From my other blog.
Aegon in my AU is so ready to kill someone, for the last few chapters I've written with him he's just seething, occasionally he's crying but usually he's angry, a ND I intend to get him much MUCH angrier in the next few chapters, like he's gonna kill someone at this rate, i've been going over who Aegon is going to kill first in my head and I have a pretty good candidate.

god, I love writing Aegon and Jon scenes. they just love each other so much, Aegon loves and wants to protect his trapped and scared little brother.
Jon loves and wants to help his big brother however he can.
every time I write them I tend to add in a lot of fluff, cuddling, forehead kissing.
they're just so sweet, but they would both commit murder for the other. Aegon frequently contemplates murder in my AU, usually Aerys or Rhaegar.
Aegon hears about untrustworthy bastard siblings and is like 'Well that sucks, can't relate tho, i love my bro'

Before this chapter begins I would like to give a trigger warning for domestic abuse, physical abuse and racism. I would also like to add my obligatory ‘fuck Aerys’ warning, he is a horrible person and I am in no way condoning his actions, I am trying to show all the Targaryens dynamics with each other and that includes Aerys with Rhaella.
Two days after Aegon's chapter
Chapter twenty Rhaella
Rhaella’s face stung and throbbed with pain in the place Aerys had just smacked her, her ears were ringing from his yelling. Her nose felt broken and her lip was bleeding, his vision was blurry with tears. She was on the ground, she was shaking and sobbing on the ground. Aerys had lost his temper when he had heard Rhaella and Elia talking about how they disapproved of Rhaenys and Aegons betrothal and Aerys had taken it as them criticizing his decisions. So for the last thirty minutes he had been screaming at Rhaella about how criticizing him was treason, about how she should be killed for it.
“You stupid women! You fool! You useless cow!” Aerys screamed and grabbed her by the hair. Rhaella let out a sob. “I’m sorry, my king, I didn’t mean to ins-.” Rhaella was cut off by another smack. “You and that Dornish whore should be rotting in the black cells right now! You both don’t deserve to be living, to breathe the same air as me!” Aerys took a knife out of his pocket and held it to Rhaellas neck. Rhaella felt her heart quicken, Aerys had threatened her with a knife before. Every Time he took it out she wondered if he would finally snap and kill her. “I’m sorry, I’m sorry, I’m so sorry, please A…Aerys, please, I beg for your forgiveness…” Rhaella pleaded. “Why can’t you be a good wife?! A wife who stands by me?! A wife worth the air she breathes!” Aerys pushed the knife against her neck, hard enough to make her bleed but it didn’t cut too deep. Rhaella looked up into Aerys' eyes only to see his anger and hate for her. He looked like he was about to drive the knife into her throat. She closed her eyes tightly and prayed that this would be over soon.
“Mother!” her eyes opened back up and looked across the room, Viserys was standing there looking at them, the knife, wide eyed and full of fear. Aerys scowled at Viserys. “Viserys, me and your mother are having a talk, leave.” Viserys looked at Rhaella's bruised swollen face then back at Aerys with angry eyes, fire was burning in those violet eyes. “No…No, what offense has mother partaken in that deserves such a violent response?!” Viserys spoke, his voice bitter. “That is not of concern for you, leave, now!!” Rhaella mouthed ‘Please leave’ at Viserys. “No, mother is your queen and she has not committed any crimes that are worth such cruelty, she does not deserve your cruel punishments father!” Aerys let go of Rhaella’s hair and walked over to Viserys, he looked Viserys in the eyes and smacked him across the face. Rhaella felt her stomach churn, she hated when Viserys got involved. He never backed down against Aerys, he would keep fighting. It scared Rhaella, what if Aerys hurt Viserys badly or worse…
“Don’t hurt mother.” Viserys growled baring his fangs at Aerys. “You insubordinate little brat! I should send you to the black cells for this!” Aerys grabbed Viserys by the neck, his nails digging into Viserys flesh. “Stop hurting mother, she has hurt no one and done nothing! Beat me or send me to black cells if you wish, father but mother has done nothing!” Viserys maintained eye contact with Aerys, there was a tense silence in the room. After what felt like eternity Aerys let go of Viserys neck. “Disobey me again and you’ll both be rotting in the black cells!” Aerys snarled and left the room.
As soon as he left Rhaella stood up and ran to Viserys, she put her hands on his cheeks. “Oh my sweet boy, what were you thinking?” Rhaella hugged Viserys. “He had a knife to your throat, I couldn’t just leave!....and it did work, he stopped…” Viserys hugged Rhaella back, he looked like he was about to start crying when he looked at her. “Oh my boy….you must not put yourself at risk like that, he could have actually sent you to the black cells.” Rhaella spoke. “I don’t care! He shouldn’t be able to hurt you like that, you're his queen, the mother of his children, he should be protecting you, I hate it, I hate him!” Viserys ranted and tears started welling up in his eyes. “Hush sweetling you must not say that, he is your father and you must love him.” Rhaella gently wiped his tears away. “I don’t care! He doesn’t deserve love after hurting you!” Viserys clung tightly to Rhaella, as if she would disappear the moment he let go of her.

