of children as they ran around creating whatever game they could think of. The closer you all came to the village the more of it you could see, people were wrapping flowering garlands around tents and booths, they were hanging strings of lanterns above the streets creating tunnels of light for people to pass through. The booths were being filled with all sorts of things from flowers and different clothing and hair pieces to tables full of food being prepared.
Dismounting from your horses you started to make your way through the town to find sleeping accommodations for the time being.
Finally, Daichi found an inn with a stable attached, booking rooms to stay in. Each of you went to settle in before you went out to get acquainted with the town that you are staying in.
✶☽✶☾✶☽✶☾✶☽✶☾✶☽✶☾✶☽✶☾✶☽✶☾✶☽✶☾✶☽✶☾✶
Kenma POV
Placing his bag down onto the worn carpet Kenma walked over to the window to observe the bustling movements of the villagers on the streets below. The amount of people in the streets had lessened since they first rode into the town, now it was just a couple of people adding what looked to be the finishing touches of festival decorations. The rest of the townsfolk seemed to be heading into their homes to prepare for the festival.
Kenma was pulled out of his thoughts by a knock on the door, moving from his spot at the window Kenma opened the door to Tendou smiling down at him.
“We need to get you ready. I have some clothes that fit you that you can borrow for the night.” Tendou said as he forced his way into Kenmas's room dropping a bag onto Canvas bag and pulling out different fabrics and jewelry pieces.
“Why do I need to get ready?” Kenma asked nervously, originally he was planning on just staying in his room for the night and watching the festivities from afar, that was always what he had done when parties happened in the palace.
“The Lunar Festival, you have to look at least a little presentable.” Tendou said blankly as he pulled Kenma over and started placing clothes on his body to see what would look best. Finally deciding on an outfit for him Tendou dropped the clothes and jewelry that went with the outfit into Kenmas arms, packing his bag Tendou sauntered out of the room presumably to move onto someone else in your group to harass.
Putting the clothes on Kenma had to admit that they were quite nice and very comfortable, the silky feeling of the outfit really comforted him as it made him remember summers spent in the lake as a way to escape his training. Tearing his mind away from reminiscing, Kenma focused his attention on the silver pieces of jewelry Tendou left him, slipping on the jewelry. The weight of the bracelets was quite comforting on his wrists and the elegance of the necklace made him feel regal.
“Kenma, we'll meet you outside the entrance alright.” Daich called out from outside Kenmas door. Hearing that Kenma stopped staring at himself in the mirror and grabbed his satchel making sure that it had everything he needed inside of it once he was sure he had everything he made his way outside.

Kenma POV
Kenma shot up and gasped out from his sleep at the feeling of being shaken, looking over he was met by your face, you were holding up a lantern.
“Come on Kenma, it's time for our shift.” You whispered so that you didn't wake anyone else up. Holding your empty hand out to him you stood up and motioned for him to join you. Kenma grabbed your hand and hauled himself up, he expected you to let go of his hand but you didn't you just held on tighter and dragged him over to your lookout point. Lighting a lantern you hung it up on a tree branch beside the rock that you had poached yourself on.
“Here come sit, that way we can watch each other's backs.” You started patting the rock, Kenma took the invitation. He felt heat crawl up his neck and take over his face as his hand was enveloped by yours.
The two of you sat like that in silence while you watched the woods, it was quiet for the most part the only sound coming from the whistle of leaves in the wind and the call of owls. It was peaceful and Kenma could enjoy that, but he couldn't help the feeling that something was watching him just waiting for him to look away so that it could get him, he tried to ignore the feeling but the more he looked out into the forest the more paranoid he became. The clearing was illuminated just enough that you could see where the rest of the group was resting and the outer edge of the clearing and just into the thick bundles of trees around it.
The more he looked into the forest the more he felt like someone was watching him, that something was stalking him like prey waiting for him to make the move that would seal his fate as just another animal lost to the wilds of nature. Kenma scooped back on the rock so that his back was right up against yours, he relaxed slightly when he felt your hand squeeze his, that calm he felt quickly turned to a cold sweat when he heard a rustling in the bushes just outside of the light of the lanterns.
