One thing that will always get me heated is the erasure of Talia as Damian's parent and the pushing of Dick in her place. I just saw a tiktok and it was the "Don't ever hit one of my kids again" "Your kid? He's mine.." "Never Again" dialogue.
Don't piss me off. Ra's Al Ghul is right there, and you chose to use Talia??

Hot Take
Marvel Comics has completely ruined Laura Kinney and made her more or less unusable.
The original Laura was basically killed off via fridging with Talon in a horrible story that fans hated. The “Copy” is just a Wolverine clone, complete with full adamantium skeleton and bad Percy writing…
The “soft reboot” via Erika Shultz was disappointing and poorly met by fans. Tamaki’s “X-23” was similarly disappointing.
Her only villain is dead and was comically bad under Shultz’s recent writing anyway.
Where I used to pick up any book with Laura, good or bad, now I can’t be bothered to care because there isn’t any writer that’s doing anything remotely interesting.
As bad as things were with Bendis and Hopeless…Taylor was at least salvageable.
I just feel like Laura is completely unrecognizable at this point and just frankly…don’t even really enjoy the character anymore.
I just don’t see how Marvel can fix “the Laura Problem” at this point 😒.

I’ve been trying to avoid the newest X-men comics lately, because I am not a fan of the krakoan era. I think they could have done something really cool with it but they only succeeded in fucking to their characters. But I just found out that the killed fucking Daken?!? First you don’t give him an adequate ending to his character arc so he just all of a sudden has a good relationship with his father for no reason (I would be fine with them patching it up but it would take time and effort because of all the pain and betrayal there) and then they fucking kill him to further his FATHERS character arc like they always do. I love Wolverine so much, I might be his biggest fan, but other characters(especially the people he loves) are constantly being killed and tortured in the comics as a means to an end in his story. Not to mention the whole fucking talon fiasco. I’m sick and tired of writers giving Laura love interests that she has never interacted with and make her nothing more than their girlfriend. She’s spent her whole life being a living weapon, owned and controlled by men, it just leaves a bad taste in my mouth idk. (And no this isn’t just because I ship Laura/sooraya or Laura/jubilee). And now that they’ve killed talon, the “normal aged Laura is a fucking clone of her. I just hate this. Can X-men writers calm the fuck down man? They all need to leave the Wolverine family alone and treat them better. They’ve all been through so much they deserve better. This is just the tip of the iceberg of my opinions though, I have many thoughts on the krakoan era in relation to many characters, especially nightcrawler, but that’s a post for another day.

would you want the talia to be free of all bad action, do you prefer when she was an anti hero? what about when she didn’t like killing?
do you like the al ghuls as villains or do you feel the need to make them as nice as possible?
(i got reprimanded earlier for saying i didnt like talia giving damian up for adoption and prefered her raising him in the league but… someone got upset at me like i don’t know how else to explain to people that i like when characters especially grey ones do bad as much as they do good but thats just me, its not like i dont read the comics or wtv)
I don't know how long this has been in my ask box because I didn't see a notification for it, I apologize.
I'm going to address the problem with the person reprimanding you. There's always going to be someone that disagrees with you and Talia's character.
People will complain she raised him in the league then they'll complain she gave him up for adoption. There's no winning. I know we all wish that Damian was raised like Tallant Wayne but unfortunately that's not the case.
In a way I do wish Talia was free from all bad actions and I do like when she's an anti hero. Let me explain my perspective. Pre-Morrison Talia was Med school student who was a spy for her father. This Talia was sassy and emotional and you could see most good or bad things she did was based on how she felt.
Killing the villain who was about to kill Bruce caused her to breakdown crying. Choosing to do things like knock out a man with anesthetic was done because of her feelings of loyalty towards father. Everything that was bad was done in loyalty to her father. She hates doing bad things but she's loyal to her father.
I do wish Talia was free from some bad actions (yk the racist writings). I miss when it was heavily showed that Talia hates killing. I understand when she killed certain people (Slade...) but I wish she had a little monologue about how she hates killing but it had to be done. Or she hates killing but she hates Slade more.
I hate that modern depictions of Talia are so ready to kill, and especially if that person's Bruce. Talia's old character was happy at times but dare I say overall depressed....
I miss when writers showed her crying now she's stone cold trying to kill Batman.
In terms of the Al Ghuls being villains. I love Ra's as a villain but I don't like Talia and Damian as villains. Ra's is a good villain, even though I like him as a villain I don't like him as an abusive father and grandfather. I hate Ra's but he wouldn't lock Damian in a box in the desert without food and water for a week. That is not Ra's Al Ghul, he hates the world but he doesn't hate his family. I also hate that it's canon that he punishes Talia.
Ra's Al Ghul is a villain, in my opinion Batman's best villain. But writers get his character wrong...like really really wrong. At first they wrote that he fought against Nazis then to give Nyssa Al Ghul some trauma. They changed it and made him fight with the Nazis and leave Nyssa in a concentration camp. It doesn't make sense Ra's hates Nazis.
I hate Nyssa Al Ghul, she is a villain. Her character ruined a part of Ra's character and she tortured Talia. Like if you hate Ra's torture him, don't torture the girl who was born 100s of years later.
What I'm saying is some of the Al Ghuls are villains and some are not. And prefer the diversity and challenge in their family.

RAHH this is such a good interpretation omggg tbh u feel kinda dumb bc I never rlly understood why cass let the man die but this makes so much sense
That issue of Batgirl (2000) where Cass goes to immense trouble to rescue a death row inmate who she and we know is truly guilty of killing an innocent woman, breaking into prison, fighting the guards, shattering the wall of the execution chamber and taking him outside, because her core principle is that nobody dies if she can help it. No matter what they’ve done. It’s been established that she has a crippling guilt complex about taking a life. To her, her being an abused child who had no way of knowing it was wrong and didn’t even understand the concept of death at the time is as irrelevant as her victim being a crime lord. She is a Murderer. She turned a person full of thought and feeling into nothing. That’s her ultimate definition of wrong. So she needs to save this Murderer and give him the second chance she’s been given; she needs him to deserve it. She needs him to be more than his worst action. The man does appear to be repentant and mean no further harm.
But then the mother of the victim tells her that he deserves to become nothing. No matter how much he’s changed. He destroyed her little girl. And after all the effort she put in, despite her intense emotional investment and absolute reverence of life, Cass lets him die when she doesn’t have to. Something nothing else could ever make her do. Because she is a Murderer… but she was also a Destroyed Little Girl.
