Powerful sculpture at Burning Man 2015 shows inner children trapped inside adult bodies. Inside each body and each other’s (insert negative emotion), we’re longing to connect. - “Love” by Ukrainian sculptor, Alexander Milov - #bucketlist https://www.instagram.com/p/Bn5DI6ul8Tozo893y7NWxQFHHGsM9oaUl2ZEuI0/?utm_source=ig_tumblr_share&igshid=8nzkotbmndim

I am fortunate to be alive. To have eyes to see and ears to hear this sight. Invaluable human life.

"How we remember is the key to our identity. to remember something requires intention and attention. rick hansen says it takes 20 or 30 seconds to remember something positive and something good. too often we say, ”I don’t want to be selfish” or refuse to take in compliments. in a society that props up the good of the self, we actually learn to scorn ourselves. The amygdala, the feeling part of our brain, 67 percent of its work is to scan for threat or danger, when we are unsafe emotionally/physically. Because of this war in our body and brain, most of our internal dialogue is naturally set up for negativity, self-protection and anxiety. intention and conscious training are everything. We must move into the pre-frontal cortex and say, “There's something good in here to sit with." Sitting with the good may be painful and hard. Try it. Think of something good in your life for 30 seconds. Think of something good about you for 30 seconds. Only the body saves the soul."- Prof Doug Shirley ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ celebrate yourself.

What’s going to heal you is your imagination. Your imagination is unlocked in relationship. Did you know that your brain sends the greatest amount of dopamine with anticipation? Children read stories over and over again, intensely fascinated, by their eagerness to explore, wonder—without need for explanation.

I’m so grateful to be standing here— on my favorite ledge, on this specific day, in a land that has taught me most about the glory and terror that is the human condition. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Winter solstice— the ancient, astronomical phenomenon with the shortest period of daylight and the longest night of the year—reminds me to sit tight. That no story is wasted. There’s magic in the darkness and as the ongoing cycles and seasons ebb and flow on, each darker hour will soon be met by light. Sol meaning “sun” and sisere meaning“to stand still”— as the darkness drains more light, i’m reminded to stay. Right. Here. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Today reminds me of meaning, of hope, of rest and breath and to celebrate time with intention and every human being as an underlying spiritual phenomenon that lies dormant like a seed. All you need is here. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Cred: @alecmatlock

I can't believe I get to live here. Around these people. At this school. By these waters. (Ruby Beach, WA)

"Water, over time, destroyed this smooth land, and made it beautiful. I'm sure the land was upset as it happened. Now, I bet it boasts. Life, over time, can carve away the life you thought you'd lead, the plans you made. But it's busy, slowly, slowly, working." @jedidiahjenkins (at Yellowstone Falls)

I’ve come to love the words “and” & “other” because “either” “or” isn’t big or beautiful or inclusive or hopeful enough. There’s a deeper AND of why I’m here and there is always an “other” to consider. What greater hope is there than the idea of possibility and something beyond our lens or current moment. No story is wasted, no feeling is final. Questions have a place and so do we. Everything belongs. Cred: @alecmatlock (Swiftcurrent, Montana)
