And here we are ... At last :D

10 years ago, Rope crafted a remarkable world, inspired by Starlight Shores, and generously given away to the community : Brightwater.

We embraced this gift, transforming and reshaping it, creating an island to eliminate distant terrain, and thus, Shetland Harbour was born ...

While many creators have fashioned stunning Sims 3 worlds with a Northern charm—like Saaqartoq, Greymont Bay, Lillebror, or Plymouth Isles—ours, stands a little apart.

Shetland Harbour is a unique blend : a touch of Aurora Skies, a hint of Moonlight Falls, and a dash of the unfortunate Barnacle Bay, all interwoven with our own vision of course. It is a vast yet easily navigable world, balanced between lightness and richness, featuring nearly all the Rabbit Holes the game offers.

Our aim was to craft a cohesive and vibrant world, one that feels alive and contemporary, with harmonious architecture and a spirit that invites exploration and delight :)

Welcome to Shetland Harbour, a picturesque coastal town nestled between rolling green hills and a fantastic bay … It is a beautiful medium/large-sized world, a community nestled on its own secluded island, accessible only by ferry. The town is known for its charming cobblestone streets, a vibrant fish market, and a rich history dating back centuries, dotted with quaint cottages, a bustling coast, and a grand lighthouse standing guard at the harbor’s entrance ...

This hidden gem is a haven for sheep, but don't let that fool you – Shetland Harbour is far from a sleepy place. With its rich maritime history, the town offers a unique blend of tradition and vibrant local culture.

Designed to capture the essence of a northern European island, Shetland Harbour offers a self-contained community with 100 lots in total : 65 residential lots + 35 community lots. Each Lot ( except the Old Renovated Factory ) is fully furnished.

In addition, there are multiple sheep ( all by Murfeel ) fields here and there – the latter being especially dear to the local culture, a close-knit community, where the ocean's presence is always felt and the simplicity of rural life is celebrated.

Shetland Harbour combines a lively downtown with peaceful suburbs and serene neighborhoods, featuring quaint cottages, charming gardens, and scenic paths through lush greenery.

The town's historic churches, like Old Church, Albert Church or Lux Chapel, are steeped in tales of ancient rituals and ghostly apparitions ... Albert Church, built on a Druidic site, is haunted by druid spirits, while Lux Chapel is known for the ghost of a sailor, seen on stormy nights ...

The mysterious stone circle inside the Graveyard, Ghost Place, adds to the island's mystical allure. Rumored to be a portal to another realm, it activates during celestial alignments, with visitors reporting strange occurrences. Shetland Harbour contains custom content. As much as we try to include them into the world building process, we learned with time the necessity of providing a list those items. No worries, we used the same cc creators as usual and added 2 or 3 more. Such as the grey/dark roof we made, based on the terracotta roof of the game and the Wood walls you'll find on different lots, the same as the ones of Oaksoak Hollow ... Or more important, the boats used in the world and of course ... The sheeps ! All you need should be included and/or available down here ;)

[Review] Sephonie (PS5)

Analgesic does it again with this puzzle-platformer/puzzle stunner.

After Anodyne 2, Melos and Marina of Analgesic created this game, which is in many ways an evolution of the exploration of 3D spaces seen there. In other ways it examines similar themes to All Our Asias and Even the Ocean, so I'm glad I played those first. There's plenty of innovation here though with a new PS2-esque art style, an interesting movement system, and the integration of tile puzzle sequences. Basically, there's a lot of cool stuff going on here, with the typical Analgesic layer of raw humanity underlying everything.

