The Fool // The Lovers // The Emperor

A collaboration with @lil--nuggett. We asked ourselves. What if these two were Tarot cards? What would they be? And here they are.

I did the card art while nugget did the borders. It was super fun to work on!

Descriptions of the cards and symbolism below!

The Fool.

Upright, the fool represents new beginnings and spontaneity or a leap of faith. While in reverse it can represent naivety, folly, and poor judgement.

The Emperor

Upright, the Emperor represents authority and leadership or a father figure. But in reverse it can read as a control freak or a loss of authority.

The Lovers

Upright, the Lovers represent, well, partnerships and falling in love, but they also represents crossroads and choices. In reverse, the Lovers can be read as disharmony or imbalance, but also as romantic trouble. Moreover, in this card Nugget and I decided to give their offerings to one another meaning. Maxie is giving Archie an apple, a fruit associated with knowledge, while Archie is giving Maxie a white rose, a rose that symbolizes young love and innocence. In short, Maxie is telling Archie to "get a brain" while Archie is telling Maxie to "have a heart."
