Merry Christmas Day- Stonekeepers feat. Revel Day
I love this song. Can’t Americans say “Merry Christmas” anymore?
Jingle bells ringing in my ear Jingle bells a sound that’s oh so dear Frosty the Snowman is all around town Watch out for reindeers falling down
We stay up waiting for Santa tonight He climbs down the chimney at the speed of light While we’re dancing around the Christmas tree Hugging and kissing just you and me
Carolers are singing outside our door Lovely songs we all heard before As they walk from house to house To wish us all a merry Christmas day Oh, a merry Christmas day, oh oh
We’re chasing snowflakes as they’re falling down And follow rudolph all across the town Later we meet under the mistletoе While Santa’s busy saying ho, ho, ho
We’re feeling jolly еating Christmas cake And then we go skating on the frozen lake Saying hi to every friendly face And later we warm up but the fireplace.
Carolers are singing outside our door Lovely songs we all heard before As they walk from house to house To wish us all a merry Christmas day Merry Christmas day, oh oh Merry Christmas day, oh-ooh, ooh, oh-ah, oh yeah
Carolers are singing outside our door Lovely songs we all heard before As they walk from house to house To wish us all a merry Christmas day, yeah A merry Christmas day Mmm, oh dancing round the Christmas tree Wishing all a merry Christmas Dancing round the Christmas tree Wishing all a merry Christmas Dancing round the Christmas tree Wishing all a merry Christmas day Oh oh, oh oh-oh-oh-oh-oh-oh

REFLECTIONS IN A PALACE LAKE(Kyoto Bojo) / The Ventures
This song was composed by the American band "The Ventures" in 1970.
It's really beautiful, plus it's a very Japanese melody, don't you ? This song was a big hit in Japan. I felt the "love for Japan" by the members of  The Ventures .

"Maiko" extinction?
Do you know an endangered species called "Maiko" that lives in Kyoto, Japan? The hospitality industry in Japan is on the verge of bankruptcy due to the adverse effects of the corona crisis. If the current situation continues, "Maiko" may disappear.
"Maiko" refers to the apprenticeship of a professional butoh dancer and performer, "Geiko". Therefore "Maiko" is not paid a salary. Without a place to perform dances and an extra income, they cannot live.
I resent the country that spread the coronavirus throughout the world. I want to protect the traditional Japanese culture of "Maiko".

How much?
How much Japanese kimono price?
Tumblr media
How much do you think this kimono costs? The price of this kimono is 16,200,000 yen. In US dollars, it’s about $ 156,035.
The price of the kimono that Maiko wears in Kyoto ranges from one million yen to several million yen. Of course, they don’t pay for it personally. The landlady of Okiya lends a kimono to Maiko.
Maiko live for five years for free, but their salary is zero until they become a geiko.

Kyoto Festival: Jidai Matsuri [4K]
I  lived in Kyoto once. Kyoto is a historical city and there are many festivals. Today I would like to introduce you to Jidai-maturi. In the festival volunteers dressed as historical figures march. My favorite is "Tomoe-gozen". She is a female samurai. She was stronger than the male samurai. This time  Toshimana-san played Tomoe-gozen. She is a Geiko in Miyagawa-cho.

This is my favorite song.
Uninstall - Chiaki Ishikawa (Lyrics, Composition, and Vocal)
Then the best "Real" came to me from the other side. It laughed at me and said, "Your existence is so simple".
I covered my ears, but I was confused by the truth that slipped through my hands.  Where should I stand with strength in my thin body?

Now I do not understand that I'm one of the countless dust of this planet.
Uninstall Uninstall
I have no choice but to behave like a fearless warrior. Uninstall
My unconscious seems to be honing in on itself like a non-contoured sign under the bed. This eyes open but not the heart. Only the fierceness to destroy everything If I can't choose a season to disappear quietly.
Uninstall Uninstall
If there is no replacement for me. That everyday life that was flowing normally.
Uninstall Uninstall
I want to end up with this hand. There is nothing wrong with that. Uninstall

Now I don't understand that I am one of the countless dust of this planet.