The morning after Aemons chapter
Chapter nineteen Aegon
As soon as Aegon opened his eyes he wanted to close them again, to go back to the dream of a functional happy family where his grandsire was kind and loving, where his father loved his mother and would never leave them for anything, where Aemon would be happy and talkative, where Aegon wasn’t being forced to marry his big sister. But alas all it is, is a dream, a pretty dream that hurts to wake up from.
Aegon sighed and sat up, or he tried to sit up but there was a weight on his chest, Aemon. A sad smile came to Aegon's face, he loved cuddling with his little brother but he knew when Aemon climbed into his bed at night it was usually not for a pleasant reason. Aemons eyes opened, Aegon could tell by the way Aemons eyes opened and the dark circles around his bloodshot eyes that Aemon hadn’t slept that night.
“Morning, Aem. Are you feeling alright?” Aegon gently asked and put his hand on Aemons head, running his hands through Aemons curly brown and silver hair. Aemon nodded and smiled tiredly. Aegon pressed a kiss to Aemons forehead before standing up and getting out of bed.
‘Two months…two months till I have to marry Rhaenys…’ Aegon thought grimly as he walked through the halls with Aemon following after him. Aegon had hoped he could convince his father to wait for at least a year but he was shut down and had to listen to Rhaegar prattle on about the importance of a good marriage, ‘As if he has the right to speak of marriage after he abandoned mother for Lyanna Stark, he has no right, he doesn’t deserve to speak of marriage’ for the last week Aegon had been internally seething near constantly, the only reason he didn’t let the rage out was because he knew nothing would change his situation, if anything it would make it worse. it was better to silently endure.
‘If mother can endure being stuck with him then I can endure being married to Rhaenys, it’s much better than being married to someone cruel or someone I don’t know. And it’s better than never being able to get married like Aemon. This is for the best, I will survive this. I’ll be able to protect Rhaenys, she’ll never be shipped off somewhere where I can't defend her. At least I’ll know she’ll be safe, so that makes this alright, everything will be alright.’
Aegon was shaken from his thoughts by Aemon hugging him. Aegon was confused for a moment but then he felt the wet on his face, he was so caught up in his own thoughts he didn’t realize that he had started crying.
Aemon put his hand to Aegon's face and gently wiped his tears away. “Thanks, Aemon.” Aegon's voice was full of despair and stress. Aemon frowned and with his hand he tilted Aegon's head down so he could pet Aegon's hair. It was a comforting feeling, Aemons hands were gentle and warm. Aegon hated letting Aemon see him vulnerable, the way he looked at it was that he was supposed to help and protect Aemon, not the other way around. But Aegon couldn’t deny that he felt safe and a bit calmer when Aemon held him. Aegon rested his forehead against Aemon’s. Aegon had been doing that since Aemon was a baby and they shared a crib. Some found it odd for them to be so affectionate but to them it was just natural, being physically affectionate was just how they loved, how they felt safe.
Aegon had been dragged off to Rhaegar's study around an hour ago for his lessons. Not that Aegon was listening, he barely listened usually but since finding out about his and Rhaenys marriage he had been so mad he couldn’t bring himself to care enough to even try to pay attention. Instead Aegon day dreamed about the various ways to torture Rhaegar, he knew it was bad to dream of such things but after all he put their family through Aegon didn’t feel bad for wanting to hurt him. Aegon already had very little love for Rhaegar so being angry at him was no trouble to Aegon.
He could have likely continued like this but he wasn’t exactly hiding his anger, he had been glaring daggers sharper then Valyrian steel at Rhaegar ever since he found out about the betrothal, Rhaegar had ignored it due to him assuming that Aegon would ‘get over it’ but at the moment that seemed unlikely. “Is there a reason you’re looking at me like that?” Rhaegar questioned. Aegon's eyes widened and he turned red with anger. “Why?....why?!” Aegon decided that perhaps yelling at Rhaegar wouldn’t hurt. “Yes, why? Marriage is a part of life, you must accept that your duty is to marry, sire heirs, and continue our bloodline.” Rhaegar's voice was dull, perhaps with an undertone of annoyance. “Oh I understand I must marry, produce heirs and secure our bloodline, that isn’t the problem, the problem is you marrying me to Rhaenys!” Rhaegar rolled his eyes. “Why is that a problem? My father and mother are siblings and they are married. If Daenerys had been born earlier I would have been made to marry her instead of Elia.” Aegon wanted to punch him, his fists were clenched. “But there is no need for me to married to Rhaenys. In fact I would say it would be better if she married Willas and I married someone else. That way between the two of us we would have more heirs. And it would tie Highgarden to us. If it’s the Valyrian blood you're worried about we could ask House Velaryon or Celtigar for a bride for me. It would still help strengthen our bloodline. Just call off the marriage, let Rhaenys marry Willas and I will marry whoever you want! Please father, I beg you!” Aegon was near tears by the time he stopped. Rhaegar was staring blankly at Aegon. Rhaegar stepped forward to Aegon and put a hand on his shoulder.
“We all must do our duty.”

So I noticed a lot of people in fanfics go with the 'Rhaegar and Elia were never in love' thing, which makes sense, it was an arranged marriage, those are very rarely love matches, but I choose to go a different way.
I like to think they were both pretty into each other. Elia loved her silver prince and Rhaegar cared for the lovely princess. I like to think he wanted to create the three heads of the dragon just with her. I like to think that for those first few years after marriage they were happy but once Elia couldn't have more kids.....
In my AU Rhaegar was driven by his obsession with prophesy, so he ran off with Lyanna Stark to try and create the third head. Rhaegar told her it was for the greater good, Elia didn't exactly appreciate this, she didn't approve or want this, but she wanted to go with Rhaegar, she didn't want her children to be without there father and she was worried about what would happen after Rhaegar left. Rhaegar said she would be safe at home.
The war broke out and Elia wrote letters to Rhaegar and begged for him to come home or to take them with him, he wrote back once.
'This is what is necessary, I will return once my task is done.'
By the end of the war, their relationship was shattered, they were never as loving or close afterwards. Now they are more estranged and cold to each other.
Rhaegar in my AU was driven by prophesy, and becoming obsessed with prophesy has the ability to destroy everything. It doesn't matter what Rhaegars' intentions were with prophesy. He was obsessed, and it destroyed a lot of his relationships.