Kenma squinted as he tried to get a better look as to what had made the noise but looking at the bushes all he could make out was some shapes of the leaves and some of the reflections they gave off, the shadows the trees cast down upon it, and two stony spheres staring right back at him. Kenma froze, something was definitely looking at him and whatever it was was aware that Kenma knew it was there. Kenma could barely make it out but he could see the creature's lips split open into a grin, a grin so large and so horrific that he knew this thing was not friendly and had no intentions of leaving the group in peace.

2nd POV
You loved this, you loved this time of night where everything was calm and the only things that could be heard were the nocturnal creatures of the night as they went out for food and to go about their normal duties. Usually you would sit and watch alone and as much as you liked to be alone with nature, being able to share this peace with someone else is something that you had always wanted.
The longer that you sat the more relaxed you could feel Kenma becoming. You didn't think that that would be something that would happen, in all honesty you didn't think he would be so willing to help out with things that were happening around your camp but you were glad that he did.
Suddenly you felt Kenma tense against your back and his grip on your hand tightened significantly. This worried you, because if he saw something out there it could put all of you in danger.
“There's something watching us.” Kenma whispered out. Right after he said that you heard one of the bells on the outlying posts Daichi set up, then you heard another and finally a third one. You grabbed Kenmas hand and quickly made your way back to the centre of the clearing where you and Kenma started waking the others up.
Just as everyone had woken up you felt something slam into your side and you went flying across the clearing where your back smashed into trees on the other side. Your head was pounding and your ears were ringing so much you could barely make out what your friend was screaming. You tried to see what was going on but it was all blurry, and the more you blinked the more blurry it started to get. You noticed black spots were starting to invade your vision, you couldn't pass out now not when your friends needed you not when they were in danger.
Just as you were starting to push up from the ground you felt your legs being grabbed and suddenly you were hoisted back up into the air, tensing your body you waited for impact with the ground but it never came instead you stayed hoisted in the air unable to see what exactly had picked you up.
Finally your vision cleared but in that moment you wish it had not. Right below your face was a stone troll, its giant head sat on an even bigger body, its complexion was a cool grey that matched its homeland of the mountains, and its face had a huge snarling grin. Just as it looked like it was about to throw you again its head whipped around at the sound of a howl.
The troll dropped you and went over to to the origin of the noise, picking yourself up your eyes followed after the troll to see two more, one grabbing at Akaashi as he dodged easily and the other the ground howling in pain with Daichi moving away from him to the troll that had attacked you.
"Here you're going to need this." Someone spoke as they shoved something into your hands, looking over you were met with Tendous worried expression you nodded and followed along after him.
Feeling what was in your hands you realised that it was your bow and arrows speeding up you found a spot a good ways away from the trolls but close enough that you could still get a good shot on them, taking aim you pulled the bow string back and let the arrow fly.
The arrow hit the troll on the ground in the back of its neck, you watched as its head slumped back onto the ground before taking aim at the troll Daichi was fighting.
Suddenly the troll that had attacked you came right at Daichi, you realised that Daichi was clueless to the attack that was about to happen. Just as you were about to yell out a warning to your friend and bolt of lightning hit the troll, sending him flying and crashing into trees just outside of the clearing.
Following the line in which the lighting came from your eyes settled onto Kenma, he stood with his hand outstretched. He was panting and he moved back to a standing position as he moved towards the troll Daichi and Akaashi were currently entertaining. You watched as Kenma came to a stop behind the troll, setting his feat apart into a stable position and stretching his hand out like he had before, and then another blast of lightning shot out from his hand and hit the troll in the back of the head. Kenma let out a shout of warning as the troll started to fall, Akaashi and Daichi heard his shout and moved out of the way just in time.
Loosening your stance and relaxing your muscles you felt your body start to become heavier, sitting on the ground you felt more and more of your energy deplete as the adrenaline rush started to fade away. Your vision started to become clouded by black dots and your ears started to ring. Finally, you felt your body tip over and you were greeted by an expanse of darkness as you fell unconscious.

