a thin smile pulled on the girl’s mouth as eira surveyed the large gash she had gotten across her forearm . áine hissed despite the woman’s gentle touch , as the wound was still red and tender . ❛❛ i was helping my father walk , ❜❜ she explained slowly . ❛❛ he slipped and was too heavy for me to catch by myself , so i fell with him and caught my arm on a branch . ❜❜
the girl chucked at eira’s joke , squeezing her hand in a fist . ❛❛ if the bad news is that it will always feel like this , then i am not so keen on the good news , ❜❜ she returned with a soft smile . in truth , the pain was not bad , but it was on the inside of her arm and often brushed against things while she was working . it was more of an annoyance .
“how on earth did you manage to do this, mm?” the healer surveyed their injury with a calm albeit playful smile gracing her lips. naturally, it was non life-threatening. perhaps in need of salve and bandage alone. eira’s fingers were careful with their outstretched limb. a delicate touch afforded to few. “the good news is: you’ll live. i’ve yet to decide the bad news,” she said through a smile, sharp eyes lifting to meet theirs.

❛ if i go through the thick trees plucking berries or nuts , taking apples from branches or herding the cows , and if i stretch out beneath a tree for a while in repose . . . what does it matter to those it doesn’t concern ? ❜
( ooc . hello !! i am cookie ( or on discord i’m pickle , so do not be alarmed ! ) and i am VERY excited to join this rp ! feel free to like this if you’d like to plot something out or if you’d like to talk ! also disclaimer : this is a BIG wip . )
YOUNGER YEARS :
áine was born in a small town near belfast , ireland , on a wet summer night . her mother and father had married nearly twelve years prior , and both had been praying day in and day out for a healthy child . they had wanted a large family when they had married , but after years of trying they were desperate for even one child . her father had originally been from england from a somewhat wealthy family , but upon following his father to ireland he had fallen for her mother and spent all of the money he had been given on purchasing land to stay and win her over .
pleased to have been blessed with a child , her parents raised her as a christian , unwilling to appear unthankful to the LORD . she grew up helping her mother with household chores , and helping her father tend the sheep . she was a wild child , half feral some joked , but she was always obedient to her father . her favorite thing to do was to be outside , running and playing from sun rise to sun down . she loved to watch the sheep , and to spend time with her father . the beginning of her life was idyllic , and she had wished for nothing to change .
time moves on , however , and shortly after her eleventh birthday her mother fell ill . it started slow , with a few coughs a day that the woman often shrugged off . the coughing grew worse and her mother grew more and more ill . áine began to stay inside more often to help with her mother’s chores . within five years , her mother passed away and her father grew sullen and quiet .
CURRENTLY :
→ after her mother’s death , áine’s chores included taking care of the home , cooking , and occasionally helping her father with the animals . she hated this , as she longed to be outside with the animals rather than stuck inside , but she felt she had a duty to take care of her father . family is the most important thing to áine .
→ she knew that most likely her life was planned out for her from that point on . she thought her fate was to marry a boy from their town , take care of the house , have children , and take care of her father . she loathed this entirely , but again felt as though that the older her father got , the more she wanted him to know that she would be in a good standing when he would pass on . there was talk of her marrying a boy , cean , but nothing ever came of the talks .
→ about year prior to the events of the rp , a fierce storm hit her town and nearly demolished the barn . most of the sheep escaped , and while her father went out to inspect the damage he slipped and broke his leg . the leg was not set properly , so he became completely unable to care for the farm and has trouble walking long distances .
→ her father tried to contact his family for help , but the only people who offered to help were some distant cousins of his . they offered to let him and áine live and work on their farm so long as she worked for them . her father reluctantly sold his land and they moved to england .