My Targaryen family height chart. Before we proceed, I feel that I must mention that I headcanon most of the Targaryens of being short and most of the Martells as being very tall (except Arianne)
Aerys: 5'3
Rhaella: 5'4
Rhaegar: 5'3
Viserys: 5'2
Daenerys: 5'1
Elia: 5'9
Rhaenys: 6'2
Aegon: 6'0
Aemon/Jon: unpopular opinion, 5'0. I always picture Jon as really short.
Rhaenys, Aegon and Elia are giants in this family.
Bonus, Lyanna: 5'4.

Post from my other account.
When I started writing my 'all the Targaryen's survive' fic I went through a few ideas for Jon and eventually landed on the fact he couldn't talk, I especially latched onto the idea of him being mute when I started expanding on how Jon's mind works.
In my AU Jon is severely traumatized, he's essentially a prisoner in his home, he's been tortured by his grandfather for his whole life, he believes he is responsible for all the deaths of Robert's rebellion, including that of his mothers and his mothers family.
I gave Jon night terrors that he gets physical and mental pain from that take a huge toll on him. By the time my story starts Jon is truly ruined internally, and that's why I like the idea of Jon being mute.
Jon was so scared of saying the wrong thing in front of the wrong person and that he would be tortured and killed that he created a physiological block to stop him from speaking at all, even if he wants to, he can't.
He can't ask for help, he can't explain what's happening to him, he's stuck being the only one who knows what's happening to him, and that's why I like it.
It's horrible, he can't scream for help, he can't beg, his mind has shut down the part of him that could talk.
Imagine being fatally wounded or having a mental breakdown, Imagine you desperately need help, and right outside your door are dozens of people who can help you, who would help you if they heard you, but no matter how hard you try your mind won't let you yell for help, you're stuck.
The horror, the tragedy, that's why I made Jon like this.

Post from my other account.
Jon in my AU has a lot of gender
But not enough to be Visenya.
Neither Rhaegar nor Jon are happy with this.
For the first few months of Jon's life Rhaegar was convinced Jon was a girl and that everyone was wrong but him, he called Jon Visenya, refused to listen to anyone about it.
"No its Visenya, it has to be Visenya!"
Rhaegar wasn't even the one to name him. Elia knew Jon needed a name so she let Aegon and Rhaenys choose from the 'big book of Targaryen names'.
It took nearly a year for Rhaegar to accept that the Visenya he had started a war to get, the third prophecy child that he believed was so important that hundreds of people died for, wasn't what he expected or wanted.
Now Rhaegar doesn't look at Jon anymore, he barely talks to him, and when he does he always says 'Visenya'.
Jon has a weird identity crisis that I plan to expand upon in my book where he believes that he's destined to be someone else, Visenya, but he can never be Visenya.
He can never be what his father tore the world apart for, he can never be the thing his mother died for, he can't be the justification for the hundreds of lives lost in Robert's rebellion, and he hates himself for it.

Rhaegar barely speaking to Jon/Aemon but when he does he calls Aemon 'Visenya', not on purpose, he just can't stop, that will always be the daughter that he started a war to get. Jon/Aemon isn't a son to Rhaegar, but he also can never be a daughter.

TW for self-hatred, suicidal thoughts, survivors guilt, mentions of death via childbirth. apologies for putting the Targ kids through so much, they deserve better but probably won't get it, at least for the next few chapters.
This takes place a week after Rhaenys chapter
Chapter 18 Aemon
It was a beautiful lavender sky, the sun was shining cheerfully and smiling down at them, birds were flying through the sky. Aemon was sitting in a valley full of flowers, his head was lying in her lap and she was stroking his hair, he stared up into her warm light gray eyes. They were so kind and comforting, her hand went down to his cheek and held his face. “I'm so glad to see you, my sweet little boy.” “I’m happy to see you too, mama, I really missed you, you were gone for so long..” Aemon replied and hugged her waist, she put her arms around him and cuddled him close.
“I’m so sorry I was gone but I have to ask…” Aemon looked up at her again. “Why are you upset that I was gone? after all you killed me .” Aemon’s stomach dropped. “W….what….” Her face began to fade into a haze, Aemon could no longer see her eyes but he could feel them burrowing into his flesh. “ You killed me, you ripped me open from the inside out and killed me. Why did you do that? Why did you kill your mother? Why would you be so cruel? ” The world began collapsing, the sky began bleeding a dark red color and the sun blackened. “I….I didn…I didn’t mean to….” Tears begane falling from Aemon’s eyes.  The flowers around them died, they became dried and wilted. “ I was forced to bring you into the world and in response to my sacrifice you killed me?! You split me open and killed me, you are truly a monster from the darkest pits of the seven hells to everyone around you! You should have been the one to die, your birth caused the death of entire bloodlines yet you get to live?! Monster, I birthed a monster!”
Aemon tried to cover his ears but the dead flowers wrapped around his arms and held him still. “I’m sorry, mama, I didn’t mean to, I’m sorry, I’m sorry, I’m sorry!” Aemon sobbed. She kept screaming ‘ Monster ’, over and over again. As she screamed the world began cracking open and fire rose up, it was coming for him. Aemon tried to scream for help or for mercy but his voice wouldn’t work, he couldn’t make a sound, but she did, she kept screaming ‘ Monster ’ until the ground under them cracked and they fell into the pit flames but before they reached the ground.
Aemon shot up and with a loud thud he fell out of bed, he was panting heavily, sweat and tears were dripping down his face, his vision was blurry and his ears were ringing. ‘Breathe it was just a dream.’ his brain told him, he greedily drank in the air. Aemon tried to stand up but he was shaking too much and fell down again. An intense pain went through his skull, the word ‘ Monster ’ being whispered in his head. Aemon curled up in a little ball and started sobbing and trying to calm himself. ‘ Monster ’ Aemon tried to shake the voice out of his head. ‘ Killer ’ Aemon covered his ears trying to block it out. ‘ You deserve to burn ’ ‘Stop, please stop’ Aemons chipped fingernails were digging into his scalp as he tried to block out the sound, he broke the skin and blood started leaking from the cuts. ‘ Die, you deserve to die, make yourself bleed more, it’s what you deserve. ’ Aemon wanted to scream but he never would, he never could, it was better to be silent and terrified then loud and terrified.
After what felt like eternity Aemon managed to steady himself enough to stand up, he was still shaking but not to the point he couldn’t walk. he walked over to a corner in his room, he pressed down on several parts of the stone, his vision was stilled blurred so it was hard to see what he was searching for but eventually he pressed on the right part of stone and the wall opened up, allowing him access to the secret passages of the red keep.
Aemon shakily walked through the passages, he walked for what should be a few minutes but what felt like hours. He looked at a specific entrance with the letter ‘A’ carved into it. Aemon opened the entryway and walked into the room.
Aegon's room, it was late at night so Aegon was still asleep. Aemon walked over to Aegon's bed and stared at his big brother for a few moments. ‘ Monster, you’ll probably kill him too ’ Aemon tried to ignore the thoughts and climbed into Aegon's bed. Aemon knew he shouldn’t be climbing into Aegon's bed but he couldn’t help it, he had been doing it since he could walk, whenever he was scared or had a nightmare he just slept with Aegon, it was safe, Aegon would protect him. ‘ You're just a burden, a parasite clinging to people better than you ’ Aemon sniffled and cuddled into Aegon’s arms. Aegon's arms wrapped around Aemon and held him close. Aemon looked up to see if he had woken Aegon up, luckily he hadn’t and was just being cuddly in his sleep. Aemon felt like his control was coming back slowly, the ringing in his ears was going away and the tears stopped coming at such an extreme rate, but he was still trembling and his vision was still blurry, but it was a bit better, Aegon always made Aemon feel better, even in his sleep he was safe and comforting to Aemon.
Aemon doubted he would go back to sleep tonight but at least if he didn’t he would be a bit calmer than usual

