fic: the street heats the urgency of now (Willow, Kit/Jade, E)
The October full moon is wet and bleak, the saddest kind of late-autumn weather. The rain and wind have beaten away the fall foliage and left it in a soggy mess on the ground, slowly browning in piles in the gutter and along the forest trails. The longer nights coinciding with damp days have made the last few weeks feel like an endless expanse of blue-grey and brown, despite the rain-bright green of the cypress and hemlock and cedar high on the hills. The winter wet has found them early this year. Meet me, Jade had whispered into the phone last night, and Kit's heart had leapt in spite of the practicalities of finding her clothes even a little bit dry the next day. Please.

Lights Refract Sequin Stars (i can do it with a broken heart)
for @swashbucklery
When a quest goes wrong, fabled adventurer Kit Tanthalos returns home to her small hamlet to pick up the pieces of her life. She leaves her own cottage empty to move in with her childhood friend Elora, the village’s healer. In an effort to keep herself busy, Kit finds peace and a bit of magic in the work of a thread and needle. And with that, comes an unexpected calling and the opportunity to fix what went wrong on the quest she and Jade accomplished for the Crown Prince.

In celebration of Tanthamay, a short fic to fulfill the first week's prompt!

Well, their eyes had met while staring at Aphrodite, and even Jade could accept a little nudging from the universe. And she hadn't been touched in so long. Certainly not by thin dexterous fingers that seemed to have the vibrating tension of movement even when they were still, that spread little warm patches along Jade's skin beneath the fabric of her shirt.

For Tanthamay Canon Week! AO3 Link Here
"You're losing," Kit says. Jade grits her teeth. "She's just getting stronger," Kit says, "You can't stop her. I can't stop her." "I'm supposed to protect you," Jade says, and her voice fails as much as her promise has. Kit smiles, and even covered in blood and soot and broken, she is heart stopping when she smiles "You have. You did," she says, "but you can't protect me from what's inside."

“N,” Jade says, as she writes the first letter, reading for Kit since she can’t see, couldn’t even attempt to read backwards and upside down, “E, E, D, Y.” Jade takes a single step back, like an artist surveying their last stroke to see if it makes the picture cohesive. Jade’s smile is slow and perfect and Kit feels just like a work of art. “What next, my love?” Jade asks, though Kit is certain that Jade already knows what she would like to write on each rib. It’s hard for Kit to offer anything, hard to be so presumptuous, but Jade regards her softly and says nothing. Kit screws up her courage.

Week 2 of TanthaMay: Canon Week
everything ever green.
'There was a relationship she had with the colour green. Not quite friends or family, more than acquaintances, intimate like lovers, but where she was smitten with it she resented it almost as much.'
How green winds itself into Kit's life, and snippets into some of the best and worst ways.