There's an issue to address up front: do not play the Playstation release. Sephonie has three main characters, all of Taiwanese descent. The game goes into their backstories which are wrapped up in connections between Taiwan, Japan, and the USA (reflecting Melos's own background and to a lesser extent Marina's). The idea of Taiwan and cultural heritage is vital to the story, and is in fact one of the stated purposes of the game by its developers: to bring attention to a culture that is sorely under-represented in media, especially video games. Part of the reason for this is active suppression by the Chinese government, which Sony is party to via a prohibition on even mentioning its existence. The result is a censoring of all mentions of Taiwan in the PS4/5 versions, replacing it with "Atlantis" (and Taipei with Timaeus, and so on) which as Melos noted on the Analgesic Discord "seemed like an absurdly appropriate way to do it because those sorts of censorship laws effectively want Taiwan to become an imaginary place". Needless to say learning about this seriously bummed me out, and while the story is mostly intact, I'd recommend checking this out on other platforms.

With that out of the way... the game opens with a shipwreck on the isolated Sephonie Island. Three scientists set out to explore this mysterious place with the help of the sci-fi Onyx technology which lets them wallrun and airdash, as well as letting them communicate with the unique flora and fauna. As you explore the caves beneath the surface, things get more surreal and the stakes are raised as it's revealed the island is sentient and is hiding a deadly secret... which makes things sound sinister but most of the interactions you have are quite gentle and wholesome, with themes of connection and interdependence.

The three characters play identically but have their own personalities which are expressed a number of ways. Collectible items hold details simultaneously mundane and essential about their daily lives and memories, while climactic cutscenes cover deeper dives into their histories, their thoughts and hopes and joys and cares. Later areas also begin to be influenced by the characters, the cave system contorting itself to match moments and places from their lives, complete with ephemeral NPCs you can talk to. As with Analgesic's other games, the writing consistently has a sincerity to it that really cuts through, and compels you to care, to think, and to reflect.

Between these moments are some cool platforming mechanics, with a run button taking you into something akin to skateboarding movement. Mastering the wallrun and the mid-air hop from dashing into a wall are satisfying, and there's plenty of new gimmicks that get introduced as you go to add new twists to it. The postgame unlocks the "Bubble Adventure" mode that adds bubbles to each zone, acting both as shortcuts and a new challenge to pop them while returning to safe footing, which was a lot of fun as a way to engage further with the movement systems (after ten hours doing the base game, I spent another ten doing Bubble Adventure and finding collectibles and out-of-bounds secrets!). But if they give you trouble, there's plenty of accessibility options to customise.

While exploring you find new forms of life, with some cool and slightly otherworldly designs. Interacting with them leads to the recurring puzzle minigame, where you place blocks in a grid to create large matched colour sets. I enjoyed these as a change of pace, but most can be skipped if you don't get on with them. Your reward is some info about the particular fauna or flora's ecological niche which seems well-researched, as well as some amusing dialogue with the creature itself.

In addition to Bubble Adventure, completing the game gets you a nice plot epilogue that provides a satisfying cap to the story, as well as some behind-the-scenes looks at the game's development which are now customary for Analgesic. Popping more bubbles opens up playable early draft levels as well as debug and test rooms. This kind of candid archiving really deepens my holistic engagement with their games, and in this case reveals that most of their best ideas did indeed end up in the game... although I wonder if the hoverboard concept could have been cool!

There's a lot of admirable stuff about Sephonie, and it's a great addition to the overall Analgesic catalogue. I feel like each new game they put out only enriches the others. Once again the result is a really special experience, and one that I'll remember fondly, even with the bitter edge of the cultural censorship that mars the Sony versions. I can't wait to see what they do next! (It's called Angeline Era, wishlist it on Steam I guess?)

DM note: Sadly I did not think about recording the first session of The Infinite Dungeon. Hence I am writing this summary based on memory, notes and the art produced after this first game. I have provided links to Art linked to specific scenes and characters in the post ahead. :)

Four individuals found themselves trapped within a cell to their own. Without recollection of how they found their way into this prison, they make their way to get out, whatever means necessary. Each person wakes up in a cell made of cobblestone walls, ground and ceiling. Iron bars including a locked iron door preventing them from simple escape.