Right after Elia’s meeting with Rhaegar
Chapter 17 Rhaenys.
“I really hope mother convinces father, I can’t imagine marrying anyone but Willas.” Rhaenys was pacing anxiously around her room. Aegon stood up and gently took Rhaenys hand. “Rhae, I’m sure it’ll go well. Father has no reason not to agree to the marriage, Willas will be lord of Highgarden one day, Highgarden is rich and will be a good alliance. Mother will tell father it’s a good political marriage and that it’s a love match and he’ll agree.” Aemon, who was sitting on Rhaenys bed nodded in agreement and smiled at her. “I hope you two are right…I’m sure father will see the common sense in it and agree to it.”
Rhaenys tried to calm herself, she imagined a wedding for her and Willas, her dress was red and gold, the altar was decorated with beautiful roses and vines, Willas was there wearing a green cloak embroidered with gold roses. When she reached Willas at the altar he put a crown of red and gold roses on her head and kissed her gently, it was more beautiful than all of the seven heavens combined.
Rhaenys was shaken by her thoughts when she heard her door open, she turned and saw her mother, a hopeful smile bloomed on her lips. “Mother, did you talk to father yet, what did he say, did he say yes?!” Rhaenys was practically shaking with excitement, she heard Aegon and Aemon both let out quiet giggles. Elia sighed. “We need to talk, Aemon, would you mind leaving so I can talk to Rhaenys and Aegon in private.” Rhaenys felt confused, this was about her marriage, why was Aegon staying? Aegon seemed equally as curious. Aemon nodded and bowed before leaving the room. “Mother, is something wrong?” Aegon asked and step forward. “I talked to your father, and he…my sweet girl…” Elia put her hand on Rhaenys cheek. “I’m sorry, he refuses to allow you to marry Willas.” Rhaenys felt tears start pooling in her eyes. ‘No….I was supposed to marry Willas and go to Highgarden…this can’t be happening.’ Elia wrapped her arms around Rhaenys and held her. “I’m so sorry…” Elia stroked Rhaenys hair. Aegon joined in holding Rhaenys. “Why? Willas is perfect for her! Why won’t father allow it?! What idiotic reason does he have?!” Aegon seethed. Aegon scarcely became mad, he was usually trying to keep the peace but when it came to Rhaenys and Aemon he would rage if anyone hurt them. “Well….that’s why I didn’t get you to leave…your father has decided to strengthen the line by marrying you to each other. Rhaenys felt her heart stop. ‘This can’t be real. This was some sick joke meant to make me cry. They can’t make me and Aegon…’ Rhaenys thought. “N…no….no….This…I don’t….mother…” Aegon seemed at a loss for words. Elia wrapped one of her arms around Aegon while keeping Rhaenys in her arms. “I’m so sorry…your father didn’t listen to me, he even consulted with the king before telling me…I know this isn’t what either of you want and I’m sorry…” Elia started tearing up while clutching Rhaenys and Aegon in her arms. “I’m so sorry my sweet babies…”
An hour later.
Aegon and Rhaenys were sitting on Rhaenys bed, they both had dried tears on their cheeks, they were trying to process everything, they were Targaryens and sibling marriage was normal but they didn’t want this, Rhaenys loved Willas and Aegon hasn’t shown interest in marriage, they don’t want this, there are plenty of lords and ladies in the seven kingdoms that would be acceptable spouses, why couldn’t they marry them, why did they have to marry each other?
After several minutes of tense silence Aegon finally spoke. “....this is shit….” Rhaenys sighed. “I couldn’t agree more…” Rhaenys leaned back on the bed. “Do you think we could try and talk father out of this?” Aegon shook his head. “If mother can't, I doubt we can, fathers a fool and if he wants something he’ll never see reason.” Aegon's tone was bitter and shaking with anger. “You’re right…so what do we do? Just accept our fate?” silence filled the tense room. “You can keep being with Willas if you want during our ‘marriage’....I won’t stop you…” Aegon replied. Rhaenys sighed. “Oh seven hells, I’ll have to tell Willas about this, my poor love, he was so excited about the prospect of us marrying, now I not only have to tell him that we can’t get married but I’m also marrying my little brother…” Rhaenys buried her face in her hands. Aegon gently reached out and rubbed her shoulder. “It’ll be alright…We’ll find a way to cope with this…” Rhaenys wrapped her arms around Aegons neck and hugged him, he quickly returned the embrace. “You’re right….we’ll be alright….we need to be alright.” Rhaenys voice broke and tears started falling again, she suspected it would be a long time before she would go through a day with no tears again.

