They are in the middle of a war. The world may or may not end. They may or may not die. They don’t exactly have the time for a sentimental, slow moment. This is a now or never situation essentially. It's raw and unplanned and intense.

Vi is tired. Her whole life, the responsibility for her family has fallen on her shoulders. She tries again and again to protect them and she fails. Each time, she loses someone. She has never cared for herself and doesn’t know how to—that was very evident in Act II. People don’t stand by her. They leave when she falls short of expectations, either willingly or through death or something else traumatic for her. So when Cait pretty much tells her, “I knew what you were going to do because I know YOU and I stand by your decision. You’re not wrong. This is me apologizing,” Vi doesn’t know what to do except fall right into her. She’s doing something she wants for once, something she’s wanted for a while but has been consistently held back from, the rest of the world be damned. Someone actually stays with her for once (and yes that someone fucked up before and left, but Vi, as we know, has a huge heart, and she catches a glimpse of the woman she caught feelings for in the beginning) and Vi wants to hold onto that as much as she can, without having to think about it at all. And she's greedy about it. Make all the top/bottom jokes you want, but Vi needed to take control in this scene to assert her greediness. Fuck the world—it can wait because she's done trying to please it. She's going to take and do what she wants from now on.

Arcane has never been about perfection. It’s messy and doesn’t make sense but that’s what makes it human. Their scene together is about as authentic as it can get for them—those are their true characters, and they make each other happy. So yeah, they have sex in the cell that kept her sister, who escaped and trapped vi in to keep her from following. it's fucked up if you choose to see it in the lens that vi is supposed to always put her sister first and not think about herself for one second.

the rage of princess shuri

very few character arcs have been as substantive and transformative as the arc given to shuri in wakanda forever. and what makes it so powerful is her undeniable rage.

shuri angry. at herself, at the ancestors, at the world. and there’s so much range in her anger. it’s cold and dismissive to her mother’s faith in the spiritual. it’s painful and untethering to herself and her beliefs. it’s hot and all consuming towards namor and the harm he causes.

and then with how mythical and fairytale-esque wakanda forever is in general. shuri plays with the princess archetype and instead almost becomes a vengeful goddess. eternal war was one death away. it just happens that the person she longed to kill was her mirror image.

a black heroine having the space to transform, rebirth by fire and fury, was an experience. i don’t really know how to put it into words.

“Is my mother’s life not worth eternal war?”

that might be one of the most heartbreaking, and relatable lines in the mcu. grief and anger crystallised into one question.

me: namor is a representation about how white colonialism and the visceral reactions to it separate black and brown people through violence. the movie ending with a partnership between him and shuri is a symbol that, violent or not, bipoc can overcome neocolonialism and war when they work together with philosophies like Pan-Africanism and Pan-Latinism - showing each other mercy while being willing to defend each other from violent acts of white supremacy

Am I the only one who doesn’t have a problem with how Rick set up the hunters. Ok so I have a post on Reyna and I’m going to address that later but as a lesbian I personally feel no ways about how the Hunters are set up. The whole point is that any romance is forbidden. That means that regardless of what your sexuality is if you become romantically involved with anyone you have to leave. It would be bad if Artemis punished Them for being together but she didn’t, she said ok be happy together but this is not the space for that. You all are completely vilifying something that has been consistent through the whole series. Also stop leaving out Lavinia because regardless if she’s a background character or not she is a LESBIAN who turned down Artemis be she had a GIRLFRIEND. The understanding is that if you are a Hunter romance is off the table for everyone. This has nothing to do with sexuality and everything to do with the Hunters being a safe space for no romance which frankly is what Reyna needs. She’s been on this rollercoster trying to figure out her love life and the Hunters is a great break from that. She can be free and just have friends with a bunch of women from all different time periods, species, ages, sexuality and races. The hunters are definitely coded queer and I won’t deny that but it not a space to find love of be in love. It’s a bond of friendship even sisterhood. If romance happens to be what you want then it means it’s your time to move on and that what happen with Jo and her wife. They had been hunters for years and the found that they wanted love and it happens to be with one another. As far as we know the hunters may still even like them. You all need to re-evaluate why you feeel and think that the Hunters are so wrong when this is nothing new. It’s been said time and time again that ther is no romace what so ever in the Hunt and if you have a problem with that then that is not a space for you. It’s a space for people who resonate with that whether it’s long term, short term or indefinite.