2nd POV
Moving through the capital city took a bit of time but it was nice, when you had first made your way through you didn't really get to look at anything, but now you had more of a chance to observe the surrounding area of the castle. Just like many capitals the area closer to the castle was richer and more well kept. The streets were clean and the vendor area was more well kept and less all over the place, the houses kept up with maintenance and there was a larger guard presence here.
The farther your group got from the castle the more changes you started to notice, not that they were huge changes even on the final area of the capitol where the wealth was not as grand. The streets were still the same as in the upper class area, just a little less kept and the market area was more crowded and a little less organized, the houses here were kept up just as they were anywhere else in the city and the number of guards here was definitely less.
“Wow, the capitol is really well taken care of.” You thought out loud not really meaning for anyone to hear you.
“Yes, the King believes that if the kingdom takes care of its people the people will take care of the kingdom.” Kenma responded to you, you nodded your head in understanding as you continued on your search of the surrounding city.
Your group soon came to the gates of the city where merchants and other carts and horses, as well as people walking, were moving in and out of. This gate was a tall stone wall with mosaics inlaid into the stone all across it, around the opening of the gates were groups of guards watching over the passing of people.
“Alright if anything happens and we are stopped, just let me do the talking and we should be able to not get arrested before our journey has even begun. Is that understood?” Daichi commanded pulling the group to a slower pace, once everyone stated they understood he picked up the pace back to what it once was.
Looking over at Kenma you noticed how he tensed as your group moved through the gate, you watched him a little longer once you had officially left the walls of the city but it only seemed that some of the tension in his body dissipated while simultaneously he looked even more freaked out.
“You're going to be ok, I'm not going to let anything happen to you, alright.” You said softly to Kenma, as you reached over to grab his hand and give it a light squeeze of reassurance he just nodded his head in acceptance before quickly looking in the other direction. Letting go of his hand, you urged your horse to speed up and join Daichi at the front.

Kenma POV
Kenma tried to ignore the pit that formed in his stomach after you let go of his hand, the warmth of your hand left its trace on Kenmas skin, making him start to fluster and as that warmth faded so did the red hue that had made its way up his neck and over his ears and cheeks.
“Well set up here for the rest of the night.” Daichi called out, his voice pulling Kenma back into reality. Kenma took in his surroundings and realised that hours had passed.
The clearing they had stopped in was surrounded by a loose inclosure of trees and the farther into the forest you looked the closer the trees became and the thicker the foliage got. The trees surrounding the clearing looked to be quite old considering the size of the trucks, and how the trees seemed to reach all the way into the sky as if they were ancient ethereal gods of the earth.
“Alright (Insert Name) you go collect firewood and then set up the fire, Akaashi you go tie down the horses and get them fed. Tendou and I will set up the perimeter and prepare dinner once it's ready.” Daichi announced once everyone dismounted from their horses. Kenma waited until Daichi gave him a task but nobody told him anything and started their tasks. Kenma jumped slightly when he felt a hand grasp his shoulder and give it a slight squeeze, looking over it was your smiling face. Kenma felt his face start to heat up as you kept looking at him.
“Kenma you can come with me since this is a pretty straightforward task, plus I can teach some survival skills along the way.” You cheered, grabbing his hand and pulling him along behind you. Kenma could feel the eyes of the rest of the group on the two of you, and he could hear some of the group snickering as the two of you continued your way into the forest.
“Alright we are going to need to collect some kindling along with some larger sticks so that the fire can burn longer, you can go collect the kindling, just small sticks and twigs I can collect the larger pieces of wood. And take this just in case.” You told him as you handed him a small dagger, the dagger had a thin silver blade, the hilt of the dagger was simple it was wrapped in leather and had a small opal inlaid into the center of the hilt just above the handle of the hilt.
Once you had told Kenma how to use the dagger and you made sure that he wasn't going to cut himself with it accidentally you went off swinging a small axe by your side. Kenma watched you walk away and he admired the way you seemed so at home and confident as you moved so gracefully through the trees it almost seemed like you were floating across the roots and stones that laid across the ground. Realising what he was doing Kenma quickly shook himself out of it and started to look for kindling.