Guthrie @guthrie-odonto, a halfling with some of rather bird-like traits, escaped with some skill and force, picking the lock. Or at least he would have picked it, if it wasn't for tha fact, that he was able to slip right through the bars. Clearly that cell was not made with halflings in mind. Outside in the corridor to the left he discovered two jars. One of them was filled with pure water, the other one had a key hidden inside. Guthrie takes the key. Lyr@lexarga, a blue-skinned half-elf, used to the wild and stormy breeze of the ocean, now found herself trapped in a cell that barely provided any sound at all. The corridors were silent and all evenly lit, but no light source to be seen. After using some brute force she started wandering the lone and strange corridors. Damien @abstractbabble, a human with a very fancy jacket, escaped his cell by popping the lock, but soon encountered a creature that seemed to have it out for him.

Lorem @moreclaypigeons, a human wanderer of the celestial planes, escaped using one of the many keys she held on to. While still sorting her thoughts she was attacked by a creature similar to the one aiming for Damien in another place. The skull bugs as players and characters would soon call them, are skulls with wings that look like rotten leafs. Their lower jaw is missing, but the upper row of teeth is sharp and instead of fangs they have two long fangs, similar in function to sickles. And unfortunately just as sharp as sickles.

Lyr ends up in a direct encounter with the skullbug that attacked Damien, but Damien decides he’s not having it, instead of helping her, he dashed down the twisted corridors of this labyrinth, only to be almost shot by a sacred flame, cast by Lorem, who just happened to miss her shot. Damien in return to almost having his precious jacket burnt, flips her off.

And just as Damien keeps running, his path is blocked by yet another skullbug rising from a pile of bones. The gelatinous orb within the open skull shimmers in a variety of bright colours. The skullbug slashes with its claws and deals some gruesome injuries to Damien’s beloved jacket.

Damien, taken aback, considers his options, when an arrow strikes the critter down. From the other side of the corner, Guthrie pokes out his head, having taken down the enemy in one shot.

Soon both of them go back, finding Lorem who is taking down another skullbug, Lyr has cleaned up her mess as well. The skullbugs disintegrate and the characters more or less team up, as the players come to understand the lay of the land.

As the group slowly comes to an understanding that all of them have the same objective, getting out of this place, Damien notices that his jacket has been mended. It’s as good as new. None of the other players claim credit for this. Exploring the remaining paths, they end up discovering a 5th cell in the northeast of the map. The cell is empty, there is some rope hanging from the ceiling. On their way through the narrow corridors leading up to said area, they find paper with some writing on it, but after reading, what seems to be the draft for a novel, they soon move on.

At the center of the labyrinth, west of which there is a set of stairs waiting to be climbed.

As the group walks up the stairs, white fog blocks their vision, before they emerge all together on a new floor, which seems to be a circular communal room, of some sorts. Not much time remains to investigate, as the group is immediately attacked once again by skullbugs. This time it’s a group of them, one of them significantly larger than the others.

While Lorem, Lyr and Guthrie do their upmost to take down the skullbugs, who are definitely stronger than the ones they fought previously, Damien tries to keep himself and his beloved jacket safe.

As combat continues, Damien engages as well. While Lyr uses vicious Mockery, Damien just uses "normal mockery." Lorem, in a moment of strategic brilliance takes down two enemies in one shot with a fire bolt. In an effort to take down the last of the enemies, Lyr, who has been mostly relying on her weapons and supportive magic, casts thunderwave.

In the chaos that ensues, Damien fails to save himself and takes serious injury away from the powerful magic that rumbles through the room. Lyr, shocked, by what happens, apologises and moves over to heal Damien, as their enemies have finally been taken out. Or so they thought. A pile of rubble turns out to be a vicious mimic, as it is being poked by Lyr. As Guthrie attempts to shoot the creature, he misses in a critical fashion and instead Lorem takes an arrow wound to her arm. As the “WHAT THE FUCK!” moment ensues, Damien fails to get out of range, the mimic sees it’s opportunity and attacks.