First off: I want to make it abundantly clear that I am not trying to talk people out of their interpretations of Reyna. I just…think she’s a lesbian, and think there’s a lot of textual backing to support me. My word isn’t gospel and a lot of these passages are subjective, and I am well aware that there is room for disagreement. But I figured it was about time to lay out why I feel so strongly the way I do, and what subtext I keep referring to when I’m making other points, especially after being asked!

Bonnie Bennett

I'm just gonna rant here real quick

Bonnie was an amazing witch who was protective and sooooo selfless when it came to those other characters on that damn show. She didn't bully people and when she was left all by herself to figure out life, she did. She was so strong she wasn't able to be vulnerable all throughout that damn show. She should have been the most powerful character that should not have been fucked with buy in turn she was always the last to be considered when it came down to it. And in the end, they killed all her family and her friends got to live happy lives. And to top it off, the man that she wanted a life with, kids and to build a home with they killed him off.. I was so upset at how dirty they did her. Honestly they made her a plot pushing character and even the fucking "oRiGinals" had more info and background than she and her ancestors did. I wanted to know muuuch more about the black witches who were protectors of nature. But naaaaaaww we got more back story on the originals who nobody was able to even kill! Or put down for that matter. I'm just irritated with the sloppy writing that they had going on for her. And dont eeeeeeeven get me fucking started on the weaves that they gave her or the shitty outfits they put her in for most of the show. Kat Graham is a beautiful woman, they could have had her utilize it but of course her beauty would have overshadowed the other girls and they couldnt have that now could they? And Now I look through her tag HOPING that I could catch gifs of her and enzo or just her to revel in how much of a wonderful witch she was and her tag is full of ALL THR OTHER MFs WHO HAVE HAD MORE THAN ENOUGH SCREEN TIME! My take on Reyna Avila Ramirez Arellano in the Tyrants Tomb (SPOILERS)

Let me just say this, I don’t care who feel offended by what I am about to say.  YA’LL ARE BUTT HURT FOR NO DANM REASON AND TRYING TO USE REYNA AS A WAY TO PUSH YOU OWN PERSONAL FEELINGS ONTO THE FANDOM.

Now that I siad that lets discuss....

I love Reyna, I think she was amzing when she was intorduced. I loved her develoment in HOO and i defintly love the big sister roll she took on with Nico. She became one of if not my favorite roman characters. Also by seeing her in the present and hearing about her past reyna had one of the most well written backstories of the romans. yes their are plot holes but thats with any universe, especially one this big, with this many characters and books. Its not easy keeping everything stragight espcially with timelines.

Reyna as a person was shown as strong willed, responsible, and serious. But ya’ll seem to forget that she was all these things because she was FIGHTING A WAR. we have never really seen reyna in a not stressful situation. Traveling cross country with a statue, figing off dead ex hunters, stratagy planning, fighting in wars and min battles, Reyna has never had any time to show us her personality outside a war setting. Ya’ll just assumed she was serious all the time and it couldnt be fathomed that she was actulaal a 16 year old, whos mutil-facitied.

Now let me be clear I was a very much an advid THEYNA shipper and i wanted her to be gay. I read her as gay because that what I WANTED. In no way shape or form was Reyna canonically lesbian. 

She had 2 romance arcs with Percy and Jason and then nothing. That is what was written everything else was made up because the fanom wanted everyone to be paired up. Percy and Annabeth are the only ship whos premise made sense and wasn’t rushed. It makes sense why they lasted so long because they had time to like each other. Piper and Jason was rushed and built on lies, Calypso and Leo out of left field, Will and Nico, it was like boom ya’ll together now after coming out/forced out mind you i’m from a time where being gay was would have gotten you killd and nobdy would care, Frank and Hazel was just who was left and not together. Thalia can’t be in a relationship because she a hunter and so reyna was left.

Akso, Thalia made the choice to be a hunter to keep the great prophcay from happing but she stayed a hunter because she liked it. Why would she give it up if she never felt like she belonged at camp. The hunters are her home so i doubt she would just drop that for Reyna.

Also GIRLS CAN BE GAY AND BE JUST FIRENDS. Whether or not Reyna and Thalia are gay canonically doesnt matter because you need to accept their friendship as just that a friendship. STOP SAYING SHE ACE/ARO it would be great if she was but being a hunter doesn’t mean shes now a completly different orentation. She just wants a break from beig in charge.