a post from my main account rebogged on my side account
Sooooo
This was a comment in response to me wanting an excuse to ramble about my Targaryen's survive AU so thank you @celerieth for this opportunity and thank you for the follow (:
Tumblr media
Btw I am sorry to everyone who only follows me for aphmau content because I keep posting game of thrones stuff.
Warning, long post
So I've mentioned my AU and it's concept on my blogs before. The premise is basically all the Targaryen's survive the rebellion and kill the Baratheons, Starks, Arryns, and Tullys for their treason. Aerys remains king but I kinda stall his madness for the sake of story telling so Jaime does not kill him.
My fic starts at the same time as the Canon books except it basically only (so far) takes place in kingslanding. All the Targ kids (Aegon, Rhaenys, Daenerys, Viserys, Jon) get their own chapters, Rhaella and Elia, get them as well. Rhaegar is the only one so far without a chapter in progress.
The story mainly follows the more domestic drama and relationships between the characters so far, with everyone having to endure Aerys. But I do add in a lot of fluff for the Targ kids so it can be sweet.
Aegon is the picture perfect prince, smart, funny, kind, good looking but he has a few problems. Aegon has some pent up hatred towards Rhaegar for abandoning the family during the rebellion, this results in Aegon being more critical and distrustful of Rhaegar, viewing Rhaegar as mad for chasing a prophecy. This extra tension since Aegon is the child who Rhaegar views as the prince who was promised and thus pays extra unwanted attention to Aegon. Aegon is very close with his siblings, and mother, feeling extremely protective of them.
Rhaenys is an intelligent, witty, charming girl. Rhaenys shares Aegons feelings towards Rhaegar for the rebellion but she's much calmer and more lenient with Rhaegar, mainly because she doesn't talk to him often, he's distant and often in his head so neither cares enough to reach out. Rhaenys is loving towards her family and often tries to keep them in line, especially Daenerys. She has a slight rivalry with Daenerys but it's largely loving. She is the only one of her siblings in a relationship, she is secretly courting Willas Tyrell, heir to Highgarden.
Viserys is much nicer and calmer than in Canon since he never had to go through the trauma of being on the run and having his family die. Viserys is a loving older brother and uncle. He's a mama's boy, he tries his best to support his mother while she deals with the abuse at Aerys hand. He has a slightly odd relationship with Aerys. Aerys spared Viserys a lot of the abuse that the other family members suffered because Viserys is his favorite son, while he was saved from the physical and mental abuse he developed a guilt of sorts, feeling guilty that while his family is hurt he is safe. This guilt causes Viserys to be a bit protective and he tries to remove his family members from the area when Aerys get violent and loud.
Daenerys is reckless and chaotic but loving. She has a complicated relationship with her father. Aerys goes from doting on his daughter in every way to yelling and screaming at her at an instant, as a result Daenerys tends to avoid being around her father unless necessary. She's extremely close to Viserys with him being her safe person, kinda seeing him as a father or a caretaker more than a brother.
All the family members that have POVs are the main characters but Jon (Aemon in my rewrite) has the biggest one planned out. Jon is the last known member of the Stark family since he's Lyannas son. Jon is raised as something similar to a prisoner, being a symbol of the war and all the people the Targaryens demolished. Jon is antagonized by Aerys frequently to the point Jon loses sleep every night over the possibility of being murdered and having dreams of being burned alive by Aerys. He feels something similar to survivors guilt, believing he didn't deserve to live, and viewing his birth as the cause of the rebellion (will alaborate if needed)and as a result the cause of death of everyone who died in the rebellion, including all the Starks and his mother. Jon is extremely paranoid and fearful. Hes so paranoid that he went mute because he was scared of saying the wrong thing and being killed, his fear is intense that he can't talk if he tried, he created a mental block to stop him. he is rarely away from Aegon who he is close to, if Aegon is in a room Jon cannot go in he'll wait by the door for Aegon to come out. Jon is close with Rhaenys as well, often going to her for comfort.
That's base info, I know there's a lot, and that's just the stuff that I'm posting, I have pages of lore I'm waiting to implement.
If anyone is interested in any of this feel free to ask questions. Also thank you Celerieth.

