Garden Greenery
Today I have a garden! After work last night, I went into the local Big-Box hardware store to do some research on plant options. I ended up grabbing a trolley and filling it up with 15 various plants! Most were around $10-$14 each. Criteria for my selection – Australian native, full sun, low water/drought tolerant once established, frost tolerant, suit sandy well drained soil. Colourful flowers…

Breakfast Buddies
My back yard – Before. Now prioritising my tasks by what brings me the most joy, so I took the rather tall and ordinary corrugated iron back fence down late last week and replaced it with a chicken-wire fence, to open up my little yard to the wonders beyond. What a difference! More sunlight, a lovely private view to open space, and more wildlife! After replacing the fence. I’ve enjoyed…

Old School Glass
I’ve been experimenting with a vintage lens I acquired with an OM2 film camera, and an OM to M34 lens adapter – both purchased from the tip shop – strapped to my favorite ever camera, the Olympus Pen-F. Mmm, both could do with a dust! lol. Taken with my phone. The following images are jpegs straight from the camera, absolutely uncropped and unedited except for size reduction and watermark. – I…

Dancing in the Darkness
What a week or two. From being on a happy high for two months and as great as life is for me, the sunny times turned a little dark in my head. But I’m not here to bring you down, I’m much better now. I have more clarity and less baggage than before. I had expected another low eventually and turned it into a positive learning experience, though I did have my struggles at times. I’m here to bring…

Sunset Stroll
After a busy day in the garden, I headed to the beach before dinner and was treated to a beautiful evolving display of colour as Carlton turned it’s back on the sun for the evening. These photos are in the order taken. Magic. Can’t be real.

Betty's Beach house
I hope you’re up for a personalised tour around my new home! I’ve been settling in here two months, I took these pics today. Some things have been done from my massive job list, but still lots of work to do! The house was built in 1980 and though in good solid condition, general maintenance has been neglected. Most of it is cosmetic and more time consuming rather than expensive and difficult.…

Sea Change
Wow! It’s been 5 months since I last posted … miss me?I’ll make this a big one to make up 😀 What an adventure! Snakes if you remember, sickness, Christmas, house hunting, living with a mate and eventually moving from the forested foothills of kunanyi / Mt Wellington that I’ve called home for around 30 years, to the sleepy seaside suburb of … Carlton – in my new beach house, just 300m from the…

Tasmanian Tiger Snake
So, lets start off with a bird. This is a Black Currawong (S. fuliginosa). It is a highly intelligent bird related closer to the magpie, rather than the Raven or Crow family. They have a lovely diverse range of calls. While concentrating on taking photos only feet away from Tickles the Tigersnake, this bird, seemingly from nowhere, dropped out of the sky and landed on a fence post a few feet…

Guess Who's Back?
Back again … And it’s not Slim Shady! It’s Little Miss Tickles!!! 😀 So, we had Tickles the Tasmanian Tiger Snake “relocated” last week, not sure where he dropped her off, but it took her 8 days to get back home! She clearly likes it here, or likes me 😀Maybe she’s just in it for the likes and follows and I should stop posting pictures of her? (I’m still assuming it’s a she, but perhaps it’s a…

Cuteness Overload
I missed Little Miss Tickles this morning, though admittedly, I was a little more at ease in the little room 😉 (From previous post) We’ve had another sleep-over guest, this time in a barn about 10 meters away from my dwelling, and equally as dangerous. This one will steal your heart! My host told me about this beautiful Golden Brush-tail Possum sometimes sleeping in their shed. One day when I…

Tickles the Tiger Snake
I beat her awake this morning, before the sun had a chance to hit the concrete and warm her up, I cautiously used my outside bathroom, nervously watching the rather large crack under the door, armed with a stick and a teatowel. I started breakfast, then watched her emerge from under my home. She was onto me straight away. I lay down on the ground to get these two shots, not far away, but far…

Deadly return
It’s been a while, let’s recap …You might remember this toilet door from my last post about two months or so ago. Well, a lot and not much had happened since then. My house now has a new family living in it. I’m currently rich and homeless but being well taken care of by very kind neighbours while I search for a new home. I caught a flu one week after settlement that absolutely floored me which…

Wonderful world
It’s been a busy and varied month since my last post about my home for sale. The day after posting, we received an offer, an agreement was reached and yesterday the contract went “unconditional”. So the house is now sold and will be finalized around mid October. I haven’t been taking many photos, but earlier this month we had a super blue moon – with the next one not being for another 37 years…

Paradise - For Sale
I value my privacy and don’t feel social media is the place for me to share some aspects of my personal life. Lets just say life is short, there’s been a change of circumstances and direction over the last eight months. Our home, offering an idyllic rural lifestyle just minutes from Hobart, is for sale in a very slow Tasmanian Real Estate market. While it is currently listed with Harcourts and…

Gone with the birds
A series of twelve random local bird photos that have been sitting in my “unpublished” folder for some time. It’s about time they flew onto my blog 😀 Green Rosella’s love munching on Manferns and are regular visitors to the valley. A lovely male Scarlet Robin looking for bugs – and probably a lady Robin, enjoying the sunshine. I had trouble identifying these two well camouflaged birds, likely…

More Mono Portraits
Random snaps at Hobart’s Salamanca Market. As well as people watching, I’m always camera watching! And sometimes I get watched! Yep, I was looking at her camera while she was looking closely at something! These two beautiful faces were worth two photos 😀 The easiest way to add beauty to the world, is to smile. The universe will smile back. Thanks for visiting 😀
