estrella slipped a bookmark between page 266 and 277 of the text they were reading and then turned to face ludvig. they cocked an eyebrow and looked at the bag. “i actually enjoy black licorice, despite its dangers. ” they reached into the bag, took one out, and popped it into their mouth. “ actually, if someone over the age of forty eats two ounces of black licorice a day for at least two weeks,  they could end up in the hospital with an irregular heart rhythm or arrhythmia. ”

❛ så fucking roligt, elias. din jävla idiot. ❜ they laughed to themselves, the open package in front of them revealing delights from their homeland ( which they absolutely despised with all their might. ) shaking their head, ludvig opened the bag of black licorice and stuffed a few into their mouth, grimacing when they felt the sour and bitter taste on their tongue. ❛ repulsive. you want this ?? i will legit pay you to eat it. my brother thought he was being funny by sending me shit i hate. ❜

they looked at the profile and narrowed their eyes at the picture. “ a hard nay. look at that. ” estrella pointed their finger at a small poster in the background of the photo. “ trump supporter. i can’t believe you almost went for that. ”

“Okay, I need your honest opinion here.” Jill spoke, turning his phone towards the other to reveal the Tinder profile he had been staring at for the past minute. “Yay or nay?

estrella’s eyes lit up. “ oh yes, absolutely ! gosh, it’s been a bit since i’ve done a marathon. i don’t think that i’ve ever marathoned harry potter before, either. sounds like a good time. ”

“So, it’s been a good two years since I watched through all the Harry Potters… do you want to join me? Or maybe we can watch something else. We could watch all the way through some Friends seasons too if you want, I’m just in desperate need for a tv binge.”

they shook their head. “ hey, it’s no problem. there’s this absolutely wonderful coffee shop around the corner. it’s pretty cheap too. i can show you the way ? ”

“Sorry to bother you,” Eli started hesitantly, swallowing before speaking again, “when I look for a coffee place on my phone, it’s only showing the ones across campus… do you know if there are any closer ones? I’m afraid I’m still a bit jetlagged.”

“ it’s air conditioned in there. ” they jerked their thumb behind them, referring to a small ice cream shop. “ heard they have delicious frozen treats. i was planning to go there anyway, if you’d like to come with ? ”

“It is hotter than hell outside, I hate it!”

oh dear. estrella waved the comment away and offered the girl a smile. “ it’s fine, don’t worry about it. here, let me help you. ” they bent down and grabbed a few things for her. “ do you need help carrying these somewhere? you looked like you were struggling there. i’m not doing much now so i can totally help out. ”

It was ridiculous how many things Mahalia could actually cayry in her arms. Enjoying her alone time, Mahalia decided to draw some things, with the piece and quiet of the campus’ grounds — which ended with her carrying more things than she could handle back to her dorm. As someone walked by her, bumping into her out of nowhere, almost every thing fell from her arms and she let out a frustrated groan. “Asshole.” The girl spoke, loud enough for the next person to hear but not loud enough for the actual culprit to look back. Letting out a sigh, Lia looked at the person that had been walking by. “Not you. Sorry.”

estrella had been casually reading about the mechanics of plant photosynthesis ( like they hadn’t already memorized it by heart. they could recite it in their sleep ) when they were not-rudely interrupted by a large flower. es laughed a bit as they trained their gaze up at lex. “ you look like snow white, you know that, right ? also, i’m getting ahead on school work for next year. ”

“estrellaaaaa,” alexia sing songs as she waves the flower she’d been given in front of their face. “we’re on vacation and you’re reading a text book? that’s not acceptable. i demand you come have fun with me.”

a roll of their eyes, but a smile lingers on their lips. “ well, last time we did this was last week, at the restaurant around the corner. alright, how about twenty-three? that works right? ” estrella didn’t quite enjoy doing this, as scamming wasn’t something they encouraged, but hey, if it meant free dessert, then they were all for it.

“So I might have told the waiter it was your birthday, Ryan so they would give us free food. Or well I hope they are giving us free food.” Cait said, eyeing the waiter coming over with cake and candles. “Go along with it or else we’re paying for this.”

on the wall in front of them, there were many white sheets of printer paper taped to the surface. the entire wall would have been completely whited-out, if not for the messily scrawled handwriting in different colors that was scattered across the pages. “ ryan, ” the name was spoken with a hint of bitterness, though mostly exasperation. estrella took a moment to turn around and throw the green inked pen at his face. “ shut up. ” before turning back around to the notes on the wall. less than 24 hours before their last final and they were getting restless. “ don’t ‘i’ve done nothing wrong’ me, young man. you stole a car ”