Kenma quickly realised that the forest was a lot scarier than he originally thought that it would be, the farther that he walked away from the camp the darker the surrounding area, and the darker his surroundings became the more aware he became of the noises that started to surround him. Every caw of a bird and rustle of leaves had Kenma turning quickly around pointing his dagger in whatever direction he was facing, protecting himself and the pile of wood he had collected.
Suddenly Kenma felt something touch his ankle, quickly he spun around and stepped backwards. As he stepped backwards he tripped over something causing him to fall backwards, Kenma let out a loud scream as his arms pin wheeled around as he tried to gain back his balance but to no avail, Kenma fell backwards and started to tumble down down a cliff. Kenma kept calling out to himself and to the forest to stop his fall.
Kenma landed in a creak, looking up he heard rustling above him and he tensed waiting for whatever was coming to kill him to show up and get it over with. Finally something popped up over the top of the cliff, Kenma relaxed once he saw your worried face.
“Are you alright Kenma, I heard you scream and got here as fast as I could.” You shouted down to him as you started to look around the area around the two of you.
“Ya I’m ok, something touched my ankle and I got a little freaked out and tripped, but I’m okay just soaked.” Kenma responded as he stood up from the creak. Looking around Kenma found a long stick, speaking and enchantment Kenma transformed it into a rope.
“I am trying to find something to pull you up here.” You shouted down to Kenma, as you were trying to look for a vine or a stick you could use to pull Kenma up.
“Here I have a rope, I’ll throw it up to you.” Kenma shouted back to you. Nodding your head you stretched your arms over the cliff to catch the rope. Kenma threw up one end of the rope and it fell back in his face. After a few more failed attempts of throwing the rope up Kenma finally threw it so you could catch it.
“I’m just going to tie it to a tree then I’ll help pull you up.” You yelled as you disappeared from the edge of the cliff. Kenma waited for you to appear and help him back up the cliff.
“Alright Kenma I got the rope secured.” You called down to him as you motioned for him to climb up the cliff.
Kenma started his descent up the cliff, he quickly realised that climbing back up this cliff was a lot more difficult than rolling down the hill. He could feel the burning in his hand from where skin was starting to tear from the frayed rope, and he could feel the pain in his legs as he tried to support himself and make his way up the cliff. Once he had made it to the top of the rope you helped pull him up and over the edge of the cliff.
“Here you go, don’t want to lose this.” You said as you handed him his dagger. Kenma put the dagger away and started to pick up all the kindling that he had dropped.
“Alright Kenma we should probably head back before Tendou assumes we’re dead and starts writing a ballad about our heroic lives and our tragic sacrifice in the name of the greater good.” You joked, leading Kenma out of the woods and back into the clearing.
“Are you two alright? We heard a scream.” Daichi asked, the two of you dropped off your piles of wood.
“Ya, Kenma just fell down a cliff but the two of us are okay.” You answered as you started arranging rocks in the centre of the clearing for the fire.
“That still doesn't explain why mr.wizard over here is soaked to the bone.” Tendou teased as he draped himself over Daichi who quickly shook him off and went back to what he was doing.
“I fell in a creak, after I fell down the cliff. But my clothes are the only thing that got hurt.” Kenma spoke out softly as he shifted on his feet anxiously.
“We are glad that your clothes are the only thing that got hurt.” Akaashi responded, patting Kenma on the back and handing him a towel. Taking the towel Kenma thanked Akaashi and then grabbed a change of clothes from his bag.
After getting changed Kenma hung up his wet clothes across a tree branch. Moving back over to the centre of the clearing Kenma sat down beside you as you started to set up the fire.
“Do you still want to learn how to build a fire?” You asked Kenma who quickly agreed to learning how to build a fire.
The two of you spent the next 20 minutes setting up the fire, eventually the fire was in full roar. Akaashi started the herbal stew.
“So how are you feeling, you know after everything today.” You asked as you sat down beside Kenma.
“I guess, but falling in a creek wasn't what I expected.” Kenma responded as he stared into the fire.
