Totally shouldn’t have scrolled down. All I wanted to do was log in so I could put my name to something being sent to a more active tumblrist’s “ask a question” box. Forgot that it doesn’t auto return to where you were but just logs you in to the homepage, which is daft and definitely the work of a consummate nerd-sniper... I just couldn’t resist.
Anyway blah blah blah boop boop how long as it been since I last logged in here, could be a whole year? Things happen, life progresses, or at least it seems to for the people around who I compare myself against... waht to say really, that i haven’t blurted out in a series of rambling replies to othersssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssxkxk

Also, traditionally:
Red Orange Yellow Green
we all know these four fairly well, though depending on your cultural background there may be some disagreement over where the lines are drawn. The green tends to have a little splash of pine-blue in it to better differentiate from yellow and bridge the gap towards...
“Blue” - this seems to usually mean a lighter, more cyan than primary, sort of sky blue. Like more turquoise than lapis lazuli.
“Indigo” - a term that’s rather fallen out of favour in recent years for some reason, but usually seemed to mean, at least when I was a kid learning all kinds of exotic colour names from Crayola labels, a richer, deeper, shorter wavelength kinda blue. Very much more Lapis colour or a little beyond, like a bit past primary blue and somewhat like a higher saturation blueberry skin; also the colour of some pen inks, though actual indigo would stand out if used next to regular blue-ink. VW used to paint their cars in something similar called Marinblau and it looked excellent, doesn’t seem to be so common any more; allegedly also the exact colour Levis Jeans either are or used to be (as in, they dyed the material with actual solid indigo).
and everyone’s* favourite, “Violet”. As in the pinkish purple you get right at the end of a prism spectrum or the inside line of a rainbow. Or the colour of Violets. Somewhere between the two different purple/pink colours shown off by Fuchsias.
No idea why there seems to be a quiet push to reduce the rainbow to six colours these days when each of them are actually distinct and useful in their own right, but, there you go. Comittees for you.
1st thought: its fucked that theres only orange, yellow and green citrus fruits and not one for each color in the rainbow 2nd thought: we havent discovered the red, blue and purple citrus fruits yet. They are out there and their powers combined creates a flavor experience close to enlightenment 3rd thought: wait, what the fuck is the seventh color in the rainbow

Except the thought of two of those are badly tripping off my SNRI-offtapering heightened sense of social anxiety right now, the third of them I just rely on anyway and is less “worth living for” and more “only thing that causes life to happen”, and the fourth, well, I’d like some advice on how to engineer some of those into my life because given the current warm hug per bad day quotient in my life you’re just fucking taunting me with that one. Like unless you’re offering the hug, you better shut up because some of us just don’t have easy access, not even to a Free Hugs outreach worker at the train station.
I’m sure this is done with the best of intents but my level of suicidal ideation just went up at LEAST 3%.

It’s a pH indicator thing or something like that. Compounds that absorb green-yellow but reflect blue and/or red can’t survive acidic conditions very well?
In fact, more just that blue/purple is incompatible, because, if you ignore the skin and just look at the flesh, Grapefruit is VERY red. And there are some other things like Strawberries and Raspberries that *nearly* count - there’s some flavour crossover between them and -proper- citrus if you chuck each respective fruit in a blender and sample the juice with your eyes crossed.
Whilst some citrus fruits have a little bitter flavouring going on, usually its’ blue-purple that signifies a lot of that (with the exception of blueberries, who somehow shifted their load onto cranberries), the darker the colour the more intense the bitterness. And as usually it’s the purple types we bred *away* from, and citruses started out as yellowish, there was no incentive to create such a thing.
tl;dr maybe can’t really exist in nature, as no animal would want to eat an entire orange of such bitterness. so this is your chance to exercise your gene splicing muscles and just MAKE some.

major piles of this lately
only feel comfortable to post that sentiment here because there’s, like, maybe four people who can tie this usename to my IRL self and if any of them use Tumblr that alone would be enough of a shock to put me in a coma