A few hours after the last chapter
Chapter 16 Elia
“Rhaegar, we need to talk.” Elia spoke as she walked into Rhaegar's office. Rhaegar was sitting at his desk reading a book and Jon Connington was leaning over Rhaegar's shoulder and had his arms wrapped around Rhaegar's chest, they were practically spooning, when Jon saw Elia he quickly backed away and glared at Elia. “Princess.” Jon greeted coldly. “Lord Connington, I need to talk to my husband. Alone.” Jon looked at Rhaegar, after a few seconds Rhaegar nodded, Jon sighed and bowed to Rhaegar before leaving.
“What is it you want to discuss?” Rhaegar asked in his normal stoic tone. “I want to talk about our sweet daughter.” Elia replied and sat next to Rhaegar. “Go on.” Rhaegar kept looking at his book, he wouldn’t even look at Elia. Elia took a deep breath. “I think we should betroth Rhaenys to Willas Tyrell, It’s a good match, they get along, Highgarden is rich, the Tyrells control the grain shipments, they have a large army it would be wise to tie our family to theirs.” Elia explained. “Absolutely not.” Rhaegar closed his book and looked at Elia. “Why? Our daughter deserves to be happy, she’ll be happy with Willas.” Elia spoke. “Happiness is not our main concern. And why would I marry her to a Hightower?” Elia sighed in a frustrated manner. “Willas is a Tyrell, his mother is a Hightower, and for the last time the Hightowers are a respectable house.” Rhaegar stood up. “Dragons! We could have had dragons Elia! But the Hightowers schemed during the dance and that led to the dragons dying!” Elia took a deep breath. “Willas is not a Hightower, his mother is…and the dance of dragons happened over a hundred years ago, the current living Hightowers had nothing to do with that.” Rhaegar looked away from Elia and groaned. “Even so Rhaenys can’t marry Willas.” Elia turned Rhaegars face towards her. “Why? doesn’t our little girl deserve a happy life? A happy marriage?...Doesn’t she deserve better than what we had?” Elia asked, her voice becoming quiet and pained, she remembered hoping for a beautiful loving marriage with her silver haired prince. Unfortunately that illusion shattered quickly. Rhaegar was quiet for a few moments, contemplating something. Rhaegar hesitantly took Elia's hand. “Life…wasn’t kind to us….at least in marriage….but life isn’t fair or kind…” Elia looked Rhaegar in the eyes. “Yes but if given the opportunity, shouldn't we try to make life a little kinder, a little better? Our daughter has the opportunity for a good life filled with love and care.” Rhaegar hesitated to speak but did so nonetheless. “I’ve…talked to my father…we’ve already picked out a husband for Rhaenys…and a wife for Aegon.” Elia felt her heart drop. “You…you picked out marriages for our children without consulting me?...of course you did…why am i even surprised?...who? Who are the people you’ve decided to marry our children to?” Elia was silently hoping, praying that Rhaegar didn’t do what she thought he did. “In the traditions of our house Aegon and Rhaenys will marry each other.”
Elia felt despair go through her, she had known the customs of the house of the dragon since before she married Rhaegar, she understood that this was always a possibility but she always had hoped to find her children love matches or at least ones where they wouldn’t be in despair. Aegon and Rhaenys loved each other dearly but they weren’t in love, Rhaenys loved Willas and Aegon never had shown interest in any women that Elia knew of. She knew her children would hate being married to each other, they were siblings not lovers.
“Rhaegar…please…our children will hate that...please just consider marrying Rhaenys to Willas. For Aegon we can find a girl he would like from a good noble house, just please listen Rhaegar.” Elia pleaded and held her hand to Rhaegar's cheek. “Father and I think it will be best for our line.” Rhaegar pushed away Elia’s hand. “What about what is best for our children?!” Elia snapped. Rhaegar hardly spent actual time with their children beyond giving Aegon lessons yet he decided to plan their children's marriages without asking for any insight from the women who birthed and raised and loved their children. “This is what's best for our children, trust me, Elia.” Elia felt like she was going to explode, she took a deep breath, turned away from Rhaegar and left the room.