The two of you sat in silence as you watched Akaashi finish up the stew. Daichi gave each of you bowls and you all ate in silence until Daichi brought up watch shifts.
“I can take the first watch.” Tendous offered, Akaashi would take the second shift, you and Kenma would take the third and Daichi would take the final watch. With that everyone except Tendou for Tendou as he took up his place for first watch.
Kenma rolled out his ground sheet and covered himself with his blankets, he kept tossing and turning trying to get comfortable, the ground was a lot more uncomfortable than he thought it would be, Finally he felt his eyes droop and he fell into the darkness of sleep.

Kenma POV
Kenma felt like throwing up. He had breakfast in his tower because he couldn't stand the thought of leaving his room and then having to interact with people while he tried to calm down. Though he didn't want to see anyone today he knew that he would have to deal with people today and tomorrow and the day after that, and however long this whole quest/adventure/task/job/mission would take.
As he continued to think about how much he despised people he was pulled out of his thoughts by a knock on the door. Opening the door he was greeted by the face of one of the servants in the castle, they informed him that the rest of his party were preparing to go and that he should go down to the stables to prepare his horse.
Having the servant bring down his bags Kenma slowly made his trek down to the stables, pausing for a moment to look out onto the gardens. As he looked over the garden, memories of you from the night before flashed through his head, feeling a blush spread across his face. Kenma quickly turned away from the window and continued his way down to the stables.
Walking out into the courtyard Kenma was welcomed with a chorus of good mornings as he made his way through to find the horse he would be taking on this adventure. Kenmas horse was by no means a big grand horse like some of the horses he had seen the soldiers and the knights of the kingdom ride, but his horse was also not a small one.
Kenma rode a brown horse with a mostly blond mane with the roots of the mane coming out as black but fading into the blond of the rest of the mane. Kenmas horse was built for speed and agility, which he very much enjoyed on the rides that he went on with his steed, though Kenma liked to keep his visits outside the palace to a minimum he did enjoy taking his horse, who he had named Juno when once the horse was born, he and Juno went on many rides through the forest surrounding the palace where Kenma found many different plants and magical resources that he could research and use.
While Juno usually had light riding gear attached to him, the gear he had on now was quite different in comparison. The saddle looked much heavier and it seemed to be made out of a stronger material than the usual leather saddle that both the rider and horse were used to. Along with the new saddle Juno wore light armour around his face and over his rear. Rested on the back of the saddle were two saddle bags, one that was filled with the normal adventuring stuff and the other filled with magical ingredients, books and artifacts, on top of the saddle rested a ground sheet and a sleeping roll wrapped inside of it so that if it rained it would stay dry.
“You all set there Kenma.” A voice shouted over to him from one of the other stalls, looking over Kenma spotted Daichi in the stall across from him attaching his supplies onto his horse. Daichis horse in comparison to Juno was quite a bit larger, the horse was taller and its legs were more built and defined with muscles. The horse was black with white fading into the hooves, and a large white spot on the rear of the horse right around the roots of the tail.
“Ya just checking everything over, I don't want to lose anything while we ride.” Kenma responded to the older man, grabbing onto Junos reins Kenma led them outside of the stables and into the front courtyard where the rest of the group, minus Daichi, was gathered.
Each of the horses seemed to represent not only the job of the group member but also who they were as well. Tendou’s horse was like him, a tall lean horse with a fiery mane. The saddle itself was a bloom of intricate designs and patterns, with colourful scarves hanging off from where they had been tied to the saddle. The saddle bags had bright patches sewn onto the all over, each patch was just as colourful as the last and each patch sported a different pattern making them each stand out from the dull brown of the natural leather. Poking out of the saddle bags Kenma could see a few instruments along with what looked like a large amount of clothes, some more extravagant than others.
Akaashi’s horse was an entirely black steed with a black mane that seemed to float around the neck and head of the horse. The saddle was a simple sturdy leather saddle with designs of leaves and plants running along the sides of the saddle and around the seat. The saddlebags on the horse also bore the same design of leaves and plants that the saddle sported, the saddlebags were neatly done up so that whatever was inside would not fall out on the journey.