Did it ever occur that her and Thalia being pen-pals ment that shes talked to her alot about joining. Did you just skip over that line, maybe reyna had been wanting to leave since the last war but couldn’t due to all this stuff with the roman empors starting. She felt needed and now that New Rome is safe she feels she can let of and be Reyna, not the Preator. 

Ya’ll saying its OOC for her to laugh as something so utterly ridiculous is plain dumb. Ya’ll just not use to seeing reyna happy, genually happy and not so serious. Characters can be happy and use slang and be relaxed and still be them. This is who Reyna is without someone trying to kill her. Its how Percy is quite, Annabeth reads alot, Frank is Shy, Hazel is Akward, Thalia makes jokes, Leo is anxious, Piper is uncomfortable, Nico is sarcastic, thease are traits shown when they arent figting for their lives or the lives of others. Reyna seems to be an actually chill relax, goofy person. She seems to know when to play and when not to and with Thalia she’s comfotable to be herself.

I say all this to say Stop using you own perosnal feelings to ruin a charter becaue she not waht you would have wanted. As a black lesbian women I would love for a book to have a young person of color be a main character in my faviortie series. But i will not force my wanst on who she is.

Why are Percy and Annabeth in California during June?

Are they visiting Annabeth’s family?    Possibly??

Are they visiting colleges?    Doesn’t line up because they would have graduated by then and have committed to a college already.

So are they at Camp Jupiter? And why??    It could just be that they’re already moving there for college. But June is way too early for that. And I’m a firm believer that if they’re trying to live a normal life they’d never attend college in New Rome, despite what Percy says in THO.

So naturally, I assumed it had something to do with Jason because on the phone call Magnus said Annabeth sounded like she’d been crying, but Ship of the Dead ends in mid-June. Jason died in late March, early April. That’s a three month gap. Now I’ve seen all these theories that say Annabeth and Percy wouldn’t know about Jason until later because of the lack of communication between demigods and the two camps.

BUT consider this:

Annabeth has a cell phone. Something as important as Jason dying certainly would warrant a quick phone call. Other than Jason, Annabeth was Piper’s closest friend. She’s the one Piper first confided her mixed emotions and confusion about Jason too back in TLH. Phone calls are dangerous, but not impossible. So even if Piper isn’t the one to break the news, someone else like Leo, Frank, Hazel, or Reyna probably would.

Nico probably FELT JASON���S DEATH. Nico’s at camp year round and obviously, this news is gonna spread around like wildfire. And once again, even if Percy and Annabeth aren’t at camp, this is pretty big news and Nico would probably show up at the Jackson’s house to let them know.

Also I would like to remind you all that in Percy Jackson’s Greek Heroes, Percy says the Seven have a tradition of monthly Argo II reunion parties. So obviously they have a way of communication with each other to organize this, and the death of one of them is certainly something that would come up during a reunion???

This is the most compelling point, so listen up cupcakes. The Tyrant’s Tomb is leading up to Lester’s birthday, April 8. I repeat, The Tyrant’s Tomb and the The Tower of Nero will take place in April. Two months before Percy and Annabeth are in California for unknown reasons. But there’s more. During Rick’s Tour of Doom, he revealed that the final book will take Lester and Meg back to Camp Half-Blood. He mentioned that Nico and Will will play big roles again, but nothing about Percy or Annabeth. So even if news of Jason’s death hadn’t reached CHB by then, it certainly will with Lester’s arrival. And while Percabeth may be focused on school right now, I refuse to believe that in the time between April and June they haven’t been back to Camp and no one has delivered the news. It just seems impossible, even if they are occupied with school and hekping Magnus out. Especially if you consider than by early June they should be back at CHB.

Now, if TOA is ending in April at CHB, why are Percy and Annabeth at Camp Jupiter in the middle of June, shaken up by bad news?

And what is the bad news? Because it makes no sense for it to be about Jason.

The Tyrants Tomb SPOILERS AHEAD!!!! Pt.2 Storyline

ok so here’s my review on the overal story of tyrants tomb in the PJO universe. I will only be focusing on Apollo and his impact on the story, the other parts will be on other characters.

Overall the book touches on family, emotional abuse, manipulation, death, greif. This book had a lot of mature theames that unless you’ve had experience with them kids wouldnt recogonized it but lets face it, the PJO fandom has grown up, im 20 and started the journey at 12, so to see these things in a childrens book i was taken back. The writing was perfect to relay the messages without being too graphic and just triggering for the sake of triggering.