Takes place at the same time as Willas’ mini chapter
Viserys chapter 15
Viserys was in the courtyard training with Loras Tyrell and Aegon. Well Viserys wasn’t exactly training, he was more watching and using his shield when needed. Viserys wasn’t exactly interested in fighting, he could fight with a sword but he was much more interested in the arts, painting, theater, and music. There was no real reason for Viserys to fight, he had guards and knights, he didn’t need to be a strong warrior, he only ever enjoyed ‘fighting’ when it was with his nephews and even then, it’s mostly play fighting. Viserys was shaken from his thoughts by Loras Tyrell kicking him on the back and knocking him down.
“Fuck!” Viserys shouted. Loras and Aegon started giggling. “Apologies Viserys, I assumed you were paying attention and would block me.” Loras replied in a tone Viserys hated, just something about it sounded so smug, but that was to be expected from that pretty little asshole. Loras put out his hand for Viserys to take. Viserys scowled, he may have a high tolerance for his sister, niece and nephews bratty behavior but other people just pissed him off, especially that pretty bitch Loras. “And I assumed you had enough grace and decency to not attack a person when their back is turned, have you no manners? And it’s PRINCE Viserys to you, Tyrell.” Viserys slapped Loras’ hand away and snarled revealing his sharp pointed teeth. Loras’ eyes widened slightly but didn’t back away. “Apologies my prince, I assumed your royal highness could take a simple game but I shall proceed with caution in the future.” Loras made eye contact with Viserys while speaking.
‘That pretty pompous little bitch’ Viserys felt like he was about to smack Loras but before he could give into that Aegon grabbed him by the shoulder and pulled him up, Aegon walked back slightly while holding Viserys, he wrapped his arm around Viserys keeping him still. “We’re all friends here, let's not fight.” Loras’ eyes never stopped drilling into Viserys, and Viserys wouldn’t be the one to break this stare. “Yes, of course, prince Aegon. I didn’t mean to provoke prince Viserys.” Loras replied. ‘Little twat, pretending to be respectful, pretending to be decent when in reality he thinks he’s better than everyone just because of his looks, stupid ass pretty boy.’ Viserys thought and continued scowling at Laenor. Aegon rubbed Viserys back. “Come on Vizzy, be nice.” Viserys heard a quiet snort from Laenor. “Got something to say twat?!” Viserys snapped, he tried to lunge at Loras but Aegon put Viserys in a headlock. “This was fun but I think it might be enough for the day….” Aegon spoke politely as he held onto Viserys. “Yes, i think I’m going to go and keep my sister company. Good day prince Aegon, prince Vizzy.” Loras simply said and walked away, Viserys face turned bright red, he felt his heart speed up, his breath quickened and an odd feeling rose up in his gut but it was quickly overpowered by anger. Viserys tried to break out of Aegon's hold to attack Loras. “You son of a whore!!!” Viserys yelled. Only family was allowed to call him ‘Vizzy’.
Aegon and Viserys were walking through the halls
“You need to calm down your hatred of Loras, my arms have bruises on them from keeping you still, he’s not even that bad. I don’t even understand why you dislike him, he’s usually quite pleasant.” Aegon exclaimed in an exasperated voice. “No he isn’t!!!! He’s just some little brat who thinks everyone is below him just because he’s pretty!!!” Viserys exclaimed. Aegon paused and looked Viserys up and down. “You hate him….because he’s pretty?” Viserys groaned. “No you twat! I hate him because he thinks that he’s better then everyone because he’s pretty!” Aegon raised an eyebrow “But you think he’s pretty?” Viserys' face flushed red. “Shut up, Aegon! He’s a dumb pretty boy, he’s just annoying! Every little thing he does gets on my nerves! The way he breaths, the way he moves, the way he brushes his hair out of his face, the way he laughs…the way his eyes look in the sun….the way he smiles….that stupid smile!” Viserys ranted. Aegon started giggling. “Vizzy, do you need to tell me something? Don’t worry, I won't tell, after all I keep Rhaenys and Willas’ secret pretty well.” Aegon had a dumb teasing grin on his face. “I’m not sure what you’re implying but stop! You look like an idiot.” Visery punched Aegon in the arm. “I think you know exactly what I’m implying….It’s nothing to be ashamed of.” Aegon replied. “I…You know nothing!” Viserys hissed.
For a few minutes Aegon stopped and they kept walking until Aegon uttered quietly. “You know nothing will ever make us stop loving you…you’re family, your preferences won’t change that…” Viserys' anger cooled and he sighed. “I know….but don’t…don’t say anything to anyone….this feeling…It’s confusing…” Viserys muttered. Aegon nodded and put a comforting arm around Viserys. Viserys put his head on Aegons shoulder and took a deep breath in and out.

A few hours after the Tyrells arrive
Chapter 14.5 Willas Tyrell (mini chapter)
“And as she finally kissed her love as she had wanted to for hundreds years she finally understood what it was to be truly happy, the end.”
Willas and Rhaenys had managed to sneak away from their families to the library so they could read books together. They were reading ‘A Love Reborn’, it was about two lovers being reborn hundreds of times and finding each other in every life but tragedy always taking one of them before they could truly be together, it ends with them finally breaking the cycle of pain and finding love with each other. Willas and Rhaenys read it every time they visited each other, it was their favorite love story. Rhaenys was lying on Willas shoulder and he had his arms around her. Balerion was sitting . As Rhaenys finished reading Willas pressed a gentle kiss to her lips which she happily returned, after a few short seconds that felt like eternity they pulled away, they had to be careful about getting caught after all, they had to pretend that they were simply close childhood friends, they couldn’t risk the king's wrath.
“I missed you so much…” Rhaenys spoke quietly. “I missed you as well, I hate being without you, you’re like the sun, without you the world is dark.” Willas caressed Rhaenys cheek. A smile bloomed on Rhaenys face. “Well…if we’re lucky we might not have to be apart anymore…a few days ago I talked to my mother, I asked her to talk to my father to see if he would consider a marriage for us. If he agrees and your family agrees we can be married, wouldn’t that be wonderful?” Willas smiled softly in response. ’Of course my family would agree to the marriage, you're perfect’ Willas thought. “That would be wonderful, we wouldn’t have to hide our love, i could take you to Highgarden, we could spend all day together, doing what we like, being what we like, loving how we like, and when we’re ready we’ll have beautiful children, it sounds like a dream.” Willas and Rhaenys were both grinning and pink in the face. “It does, I pray my father will agree, I can't imagine being with anyone but you.” Rhaenys ran her fingers through Willas hair. Willas leaned in for a kiss “I love you….” “I love you to…” Rhaenys leaned forward as well.