Finally your horse, much like Kenmas, seemed to be born for speed and agility. It was a darker brown horse, one that looked like it could blend into any forest that it went into. The saddle looked much lighter than the saddles of the rest of your group but just as sturdy. Along with neatly done saddlebags a quiver of arrows was attached to the saddle towards the front of the horse.
Continuing on his path Kenma joined the three of you as the group waited on their paladin to join them.
“I hope you have everything, it would be such a pain for us to get going and you realise that you forgot something.” Kenma heard someone speak out, it took him a moment to register that the question had been directed at him. Looking around the group to see who had asked him, his eyes fell on Tendou who was giving him a questioning look, before he grabbed the side of his body because you jabbed him in the gut with your elbow.
“Please ignore him, he always does this to the people we travel with. Once he stops acting like a court jester he is actually quite nice.” You explained as you apologised for your friends actions. Kenma brushed off Tendous' words and assured you that he took no offence, and that he appreciated someone checking that he had everything, even if it was uncalled for, but he didn't share that part with you not wanting to upset you.
“Well now that we are all here we should head out before it gets too late in the day.” Daichi said, pulling the attention away from the conversation and over to him. Moving past the rest of the group Daichi mounted his horse and made for the entrance of the courtyard, following his lead, you and Akaashi mounted your horses, trailing after Daichi.
Tendou mounted his horse soon after the two of you and began making his way towards you before he looked back and gestured for Kenma to follow him. Kenma, taking the hint, mounted his horse, with only slight difficulty, and joined the rest of the party where Daichi and Akaashi were in conversation with the King.
“Now please hurry if this isn't dealt with quickly it could spell disaster not just for our kingdom but for the entire continent.” The King spoke with urgency and worry, Daichi assured the King that it would be taken care of and that there was nothing that he needed to worry about.
With that the group left the courtyard entrance and began making their way out of the capitol city and onto the darkness ahead.

Kenma POV
Kenma liked plants, he liked taking care of his garden in animal crossing and he liked creating beautiful scenery with the many plants he had acquired while he was playing the game. Kenma also liked collecting plants in minecraft so that he could create different potions, as well as having them for the decoration around his house.
But Kenma did not like plants in real life, they needed to be taken care of constantly, and Kenma usually forgot to do that. They were messy, especially when his cat knocked over the pots they were in. And they gave off pollen, Kenma was allergic to pollen. But he always seemed to have a bunch of plants littered around his home, and if you didn't know him you would have thought that he loved plants.
But there was a reason for the amount of plants he had in his house, and that reason was you. Now to fully understand why you were the reason for all the plants Kenma would have to back track to a few months prior.
Kenma was not a fan of the outdoors; he was even less of a fan when it meant he had to talk to people for more than his rehearsed take out orders, or when being told the total of his purchase. Now he had to go outside, and talk to someone as he had to pick up flowers for Kuroo because Kuroo was running late to his date, that he totally didn't forget about, and he couldn't get showered and ready for the date and have time to pick up flowers, as that would make him more than fashionably late in his eyes.
So here Kenma was, walking along the sidewalk trying to locate the shop he looked up so he could get this whole thing over with. Just as he was about to give up he noticed a bright spot of colour just a few doors down from him, rushing there Kenma was glad to realise that he had found the ever elusive final boss he was looking for.
Opening the door of the small shop Kenma was immediately hit with the overwhelming scent of flowers, and other plants alike within the shop, all trying to suck up the sun and reaching out to something or someone inside the shop.
As Kenma finally noticed that there was in fact another person in the shop he watched you for a few moments waiting for you to notice him standing there, as the bell that went off when he entered seemed to have pulled you out of the trance you were in as you went around the area watering the plants and humming a tune as you went.
Waiting just a few more minutes and realising that you weren't going to notice him by yourself, Kenma cleared his throat to gain your attention. The sudden noise seemed to startle you as you dropped the watering can you were holding, the tin of the can making a loud noise once it hit the ground startling the both of you.