Since the last time we saw Apollo and Meg they were on thier way by plane to take Jason back to Rome for a proper burial. If i’m being honest the way Rick strated the book definaty gave me chills, becaues tho I’ve had a year to proecess Jasons death it still was unreal until a monster was trying to eat him. 

I also think the insights we get on Apollo and his guilt about Jasons death is extremely improtant ot the overall plot of the book. The book primary focus as you read on is based in Apollos developing humanity and conscience. Where as the other books focused on the stroy and the adventure this one is about the emotions, the feelings, the perals of war and its effects on the charaters who are directley and indirectly involved.

One thing that rick does well is giving us a decent timeline for the events that happen. This entierbook takes place in a about a week. From the moment Apollo and meg get to CJ the clock starts. I often get so into the story becaue it feels so long but in actuallity the writing was just that good.

Most of the book is very dialog heavey, their was action in the beginning but Apollo spends most of the time recovering from the first fight. I felt that it was ok but dragging alot. This made me think thst everything going on is setting up for the final battle.

My faviorite scene is when Apollo almost dies and he has accepted his fate, He was willing to die for the campers and he did everything he possible could to keep them safe. Wiht that being said Artemis showing up and saving him, also admitting to caring about him, made me so happy. Her saving apollo and his reaction is just that he missed her. Not once was he jealouse or vindictive about her getting the prasie. Apollo missed his siter and that was a very pure moment. 

The next scene that really gave impact was Apollo, Reyna, and Meg, fighitng on the tower, and Apollo is just going through all of his wrign doings. Between teasing the silent god, curining syibl, and creating ravens, I enjoyed how reyna nad Meg reacted so swift. Especially becasue Apollo was willing to sacrfice himself so quickly because he knows he’s wrong.

Now I could go on forever so i will be doing seperate post on Reyna, Frank, Meg, and Hazel, and thier involvment on the story.

The Tyrants Tomb SOPILERS AHEAD!!!! Pt.1 Characters

Ok so here I’m going to review the tryans tomb which I finished last night, it was a wild ride. So being that it took Rick a whole year to realese the new book after magnus chace ended I totally forgot the story but the pain of jasons death was very evident in my reading. Ok let me strat wiith charaters. 

Apollo has truly grown from the first book. He has consistantly shown empathy, remores, guilt and compassion in ways I didn’t think would happen. As this books progerees apollo become more and more selfless and starts to reconized how much he messed up as a god. Him re-visining every person hes wronged, watching campers die, and being helpless has ben shown as a gradual build up. He takes all of his experience seriously and that is what makes the difference. 

Now that his powers are returing he’s actually not excited or bostrous about it. He wants to help the demigods, protect them, and truly be thier family more then he wants to be a god again. Only the final book can tell wether or not that would actually happen but I have hope that Apollo will continue to grow in his humanity.

Reyna was ok. I feel like every time we see her the only thing that rick focuses on is her curse, that is very confusing. Like I totally don’t even remember when all of it took place let alone its relevence. Though I wiil say this, the development that we did see was impactful to the overall message of the plot.I really liked how she stoped being so serious and truly showed who she could be. Learning about her friendship with thalia and just how sweet it was made me fell like reyna was a real person andnot just this side charcter who sometimes has feelings. 

Laviana was awesome I loved how she was introduced and also known to be the complete oposite of  a roman solider. She was carefee and very much a individual which was a great addition because most roman characters we know are very ridged and uptight. Also, shes a lesian and i loved every minute of it becaue she was me and I was she. I felt the artistic lesbian cool vibe and it made smile throuout the book.

Meg was so much more in this book, I felt that before she was just like this side main character due to the fact that rick wants to address everything thats happend after the war and so she didnt get so much spotlight in the way she did in this book. We see how she cares about apollo and how much she is healing frm nero and growing as a hero in her own right. I love meg and the unicorns.

Don the Fawn, I felt bad that he died, and espcially they way. I really think this book is doing what HOO didnt in how its actually showing the perils of war. Dons death was sensless and unessacasry but also criticly to show how apollo is now understaning what it truly means to be mortal. I actually felt a pang when i read apollos reaction but I also understand where rick was going with this.

Tyson and Ella are adorbale together. They played a huge role in this book and i feel that we got to see more into who they are and not just treated as side charcates the fandom finds cute. I like how we got to see how thier dynamic as people and as friends. they truly have grown.
