even though i love narratives like shopping king louie where something happens to the main lead and now they have to learn how to enjoy the little things and not be obsessed over money, i feel like that’s not the case with se ri. she is obsessed with her work because it’s the only thing she has and what gave her strength to be alive all those years despite feeling so lonely. being in north korea and actually enjoying christmas and eating simple food is all about the fact that she now has people who care for her and love her, and that makes the experience much better, to have people to share with. she isn’t learning how to be “humble”, she’s learning how to let people in and love her and be vulnerable for the first time in (probably) years.