I have no choice but to behave like a fearless warrior.

Who is this woman? Who is this man?
Tumblr media
from the left, Maiko era, Geiko era, and now
Do you know this woman? Many Japanese know her name. Her name is  Katsuno. Her beauty and rumors were a topic on television and in magazines. Currently she is retired from Geiko and is married.
Who is her husband? His name is “Katsuhito Yamauchi.”  He is the son of the founder of “Nintendo”. Yes, that’s Nintendo you know. He has received a division of property and is retired, but he is undoubtedly one of the billionaires.
First-class people seem to get first-class partner.
Best Wishes to a Special Couple.

Japan Samurais and Beauties in the 19th century, Edo and Meiji eras
In Japan, the Edo era ended in 1868 AD, and the Meiji era began. By the end of the Edo era, western photographers had already arrived in Japan. Therefore, this video also shows samurai and Japanese women from the Edo era.
There is a “chonmage” on the head of men in the Edo era. But those who felt obsolete cut it. In the case of women, those who have a cute hairpin on their heads are Maiko. It may be Geiko who has the shamisen.  Other than those, they are ordinary women at that time. (*one photo of Yukaku is included)
Maiko in Kyoto have been in the same style since the Edo era. At that time, they became a Maiko at the age of 10, so there are many Maiko who are very childish. Currently, they must be 15 years old or older to become a Maiko.

Japanese people have long enjoyed the scenery reflected on the surface of the water by calling it “sakasa”. The video is “sakasa-momiji” and the photo is “sakasa-fuji”. Does your country have a "sakasa" landscape too?

Hidemai , a maiko from Ponto-cho, thanked you in English for achieving  our crowdfunding goal.  Please continue to support us from here. https://readyfor.jp/projects/ponto2020
The name of the woman talking is "Hidemai". Is she a maiko? Or is she a geiko? Notice the shape of her hair. A maiko does her hair up in her own hair. A geiko wears a wig. Hidemai is a maiko because she does  her own hair up.
Someday come to Kyoto and see it for yourself.

Beautiful Kyoto: Being a Maiko (featuring Fukunae-san)
Why does Maiko paint her face white?
The reason is that there was no lamp in the old days and the room was dark. Therefore, she painted white powder so that her face could be seen well.
Now Geiko and Maiko paint their face white in official places, but not in informal places. Maiko is about 15 to 20 years old, so it's actually pretty enough without any makeup.   What do you think?

祇園祭2019 花傘巡行 奉納舞踊 先斗町 : Gion Festival - Hanagasa Procession【Pontocho district in Kyoto】
This is one of my favorite videos. The women are dancing in their " shrine maiden outfits". However, they are not shrine maidens.  Yes, they are Geiko from Pontocho, Kyoto.
Geiko is a dance professional and entertainer.   Geiko and Maiko are not high-class sex workers.  The wrong image hurts them. Modern Geiko and Maiko are important bearers of traditional Japanese culture.  Look at them now.

 上七軒芸・舞妓奉納舞 上七軒夜曲 北野天満宮節分祭 2016
Question Which woman do you identify as a maiko?
What are Maiko and Geiko?    The word "Geisha" is known overseas, but we call "Geiko a highly skilled woman" and "an apprentice geiko is called Maiko" in Kyoto. Maiko training usually begins at the age of 15. In the first year, they will learn Kyoto language, manners, and dance. From the second year, they will make their debut as newcomers Maiko. In the morning and afternoon, they take traditional performing arts classes at school. At night, they go out to the Ozashiki with a geiko.   Maiko must choose to become a Geiko or live another life after the age of 20. Maiko life is only about 5 years. Answer (the girl in a pink kimono is a Maiko, and the women in a dark blue and light green kimono are Geiko.)  Did you have the right answer?
