Well their spreading habits are very aggresive, from what i'm gethering they could overwhelm other nearby plants/flowers thanks to their aggresivity. Though, depending on the context, they could be beneficial. Like you

A fireweed is more a flower than a weed, they're usually first ones to sprout after forest fires. I want to give you freshly sprout ones, they're a really nice shade of purple.