“Oh, I’m sorry I didn't hear you come in, please come this way.” You said, as you beckoned to him making your way to the desk located at the back of the store. The desk there fit right in, the light green wood paneling along it and the top counter being covered in flowers, plants, ribbons, and vases of all sorts really matched the entire energy that the shop gave off.
“Alright, is there anything that I can help you with today?” You asked, as you started to move things around on the counter in case he did in fact want your help.
“Yes, I would like your help. I am trying to find flowers for my friend so that he can give them to his date because he forgot about it and he needs to get ready.” Kenma answered back, quickly smacking himself mentaly for going on the long tangent of why he needed the flowers, when he could have just said that he would like some help.
“Well, do you know anything about your friend's date, because that would help in picking out the flowers.” You responded, as you made your way from behind the counter and to the aisles of plants.
“I know that they have a green thumb if that helps.” Kenma spoke out, as he looked around at all the different plants on the shelves. As he was looking his eyes fell back onto you, he couldn't help but admire the care on your face that you showed to each plant, and the way the sun danced off your face making you look like some kind of immortal being.
“So a potted plant would work better than a bouquet of flowers.” You commented, mostly to yourself as you made your way to the smaller plants.
Picking up some of the plants you finally settled on the orchids.
“I would suggest the orchids, they are temperamental plants and can be killed off easily if you are not careful, but if they enjoy gardening they would know how to take care of the flower.” You said calmly, moving out of Kenma’s way so that he could look at all the different orchids.
Finally settling on a purple orchid he brought it to the counter so that he could pay.
“Is that everything you need today?” You asked Kenma, as you started to ring him out. Kenma just shook his head and picked up the plant once you were done.
Thanking you for your help, Kenma quickly exited the shop and started making his way back home. As Kenma walked he couldn't seem to pull his mind away from the flower shop he had just been in, deciding then he knew he would have to go back there. He just hoped he could find an excuse for himself.
Over the few months since Kenma had first been into the shop he has come back on several different occasions each time buying another plant. And now his apartment was filled with over 20 different plants scattered around each room that he cared for diligently, and he totally didn't care for them so well because he thought of them as his and your plant babies.
Going to your shop for the third time in two weeks, Kenma had decided to finally ask you out on a date. He had the whole thing planned out, he just needed you to accept and it would all work out according to his plan, and if that plan did work the two of you would end up married, but back to focusing on just asking you out and not accidentally proposing to you.
Walking into the shop Kenma made the familiar path towards the back counter where he knew you were going to be.
“Oh Kenma, did your friend forget to pick up flowers for his date again? Because if he did I think he needs to start managing his time better.” You chuckled out your greeting, to the man who had constantly been coming in.
“No, I wanted to get flowers for someone I like.” Kenma replied, as he looked over the different kinds of flowers that you might like. With his back turned from you he wasn't able to see the slight falter in your smile at the fact that he liked someone.
Deciding on a bouquet of lilacs, he informed you on his decision. While you put the bouquet together, Kenma got a card for the bouquet and started to write out his confession, making sure to use the penmanship skills he had learned throughout his school career.
“Alright the bouquet is all done.” You said, while handing over the bouquet to Kenma. Kenma attached the note to the string you used to tie together the bouquet and the paper wrapped around the flowers.
You rang him out and started to go back to what you were doing before he came in, Kenma stood at the counter awkwardly as he tried to figure out a way to give you the bouquet. Finally coming up with some courage he coughed to gain your attention, this caused you to quickly turn to him as your face morphed into one of surprise.
“Kenma, is there anything else you need?” You questioned, obviously confused as to why he was still here.
“No, I just needed to give you these.” Kenma spoke quickly, handing the flowers over to you. He smiled as the processing look on your face turned into realisation and then the brightest smile he had ever seen broke out onto your face. You opened the note and quickly read it over, smiling at Kenma and nodding your head.
“I would love to go on a date with you.” You spoke out excitedly, putting the bouquet down to write out your phone number.
After the two of you had exchanged numbers and bid your goodbyes, Kenma made his way home so that he could start preparing for his date.

Kenma POV
The two of you decided to have your date the Saturday of that week, so as Kenma rushed around his apartment trying to make sure he had everything ready and that he looked presentable, he almost missed the chime coming from his phone.