I don’t even know which one this is (she’s got quite a bit going on ... a snake in her hair, a frog mask she’s not wearing and ... a small butcher’s knife? a spatula? other?), but it’s cute-as and that shading effect using different off-grey colours to get a smoother gradient on the white parts is pretty cool, reminds me of trying to fake additional intensity levels on old computers.
Also the work that the white shapes on dark planes must represent, damn. Really nice waterpen work.
Question, though: HOW DO THEY STOP THEIR SLEEVES FROM FALLING OFF?!
Also whilst it does help keep the colour scheme going... a necktie? Really, game character designer? Just a coloured strip on the blouse itself wasn’t good enough? :-D

a sanae!!! at this rate im gonna end up doin a copic piece of like every touhou lmao

Pretty sure the whole pokemon catching thing is just a way to trick impressionable kids into becoming Agents of The Man, kidnapping demonstrably sapient and even protocultural animals from their natural environments and societies then putting them to work as slaves either in literal Roman style gladitorial arenas, or performing various menial labours more or (as in this case) less suited to their intrinsic skills, TBH.
All those “spares” saved into pokecentre PCs, do we honestly think they stay there in happy statis all that time? Come on. They’re totally working at the salt mine.

Lol, Trumpcare
❗️Things you should know about the Graham-Cassidy Healthcare Bill ❗️
• There is not enough time between now and September 30 to get an accurate CBO score that tells us how many people will loose coverage as well as what the bill will cost, and that is inexcusable.
• It ends individual and employer mandates, which will drive premiums up. It will also end federal subsidies for individual insurance. This is estimated to leave 32 million people uninsured.
• It takes the money going to the states that opted ‘in’ to Medicaid expansion and distributes it among all states, even those whose legislatures irresponsibly voted against expansion. In 2026, funding for Medicaid expansion would end entirely, and the shortfall would be left for the states to cover.
• It institutes a one year freeze on Medicaid reimbursements for Planned Parenthood (even though federal law already prohibits federal tax dollars being used to fund or finance abortion services)
• It allows individual states to define what constitutes an “essential benefit”, which will likely result in a slash of coverage for maternity services, cancer treatments and services, ER visits, prescription drugs, and many more benefits. This could also further prevent women’s clinics from charging Medicaid for things like cancer screenings and birth control.
• It allows insurers to double their surcharge for elderly patients. (The ACA allows insurers to charge older customers up to 3 times as much as younger ones. This bill increases that to up to 5 times as much.)
• It allows insurers to charge higher rates based on health status, and it repeals language in the ACA which prevents changing insurance rates after a patient is diagnosed with a condition. This is not a drill, friends. Call your senators. We have until the 30th.
202-224-3121 -> US Capitol Switchboard. This will connect you directly with the senate office you request.
ResistBot is another great resource. If you text ‘resist’ to 50409, you can fax straight to your senators office by texting what you want to say.
TL:DR; the healthcare bill still sucks. Call your senators. Information on how above ^^

Or “The detailed proof is in the devil’s pudding”. That’s an actual type of pudding, isn’t it?
splice phrases “the devil is in the details” and “the proof is in the pudding”, you get “the proof is in the details” (makes sense) and “the devil is in the pudding” (omen)

With a suitable lens and a little internal modification to remove certain filters you could also weaponise the projector. Canvas sails don’t take nicely to either concentrated hot-beam incandescent light (once you nix the IR filtering between the halogen bulb and the lens), or to a laser / near-coherent LED source (from a - generally cool beam - laser-LED model) strong enough to brightly illuminate many square metres of screen area again focussed down to an area of a few square millimetres, potentially increasing its net intensity by more than 1,000,000. And again you’d haxor it to make sure all the primaries were beaming at 100% of max continually.
Trojan fire and those greek sun-mirrors? Old and busted. Directable, on-demand photon cannon? New hotness.
if i was a pirate captain i would get a movie projector and play a movie on the big sails every friday night for my boys to kick back and enjoy some time off unless we were under attack

Funny thing is, if we take the Chris Reeve movie timelines as canonical, and assume that Kryptonians age at the same rate as Terrans, that’s probably what Clark Kent would look like with his shirt off these days.