And just as Damien is torn to shreds by a pile of vicious bricks, and his companions watch this scene, the group’s vision turns white. The next thing they know... Four individuals found themselves trapped within a cell to their own.

top 5 Sonic Advance 3 teams

5) Cream/Amy

What happens when you put two game breakers together?

In theory, this team doesn’t have much that makes it stand out: aside from Trick Actions (and the frankly useless Hip Drop), C/A’s only peculiarity is that it has two melee attacks, the Hammer on the ground and Cheese in the air (by the way, this means that this team cannot Spin Attack, which can be a detriment).

So why is it in my top 5 out of 20? Simple: Cream is a natural game breaker, and this is Cream at her best. I would say that this team is the polar opposite of its counterpart Amy/Cream: Cream’s natural abilities are enhanced by Amy’s properties, and together they make a genuinely fun team. There is no special move that makes this combination unique: Cream’s flight, Amy’s hammer, her Tag Actions, Cheese and the Trick Actions are simply an excellent mix, and while it takes a little while to get used to “switching” weapon, this team can be used for fluid gameplay.

4) Tails/Amy

If you have played the first Adventure, you’ll remember how fast Tails could go in that game. With the Jet Anklet, not even Sonic was match for him, and his levels were a joke.

I’m mentioning this because this Tails reminds me of how broken he was in Adventure. Sure, he lost the Spin Jump, but when you can fly twice as fast as normal, in all directions, without getting tired earlier, and holding a hammer that can defend you on the front and allow you to hammer springs in the air, does it even matter? In fact, Tails here is so obscenely OP that he overshadows Amy’s Tag Actions, which are already broken. If a level is spacious enough, and most are, he’ll snap it in half. This combination can even skip the entirety of Chaos Angel Act 3!

3) Knuckles/Amy

Forget Hyper Knuckles, this is Knuckles to his maximum power.

While he loses his Spin Jump and punches, Knuckles glides and climbs walls like usual, and gains two new moves. One is the Drill Claw, which is the equivalent of Sonic’s Bound Attack: this one is more useful, though, because it’s a Power move and therefore the only way to destroy Power barriers, since the hammer can’t.

The second one, which is the main reason this team is so high, is the Dash Climb: in short, it’s the ability to spin dash up walls. And I’m going to say it: the Dash Climb is to Knuckles what the Drop Dash is to Sonic. I resent the fact that this move has never returned and it’s hidden in a semi-obscure combination in a divisive handheld game. What a way to enhance Knuckles’ abilities! It absolutely destroys vertical acts like Sunset Hill Act 3 and the first two acts of Ocean Base! And then you add Amy’s Tag Actions and hammer, and this team becomes an excellent choice for exploration.

K/A and T/A are almost a tie for me, they’re both basically their leader powered up. Whether you prefer one or the other depends on whether you prefer Knuckles’ or Tails’ gameplay style. And while nyooming all over the place is really fun, I feel like K/A is faster.

2) Knuckles/Tails

Probably the most beloved team for casual playthroughs.

Everyone knows how OP K/T is. And much like C/A, it’s not just one broken move, it’s how everything mixes together. Knuckles’ only new moves when paired with Tails are a double jump before gliding, automatically extending the distance he can cover, and the Spiral Upper, a move with a taller hitbox than his normal punches and that can be used while running. To this, add the fact that he can glide, he can climb walls as usual (and you can climb faster by abusing the double jump), he can fly, he can be launched high into the air, he can swim, he can float, and he can break Power barriers.

In short, what makes it such a fan favorite is that it is literally many players’ dream come true: the best of Knuckles and the best of Tails mixed together in one package. The shortcomings of Knuckles’ gliding and climbing are compensated by Tails’ Tag Actions. It also helps that, unlike K/A, you can get this combination as early as the second level in the game. The one thing missing is going into Boost mode, but honestly, who needs speed when pretty much every aerial move is at your disposal?