‘Are we still meeting at the cafe, or do you want to meet somewhere else?’ you texted, Kenma quickly replied back telling you to meet him at the cafe.
With that text sent off Kenma looked over everything once again and headed out the door to meet you.
Arriving at the cafe Kenma wiped the palms of his hands across the fabric of his pants. Making his way into the cafe, he sent you a text saying that he arrived at the cafe and that he was going to grab a table for the two of you.
Kenma decided on a table beside the large window at the front of the shop, the table itself was surrounded by hanging pots filled with plants of all varieties soaking up the warm sunlight that glowed through the pink tinted glass of the cafe's windows.
Kenma jumped slightly as he felt someone had rested atop his own, looking up to who had pulled him out of his admiration of the decor he was met with a soft smile from you.
“I didn't mean to scare you, you just looked so cute lost in thought.” You giggled out, turning your head to look up at the waitress that had walked over to the orders of the two of you.
Kenma ordered a tea and a slice of their fresh apple pie, while you ordered a glass of raspberry passion fruit lemonade and a fruit salad to go along with your drink.
The date went smoothly and by the time Kenma and you had left the cafe he forgot why he was so worried about this date in the first place.
“Where are you taking me?” You gasped out, trying to suppress your giggles as Kenma began pulling you behind him leading the two of you to the location of the next part of the date.
Kenma finally slowed down slightly as his grip on your hand loosened, Kenma led the two of you inside the building. Once you were inside bright neon lights, the smell of popcorn and plastic met your noses, Kenma had dragged the two of you to his favorite arcade, not only did it have newer more modern games that he loved but it also had some very classic and retro arcade games that always stressed Kenma out because he could never figure them out.
“Alright where should we start?” Kenma asked, before he was pulled by you over to one of the many racing games the arcade had to offer.
“You ready to lose?” You yelled over to Kenma, who only returned the challenge with a cocky smile before turning to face the screen of the game.
After many games and many losses on your part both Kenma and you decided that it would be best if the two of you continued your date away from the arcade. Just as the two of you were making your way out Kenmas vision landed on something that he had seen in almost every romance movie he had ever seen, a claw machine. In that moment he knew he needed to win you something from it, anything from it he just needed to win you something.
“Alright, pick something and I can get it for you.” Kenma stated triumphantly, after dragging you over to the claw machine. He watched as you looked over the plush toys behind the glass of the machine and waited patiently for you to pick one that called to you. When you decided you pointed to the large reversible octopus plushie in the middle of the machine. Kenma had never been so determined to win a game in his life.
“Kenma if you can't get it, it's fine I don't need it.” You said, as you tried to persuade Kenma away from the game after many failed attempts at getting the toy, Kenma only squashed you and continued on with his round, and finally the octopus dropped down into the slot of the machine ready to be collected.
“Here you go, one octopus plushie.” Kenma said, as he handed the toy over to you with a gentle smile. You gave him a big smile back as you squeezed the toy in your arms. Kenma then gently took your hand into his and started leading you outside the arcade.
“I have one more place to take us, if you don’t mind?” Kenma asked, looking back at you for confirmation that you were still up to continuing the date. You nodded your head in confirmation and so Kenma led the two of you to the final location of your date.
The field that the two of you were in was beautiful. It was full of wildflowers that only bloomed in that specific region along with a few trees spread out across the field. Kenma and you settled down under one of the trees to watch as the sun started to disappear beyond the horizon.
“Today was really fun Kenma.” You spoke out, Kenma smiled at this and wrapped an arm around your waist pulling you slower to his side you leaned your head onto to his shoulder and shifted so that you were even closer to him than you were before.
“It was fun, we should do this again sometime.” Kenma respond.
“Is that your way of asking me on a second date?” You joked, as you lifted your head to look Kenma in the eyes.
“Maybe it is, is that your way of saying yes?” Kenma quipped back, leaning even closer to you.
“Ya it is my way of saying yes.” You whispered.
The peace shared between the two of you was nice and Kenma was more than happy that Kuroo could not keep track of his schedule.
