Did you start off pro black everyone and everything?
Yes and for a while now I’ve distanced myself from the pro-black label, and I now only consider myself pro-black women. Nearly every form of pro-black activism and movement is male-centered while the issues of black women are largely ignored if all the blame can’t be placed on white supremacy. Misogynoir is rampant in the black community especially amongst black men, and I see no reason to invest my time fighting for people who don’t go as hard for me.

I need y’alls help for real.
I have a mammogram in the morning (16MAR2017) which will cost me about $650 because my doctor thinks I may have a cancerous mass in my breast. I applied for ACA earlier this year, but because of the debate about repealing it, my application is marked as still “in progress” and I’m still at war with the VA to give me my veteran’s ID and coverage so I am currently paying all of my medical expenses out of pocket. I work 40 hours a week, but not enough to cover all of my expenses.
So if y’all could donate here and here that would be fantastic so I can stretch my coins out for the other medical expenses (including an upcoming breast biopsy also related to the cancer threat).

Why do you hate lightskins so much?
I don’t hate light skin people (do not refer to complexions as “_____skins”)
I hate the silence in the room when a dark skin girl is being bullied and light skin girls remain silent because those words aren’t geared towards them.
I hate the smiles when some ignorant ass dude says “I don’t date Black girls, only light skinned ones.”
I hate when positivity is geared towards dark skin in the heat of all the hate and people make dark skin positivity equivalent to light skin hate, which it’s not. Maybe because when light skin is being praised, dark skin is being slandered.
I hate when a dark skin girl has to have an A1 body with flawless ass skin and perfect teeth to get 100 notes on here while light skin girls can just hold a flower and get 34088 notes.
I hate that we have to be twice as pretty just to be considered average in society.
I hate that darker men and women get more prison time and less jobs.
I hate being 23 and still having to tell folks “You’re pretty for a dark skin girl” is not a compliment. I hate that I used to think that it was. I hate that I used to be flattered by that.
I hate that 90% of Black men’s misogyny is geared towards dark skin women.
I hate that every time dark skin women, men and children are being praised it’s in a condescending tone like “see, they aren’t all ugly.”
I hate that 95% of Black Hollywood is light skin and no one says shit but dark skin women get called jealous for calling out the lack of representation.
I hate that the only time light skin girls speak up is when they feel like they’re being attacked. So silent in the struggles of their dark sisters.
I hate that everyone likes to act like colorism isn’t a big deal but wouldn’t even take a check to be a dark skin person in this society.
I hate how much light skin people sound like White people defending racism when colorism is the topic. “Don’t you mean ALL Black girls…I have dark skinned friends….I don’t have any privilege, I’m still a nigger to White people…etc”
So no, I don’t hate light skin people, never will but I will not silence my experiences for your comfort. I will not pretend that Cardi, Zendaya and Amandla would be the it girls without their complexions.
Colorism is a real issue, a real struggle. So if it makes you uncomfortable, maybe your light skin privilege pants are zipped up a little too tight. Maybe you got too comfortable in the fact that you would always be picked first.
