her new ribbon is everything!! This girl is such an incredible natural performer, she can perform to anything, she sells it AND she lives it. Its really quite amazing. RG doesn’t gets many gymnasts like that anymore. The last true performer was Alina Maksymenko imo.

On this interview @ 24:36 http://bnt.bg/predavanyia/bnt2-novini/ba-lgariya-19-30-327 Mateva herself is calling BS on all of this. She says she trains more than the others and has a training diary to prove it. Raeva says that Mateva can’t be overworked, Mateva says she doesn’t agree with them and that she can withstand the training load just fine, she is fine. then finally Raeva says she doesn’t wants to see Maria end her career on a bad note (falling etc).

Also I just read on FB that the girls of that lovely Bulgarian junior team from 2013 (look up their 2013 hoops routine, its absolutely wonderful) were all sent home because of injury” and that now each one of them is at their respective clubs recovering..

According to this article and this post on Facebook, Mariya Mateva has retired. It’s been stated she had a bad injury and her condition couldn’t allow her to continue the professional gymnastics career. Mariya has been eliminated from the team due to her inability to peform on a proper level because of the health issues.

I will truly miss this talented gymnast. It was a tough burden for her to replace Silviya Miteva as Bulgarian No.1 in 2014. She tried her best and showed some really great and original choreography and skills. Mariya’s ball to “The Great Gatsby“ soundtrack will always be one of my favourites. And her fierce hoop routines? Outstanding!

It was heartbreaking to realize she wouldn’t take part in Rio Olympics. And now it is heartbreaking to realize she won’t compete at all. Mariya may not have such a big fanbase, but those who recognized her talent and cheered for her regardless of the result will really miss her.

I wish her good luck and, of course, good health!

I honestly don’t know if they just don’t see they need new blood or if their answer to all that was having Ireesha becoming a part of the training staff? But well, what can you expect from people that one said Bessonova was way too mature for all existing kind of music.
