The FIA president has turned into President Snow from The Hunger Games. He seems to enjoy humiliating drivers and watching them break for entertainment. He lets them compete all year, but every now and then, he targets one, penalizing them unfairly—like shooting them in the leg—and watches them struggle to survive during the race.

He has his "victors," people he uses but secretly despises. And for those who rise too high or refuse to fall in line, he ensures they’re targeted to keep them under his control. How dare they win, become legends, and accomplish something he never will because he’s contributed nothing to the sport?

That’s exactly what he’s been doing to Max all year. He can’t control him, so he’s been sabotaging him in an attempt to ruin his reputation and make him fall in the public’s eyes. But every time, Max rises above it, and that failure only fuels the president’s hatred even more.

If this continues, Formula 1 will stop being about the drivers and turn into The Mohammed Ben Sulayem Show. He’ll drive away the great talents and keep only those he can manipulate.