1) Sonic/Cream

The speedrunning team.

For a long time, I put this team shortly below K/T, due to its lack of flight; but I realized that it doesn’t matter when this team is just sheer fun. While you can’t boost on your own like you can do with Sonic as your partner, every move here seems to be engineered to create the most utter sense of fluidity. Sonic can do a Jump Dash, which has nothing to do with Amy’s as it’s faster and offensive, and a great way to gain a burst of speed; if you Jump Dash near an enemy, you will do a Homing Attack; you can breathe underwater (although you can only discover this by replaying past levels); and you can of course use Cheese and Cream’s air boost, the latter of which becomes a force of nature when combined with Sonic’s natural momentum.

There are only a handful of occasions where Cream’s air boost is overshadowed by Tails’ or Amy’s Tag Action, literally the only downside. In the majority of the levels, from the fast Route 99 to the dangerous Chaos Angel, this combination is simply a delight, and the best reward for unlocking the cute bunny.

I can do meet cutes and slice of life situations but...there will always be unsettling undertones. the twins are not human, and i like that about them, it's part of what drew me to the characters in the first place.

it is important to note that i write the twins from several points in their life. and it can range anywhere from 17 ( when we're introduced to them in twst ) - 20 ( assumedly their last year at the college ), and beyond that even if i choose explore their life after NRC, and where their choices and behavior lead them.

themes here will absolutely include: murder, blood, torture, body horror, deep sea horror, drowning, manipulation, gaslighting, ocean related imagery and aesthetics, teeth, gore and more. each will be tagged accordingly. if i ever need to tag something in particular, like a ship or a character, please feel free to ask me.

[Review] Pronty (PC)

The best underwater steampunk Metroidvania I’ve ever played!

Pronty is a satisfying finale for my current run of aquatic-themed games. A friend linked me to the Steam page and I was hooked. The moody 2D hand-drawn look is eye-catching, with its mutant rubbish-fish dwelling in a ruined art-deco undersea city. I’ve noticed a recurring theme of environmentalism in the marine games I’ve been playing, and it’s especially evident here. Taiwan-based developer 18Light Game likes to include such social commentary in their games, and there’s even hints of Taiwanese culture buried in this sci-fi postapocalyptic future.

Pronty is the name of our protagonist, or at least their class of genetic soldier fishpeople (in-game dialogue refers to them as he, while the Steam description uses “it”... shrug). In this future, mutated sea life has bonded with the refuse that humanity continually dumps in the oceans, and this new species of garbage/fish hybrids has fought back, driving humanity in its sunken Bioshock-style cities to the brink of extinction or perhaps beyond. Our Pronty and their “Bront” robotic eel partner are the last remnants of humanity’s morally-ambiguous experiments to create a resistance force, and must solve the mysteries of the polluted deathtrap of a city.

Gameplay feels quite inspired by Hollow Knight, with movement mechanics similar to something like Aquaria. You move freely around a Metroid-esque 2D map, changing up your build with slotted perks. Pronty has a dash that later can be augmented with other movement-based techniques to unlock new map exploration. Combat is quite interesting, as your eel buddy has independent movement and must be directed to attack, in my case with the right joystick. It can be charged to act as a temporary barrier and unleashed to land a more powerful blow.

The interplay of these core systems works well, making for a unique and dynamic control system. Changing out your build at save points then lets you suit your preference or the situation. The map seems well designed with shortcuts and lots of fast travel points facilitating the inevitable backtrack for secrets. The economy is balanced pretty well and the unlockables and upgrade paths are satisfying. I really don’t have much bad to say about this other than perhaps it’s not quite as polished to a high sheen as some other games I’ve played, but it’s very solid with a cool setting and some interesting quirks. What more could you ask for?