Chapter 14 Rhaella
Rhaella was breaking her fast with her family, or most of her family, Rhaegar and Aerys were discussing something together and had given everyone else the go ahead to eat breakfast without them, which made for a nice quiet breakfast, the children were joking and talking to each other, Viserys and Rhaenys were teasing each other as per usual, Aegon was trying to calm them a bit, and Daenerys and Aemon were drawing together.
Elia cleared her throat to get everyone's attention. “So, as I'm sure everyone remembers the Tyrells are coming to visit, they should arrive today.” Rhaella saw Rhaenys eyes light up at the mention of the visit, though Rhaenys had never explicitly stated how she felt about the Tyrell heir but Rhaella had always known what it was.
“I want everyone on their best behaviors.” Elia spoke. “Aren’t we always?” Viserys replied. Elia chuckled “no….they should be here around noon, once we get word they’ve arrived we’ll wait outside for them.” Elia spoke.
‘Ah outside, outside the red keep, how I would love to be outside the Red Keep, alas Aerys hasn’t granted me that privilege in years.’ Rhaella thought. She hadn’t been allowed outside the Red Keep since she was pregnant with Viserys. yes she could go on her balcony, or in the garden but that was all in the keep, it wasn't truly being outside, she longed to be outside, she remembered as a child her family would occasionally go on hunts and trips, she remembered when her father wasn’t sick, her parents would walk outside with her and Aerys, they would pick flowers and have picnics, it was one of the few times Rhaella could remember being happy with Aerys being around.
Elia, Viserys, Daenerys, Aegon and Rhaenys were all at the gates waiting to greet the Tyrells, Rhaella was sitting on the couch in a sitting area with Aemon next to her. Due to Aemons bastard birth he was forbidden to greet nobles and hold the same prominence as the other members of the family which meant during times like this Aemon would sit with Rhaella and keep her company. When Viserys was younger he wasn’t allowed outside much either so he would be by Rhaellas side but as he grew and his risk of death lowered he was given more freedoms, which meant when company arrived he would be there to greet them, he wouldn’t be by his mothers side. Rhaella couldn’t blame Viserys, she would be just as desperate to get some fresh air if she was given the chance. Rhaegar used to keep her company as well, but as Rhaegar grew into the man he is today he became distant, not just from Rhaella but from everyone, his wife, his children, his siblings, he got even worse after the ugliness of the rebellion. Now it seems that the only person he talks to regularly is Jon Connington, and even then it seems like it’s mostly Jon doing the talking. When Daenerys was born Rhaella had her as company, her baby girl would sit and cuddle with her during lonely times, of course Daenerys was always an adventurous curious girl, and as soon as she learned to crawl she started getting away from Rhaella.
Rhaella missed when both her sons were close to her, before Rhaegar grew, when he was her boy, when he would comfort her with his presence after a particularly bad day, when he would let her old him while she cried, when he was her little boy….but at least she had her younger children and her grandchildren.
Aemon was sitting up straight, he looked stiff and uncomfortable, like he was afraid to move. Rhaella understood why, of course. When Aemon was small he had been a cuddly little child, always wanting to be held and cuddled. Once she had picked up Aemon and cuddled him, Aerys had come in and something snapped, he had one of the kingsguard beat Aemon for ‘touching the queen in an inappropriate manner’, the poor boy was so scared and confused, he was crying and screaming, Rhaella could even tell that the kingsguard felt bad for doing it. Ever since that day Aemon had become much more uncomfortable with affection from Rhaella, worried that he would be hurt, now he only became affectionate when he was sure Aerys was nowhere to near.
Rhaella gently took Aemons hand in hers and held it, Aemon flinched slightly but still held her hand. Aemons eyes would look around the room, watching nervously in case Aerys made an unannounced appearance. Rhaella took a deep breath and prayed that Aerys would keep his temper controlled while they had guests

Chapter 13 Aerys
“Fourteen years ago, several foolish houses rose up against the noble house Targaryen, they were the houses of Stark, Tully, Arryn, and Baratheon, all because some idiotic lords were executed and a girl was ‘kidnapped’, kidnapped! Can you believe it? What does it matter whore girl went willingly? and those lords deserved to be executed!” "Yes father….i was there I remember.” Rhaegar spoke in an uninterested way. “Yes, yes, yes, you were there, if i remember correctly you were the one whore girl and started that whole thing, yet you hardly did a thing during the rebellion.” Aerys grumbled “Father, what is the point of this conversation? The rebellion failed, everyone who opposed you is dead.” Aerys shook his head. “No, no, everyone who openly opposed me is dead, the snakes who hide in the gardens wrapped around flowers are very much alive. I never trusted house Tyrell, and yet they are coming to visit.” “Yes, father, house Tyrell have always been an ally, they supported us during Aegon the Conqueror's conquest and they supported us throughout the rebellion.” Rhaegar sighed. “Did they? They showed up to battles late, they only won the least important battles and now they seem to have their eyes on your daughter.” “Excuse me?” “Whenever the Tyrells visit I hear whispers about Rhaenys and the cripple heir of Highgarden, whispers of them being together.” Aerys explained in a disgusted way. “Rhaenys wouldn’t, she knows better, even if she would, Elia wouldn’t let her.” Rhaegar replied. “Your Dornish whore of a wife would stop your Dornish daughter from being a whore? What a joke.” Rhaegar sighed but said nothing. “The fact of the matter is the Tyrells can’t be trusted and-.” Aerys was cut off by a knock on his door. “Who interrupts me!?” “Tis I Lord Connington and Ser Gerold, may we enter your grace?” Jon Connington asked from outside the door. “Yes, yes, come in, you two better have a good reason to interrupt me and my son while we meet!” Jon Connington and Ser Gerold Hightower walked in. “Apologies for interrupting your grace but we have some concerning information.” Jon Connington spoke. “Spit it out then.” Aerys replied coldly. “Last night two more of your household knights, Ser Jacor and Ser Seldan, were found dead in flea bottom, their corpses were heavily mutilated and were hung up in the streets.” Ser Gerold spoke. “So?” “My king, as you know these are not the first of your knights to be found dead in a rather gruesome way. Over the past few months several of your knights have been killed in very similar ways.” Ser Gerold replied. “Rats die every day, what's two more? You say these two were in my service but I don't remember them. Tell me when it’s someone important who dies.” Ser Gerold nodded slightly. “Yes, yes of course, your grace.” “Good…Now go if you have nothing else to say!” Jon Connington and Ser Gerold quickly bowed and left. “Twats, all of my councilmen twats i tell you!” Aerys grumbled. “Yes father, I know, everyones a twat.” Rhaegar spoke in a disinterested way. “Would it kill you to be interested in anything?!” “Perhaps if you said something interesting I would listen.” Rhaegar replied quietly. “What did you say?!” Aerys yelled. “Nothing father.”
